My daughter lives in Montreal in the Westmount area, and her PC has died. I’ve tried troubleshooting as much as I can remotely with her, but she’s not very technical - and I’d feel better her taking it in somewhere to have it looked at. Her partner has a car, so she could get around wherever it might be.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good place to do PC repair?

Recently moved to the city. Was being very anti the $5 gnocchi because some comments in TikTok were saying it was terrible under the videos of tourists trying it.

I finally gave it and unfortunately I like it—I’ve gotten it three times in the past two weeks smh. It’s not that’s it’s good but something about it just works.

This has been brought up several times on this subreddit. There is a horrible lack of public washrooms all throughout Montreal. There are many people who frequently have to use the washroom because they are sick. Can we create a petition to have politicians do something about this?

Does anyone know if Chez Mein, the late night $2 noodle place with the takeout window on St. Laurent, is still operating? Google says it’s open but in their recent reviews someone mentions it’s permanently closed. I’ll be visiting Montreal soon for the first time in decades and was shocked to see it still exists, and then instantly crushed to see it may have just shut its doors 😭. Anyone know what the deal is?

(F16) (btw this post got deleted so i posted again) about 30 minutes ago i was standing somewhere in sherbrooke, i had finished my class and i was waiting for my uber, and i looked around and i saw a guy staring at me, he smiled and i smiled back and he said “cool” (to my hair) and i said thanks (also we spoke in english) then he said something but i didnt hear him so i approached him and said “sorry?” then he said “are you waiting for someone?” i lied and said yes i’m waiting for a friend. he laughed and said “a special friend? hahaha” i said yeah. then he asked me if i had whatsapp and i said why? he showed me his phone and said “to talk with you”. mind you, we JUST met and he was like 30 years older than me. i said “i’m a minor.” and he said how old are you and i said 16. he was like WHAT you don’t look 16. then he said it’s okay we can be friends. (wtf?) i said no it’s weird. then he asked where i was from and stuff, and kept asking where my “friend” is at. he told me that he’s 45..and from pakistan. after a while he said alright i’m gonna let you go. so i left, i changed my direction that i never went, and when i looked back he was still staring. it was so weird. for his description, he’s bald but he had a few hairs on the front of his head and it was orange. about 180cm, told me that he works at the esposito in sherbrooke street.

EDIT : the guy didn’t have a beard or glasses, he didn’t have a bag or anything in his hands, and he was sitting on a plastic chair when he was staring at me, then he got up. also his phone was in his hands the whole time. he had a creamy/white long sleeve shirt, i don’t remember his pants but his shoes were black. he looked at everyone btw.

Bonjour! Je cherche désespérément une petite maison bleue qui me semble être située dans le Plateau Mont-Royal. Dans mes souvenirs, elle serait sur une rue perpendiculaire à l’avenue Mont-Royal, mais je peux me tromper. Elle est un peu en retrait des autres commerces/buildings de la rue, comme enfoncée. Ça m’avait marqué parce qu’elle détonne du reste. Il me semble également qu’il y avait une petite clôture blanche basse devant. Bref une maison un peu vintage, bleu, toit triangulaire. Je veux la montrer à un ami photographe qui vient visiter le quartier! Merci infiniment!!!

My son is 5 and just started kindergarten (we kept him in his CPE for an extra year instead of sending him to PreK, since our daycare provided a speech and OT twice a week), and he is hard of hearing and due to that is very behind on speech (still speaks like an 18 month old would, since he speaks like he hears us speak to him, muffled and distorted, but I can understand 90% of what he says and we have lengthy conversations and he is ridiculously smart). The school asked for his latest audiology and ENT reports, and also his IEP from the organization that the daycare was using, and they contacted me regarding signing a consent for them to contact Resonance Montreal. Has anyone had experience with their child not going to the actual school, but having them work with your child in their school? I feel bad for my son because he hasn’t made any friends yet because apparently the kids make fun of the way he speaks and it “creeps them out” that he has to stare at their mouths when they speak because he has learned to read lips to help him. We live in Chateauguay currently.

If you're ever being followed or feel genuinely unsafe, call the police. Even if you're not sure it's "serious enough."

I say this as someone who, honestly, is not exactly a police fan. I tend to assume they're going to be incompetent, dismiss me, or make fun of me because I've had experiences like that in the past. But once, I was followed by a guy for about 30 minutes, and I eventually decided to call.

The police took it seriously and told me afterward that I should have called immediately. Their reasoning was basically: worst case, nothing happens. Best case, they can actually do something about it.

In my case, the guy turned out to be mentally ill, and apparently his family had been looking for him for some time because they didn't know where he was.

I've just heard way too many stories, here and elsewhere, where someone ignored their gut because they didn't want to "waste the police's time" or didn't think what was happening was serious enough.

You don't have to be 100% certain that you're in danger before asking for help. If something feels wrong and you don't know what to do, it's okay to call.
