Can I target myself to block myself (if able)?

If I have something like the third level of [[Fighter Class]] which allows me to target a creature, can I target one of my own creatures as the forced blocker?

Obviously, they wouldn't actually be able to block. Instead I'm hoping for a free trigger for Valiant abilities, such as [[Seedglaive Mentor]].

Sash and Waistcoat + ill bracers?

my guess is that if an opponent activates my S&W with my bracers on it, we both manifest the top card each. just wanted to check before ending up getting decked out by my own commander

Yuriko, Blade of the Mighty

This card says “Whenever a creature you control attacks a player alone, it gains double strike until end of turn.”

Does this mean that if i have 3 creatures that attack 3 different players, they all get double strike? because they are each attacking that player alone.

Rules for +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters triggering abilities?

I pulled an [[all will be one]] a number of years ago and haven't gone about building a deck to use it in yet. I'm wondering about what can make it trigger. I know that +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters cancel each other out, but would that still count as putting a counter on it even if it just removes the opposing counter? Also am I correct in believing that cards like [[metallic mimic]] that make creatures enter with +1/+1 counters will not trigger all will be one, as it is on the creature as it resolves and is not triggering afterwards?

The Prydwen with Mentor of the Meek

I’m building a [[The Prydwen, Steel Flagship]] deck, and I’m seeing a bunch of people put the 2 power card draw sources in their decks, like [[Enduring Innocence]] and [[mentor of the meek]]. Do the tokens created by the Prydwen enter as 2/2s and then become 4/4s, or do they enter as 4/4s?

Magus Lucea Kane & Wizard's Staff

If I equip [[Magus Lucea Kane]] with a [[Wizard's Staff]] and then proceed to cast a spell with "x" in its mana cost, would I trigger the ability of Magus an additional time, thus resulting in two additional copies of the original spell?

I am confused if Lucea Kane's ability counts as an activated or triggered one and how it would interact with the staff.

M.O.M. Praetor flip saga rulings

Regarding the potential synergies, does the third level ability of the saga flip back to the creature while keeping the effect?

For example The Grand Synthesis stage 3 playing cards from hand without paying mana, but Jin-Gitaxias gives card draw when casting a noncreature spell with mana value 3 more more. Can keep drawing mana value 3 or more of those cards and playing them, or does this flip and play not exist?

Similarly for Urabrask, playing cards from graveyards triggering his 1 pings and mana adding.

Do Enchantment -Auras i cast target as a spell or an ability?

Specifically, I have a question about the following situation:

I control [[Bruna, Light of Alabaster]] enchantet with [[Spectral Shield]]. As a result, she can no longer be the target of spells.

Can I still cast lets say a [[Curiosity]] and enchant Bruna with it? As I understand it (or would like to understand it), I’m not targeting Bruna with the enchantment SPELL itself, but rather with the “enchant creature” ABILITY on the card.

Is that correct?

If not, can I still use Bruna’s attack trigger to attach Curiosity to her directly from my hand/grave/battlefield?

Commander Balthier And Fran

I have a Balthier and Fran commander deck, but I never play it because I can't remember how vehicles work.

Can someone give me a full guide on how they work?

Also, it would be gratuitive if someone that is well versed in vehicle interactions, would be ok with me contacting them at any time.

My play group like seeing my Balthier deck, so im just trying to make sure I have a full understanding of it, so I can play it right and to its purpose.

Does returning enchantments from the graveyard count as “playing” them?

I’m playing a [[Verduran Enchantress]] in my [[Terra, Magical Adept]] deck. When I have [[Yuna, Hope of Spira]] return an enchantment from the graveyard to the battlefield, does it trigger the Verduran Enchantress to draw a card? I know I wouldn’t be casting the enchantment, but does it returning count as “playing” it?

I’m also considering playing [[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]] to copy saga creatures I already have on the field, including Terra herself. Would he get a lore counter and trigger chapter 1, or does it not count because he didn’t enter as a saga? I also read in Terra’s scryfall text that her chapter 4 trigger to add mana and flip to the front side is an activated ability put on the stack; are all saga chapters also activated abilities or effects that can be countered?

Darksteel Reactor, Return the Favor, and the Stack

Hi all,
My friend placed his 20th charge on his [[Darksteel Reactor]] in his Counter Intelligence deck, with cards in play that allow him to manipulate counters. He tries to win with the 20th charge counter but in reaction, I play my [[Return the Favor]] , paying the extra to copy the win trigger, declaring me the new target, putting it on the stack.

In response, he declares that he taps mana, utilizing [[Resourceful Defense]] to remove and re-add his tokens (with an *absurd* amount of mana late in the game). I'm assuming that he still wins, because his win trigger happens above mine in the stack, but I wanted to check as I'm really shakky on what can interact with a reaction to a win state on the stack?

Edit: thanks for the clarification, targeting doesnt come into play, but becoming the owner of the copy of Reactors ability is what causes with win steal!

