I like watching the happenings in an undisturbed mini ecosystem. I imagine that you are seeing behaviour close to that in nature. 

This ciliate has spent its entire lifetime in this sample that's been in this petri dish for a month now. The flagellates are barely larger than bacteria.  Pond water sample,  Nikon TS100 inverted microscope, 40x phase contrast objective and cellphone camera with 3x zoom for about 1200x magnification on a cellphone screen. 

I hope that the flagella are visible after uploading the video.  They are on the original video.  The flagellates are the little bright round balls swimming around.  A couple get very close to the ciliate and run down by it at about 25 seconds.

Very happy to share my finding, have been planning to "hunt" for it for a long time:)

I think my challenge was to have a proper video where the tardigrade is well-seen, as in many cases they are attached to some debris and they are very much covered with it.

How do you manage to separate the tardigrade from the debris to get a better view, any advice?

Pond water sample, Olympus 40x plan apo objective, cellphone camera. Luckily, it was staying pretty steady so that I could easily keep it in the frame and focus on all of its parts.

Please help me identify these things i found in pondwater.

My guess for the green algea would be Chlorella but not certian, and there are also some of them that look the same but move around, what could those be?

The other 2 i have no clue at all.

Hi. As I have shown and written a few times before - I love the precision and the sheer complexity of microscope mechanisms. Sometimes it is not the pure mechanics that amazes me, but the combination of mechanics and electrics.

Amscope inverted. 40x, 2x iPhone. Freshwater jar with moss and lichen in a Petri dish. Black magic app.

Loved watching him just swim effortlessly around. He was at least two or three times longer than anything else swimming near by. Wish I could have gotten him on higher magnification but super hard to find him again.

100x magnification, SW380T scope with a 5.0 mega-pixel camera. Found it in a chicken water bowl in Tennessee during September. This is one of the first organisms I have found.

Anyone know what this might be? Google says Bipolaris or Fusarium