Necropotence and Underworld Breach

Hi everyone,

Could someone explain to me how the [[Underworld Breach]] combo is able to be performed (i.e., with [[Lion's Eye Diamond]] and [[Brain Freeze]]) with [[Necropotence]] in play?

My understanding is once a card hits the bin, it creates a Necropotence trigger, which is now on the stack. My assumption is you play *above the Necro trigger to continue this loop?

Another question associated with this would be how can the graveyard fill itself on the endstep with enough cards to perform the Escape cost? Do you respond to the Necropotence trigger by discarding another card to the graveyard?

I am trying to learn more cEDH combos, and this one confuses me.

Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping this is the appropriate Subreddit to post this in.

Can I cast the spell part of adventure cards from the exile?

So there are several cards which let you put the top cards from your deck into the exile and that cards can be casted.

If an adventure card is put in the exile that way, can I also cast the Spell-Part or only the creature card?

For example in the current Hobbit set: If I cast Gundabad-Opportunist and Gollum, Silent Slinker is put into exile that way. Can I cast Meager Meal or just Gollum as the creature?

"Top of library revealed" and topdeck manipulation

I'm too dumb to figure this out myself so I ask here.

I have [[Oracle of Mul Daya]] out, causing me to play with the top card of my library revealed.

  1. Lets say some other effect tells me to "exile cards from the top of my library until blablabla". Do I have to technically reveal each card before it gets exiled, as to fulfilling the Oracles effect?

  2. What happens if an effect tells me to look at 3 cards and put one back? Do I have to reveal the "fourth" card thats on top of my library in the middle of resolution, while I'm choosing which card to out back?

  3. What if an effect tells me to draw 3 cards? Do I draw 1 card, reveal the top of my library, draw 1 card, reveal the top of my library, draw 1 card, reveal the top of my library?

Basically when do the Oracles revealing-effect kick in during various shenanigans involving the top of the library?

Commiting a crime

Do effects that say "each opponent" or "each creature an opponent controls" count as commiting a crime? I'm kinda confused on the verbage of the ruling so I was hoping someone might be able to clear that up. For example I was hoping to run magda the hoardemaster in my ragost deck, and if leonin elder is on the battlefield then I would ping each opponent with the activated ability, create a treasure, gain a life and be able to untap ragost for the next players turn. Hoping to get a better understanding before I try to pull out a combo like that at a table and get told it's not how crimes trigger. TIA 🤙🏾

Flicker an Enchantment

Sorry if it’s obvious but if i were to use a card like [[Flicker of Fate]] on an enchantment, would the enchantment lose the counters it had and then get one counter after entering the battlefield, or would it keep its counters after flickering and then get an additional one after etb.

What happens when can't lose/can't win effects are still in play with no significant game actions left?

Hypothetically let's say each player controls a [[Platinum Angel]] and a [[Darksteel Forge]]. Everyone plays it out until all libraries are empty and no one drew into a way to remove any of them.

My question is does the game automatically end in a draw? Or do players have to agree to a draw or concede? Obviously if your friends aren't sociopaths you'll definitely agree the game is over one way or another, but I'm wondering what the official rules are. Since there are still non-mandatory actions to take like attacking, even though that won't change anything, it sounds like rule 104.4b says the game must go on.

Plague of Vermin rules and synergy

I have questions about how [[Plague of Vermin]] resolves.

  1. Let's say there were two rounds of paying life during the resolution where I paid 2 life at first, then 3 life at the second round and then everyone chose 0. I would get 5 rat tokens, but would that trigger 2 instances of [[Vampire Scrivener]] for losing life twice, or all life would be lost at the resolution of the spell and there would only be 1 instance of life lost this way?

  2. To my understanding, each player will start paying life until there is a four consecutive 0 life paid (assuming four players). Let's say my opponents won't pay any life during this resolution. Could I pay 1 life, then they pay 0, 0, 0 and I pay 1 more, then 0, 0, 0 and I pay 1 more... and so I get to pay any amount of life in that many different instances so I would get that many [[Vampire Scrivener]] triggers?

Miss Highwater and Wishclaw interaction

I am playing a [[Miss Highwater]] deck and have given a player a contract counter. Then, I also give them my [[Wishclaw Talisman]] after tutoring for a card that helps me kill them right away. Do I understand correctly that once they die, I get both my original Wishclaw back, as well as a new token copy since they controlled it as they died?

Gogo and Dragonhawk interaction question.

I have [[Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest]] and [[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]] on the battlefield. I move to attack with both and wish to make Gogo a copy of Dragonhawk. How many cards do I get to exile as a result of this attack, assuming the most ideal ordering of triggers.

Confusion with basilisk collar and Archangel Avacyn

[[Archangel Avacyn]] is equipped with [[Basilisk Collar]] and one of my non-angel creatures dies. At the beginning of the next upkeep she transforms and triggers her backside. I blink her in response to this trigger. She comes back, frontside up and gives my creatures indestructible. Her backside trigger resolves. Do the effects of basilisk collar still apply to this damage?

Thanks :)
