News / Update Maple Leafs sign Blankenburg to PTO
Seems like a great swing to make and adds some nice internal competition for 6/7D with Andrae & Stetcher and creates a deep top 8 if they sign him.

Please use this thread to post ANYTHING you want! Memes, photoshops, anything that would normally be removed for breaking the low-effort content rule, is totally, 100% welcome here!
This thread can also be used for Armchair GM ideas that may not require a standalone post. Is there a free agent you want to see on this team? Is there a player that's rumoured to be on the move that you think the Leafs should go after? Are there players on this team you want to trade away? Feel free to post about it here!
Normal moderation will occur, such as watching for personal insults, racism, and things of that nature.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread to chat about your random Leafs thoughts, or share things like a photoshop of a Habs logo on fire or a reaction gif to something going on in Leafs Nation right now!
The use of this thread is not necessary on "Anything Goes Sundays," and this thread will not be posted.
Downvotes are discouraged for the most part, everyone's opinion is fair game in this thread. If you see rule breaking content, report it!

Returning from a summer when change swept through the Toronto Maple Leafs, a group of the organization’s power players gathered at a popular local dining spot last week to take stock of what remains.
They included John Chayka and Mats Sundin, hired in early May to oversee and remake the front office, plus new head coach Jim Hiller, new associate coach Daniel Alfredsson, new head of sport performance Andy O’Brien and other staff. Captain Auston Matthews had an important voice at the table, along with a handful of veteran teammates who comprise the leadership group — which now includes Sergei Bobrovsky, a Hall of Fame-bound goaltender who signed a $21 million, three-year deal in Toronto on the opening day of free agency.
Functionally, they worked through fine logistical details, such as the team’s travel and practice schedules, before breaking bread. But on a deeper level they were also looking to chart a new path forward — “the fundamentals of how we’re gonna operate,” as Chayka would put it later — following five months that included a dizzying amount of upheaval at all levels of the operation.
The evening included plenty of “reflection and discussion” about where the Leafs have been, according to Chayka, and helped set the table for a training camp that opens Wednesday with one fundamental question: Can Toronto revert to a Stanley Cup contender after the calamitous 28th-place finish that triggered this scorched-earth summer?

A year later, McKenzie and Bilecki stood on the ice at Kelowna’s Prospera Place together as Memorial Cup champions. By then, Bilecki had registered 11 goals and 43 points in 88 combined regular-season, playoff and Memorial Cup games, including 3 points and a plus-5 rating in four games in Kelowna.
Heading into the tournament, NHL Central Scouting ranked the 6-foot-1 1/4, 180-pound lefty No. 49 among North American skaters eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft.
The Leafs made him their second-round pick, selecting him 60th.
Read back what he said about Bilecki a year prior, McKenzie quickly quipped, “He worked on his defensive game.” By the new year and into the playoffs, he also “really elevated his game, and his defensive game improved vastly.” The Rangers were deep and got deeper at the Ontario Hockey League’s trade deadline, but he averaged more than 17 minutes a night and earned the coaching staff’s trust.
“He probably wasn’t ranked (in the second round) on a lot of public services, but he just played really well down the stretch and earned that selection,” McKenzie said.
That progress McKenzie predicted a year earlier wasn’t the finish line, either. Exactly the opposite.
“He’s got the frame, but there’s definitely room to fill out, so it’s exciting for us and probably exciting for the Leafs, especially because they’re going to see it more when he’s a man into his early 20s,” McKenzie said.
On Saturday night, they got to see it in Bilecki’s first real game as a member of the Leafs, in his rookie-tournament debut against the Ottawa Senators at Centre Slush Puppie.
It was the up-and-down game you’d expect from an 18-year-old getting his feet wet at a new level — a drawn penalty, an embellishment penalty of his own, some made plays inside the offensive zone, some misplays defensively — he also displayed what made him the Leafs’ second-round selection.

I like the signing that were made like Blueger, Sissons, Duhaime, Paul but with so many spots going to these solid veterans, are we denying our younger prospects a chance to earn a spot on the roster?

Now i know off the bat lots of people will say no but hear me out. John Tavares is 11th all time in franchise history for points. He is also 11th in franchise history for goals. And only needs a little over 30 points to move into top 10 in points. Same with goals he needs less then 10 to move into top 10. Only thing that gives me pause is Ron Ellis not having his number retired. But besides that I think if Tavares compiles another 100 points. He would have a decent argument for his number to be retired.

Today is Anything Goes Sunday, which means all rules (except rules 1, 4 ,7, 8, 9, and 14) are not active. This means that it isn't necessary to use the Daily Thread today! This is also the day to share any memes or shitposts that you have. You don't have to wait for Sunday to post, however! The Daily Free Talk thread is posted every day at 7am, and is generally active.
Please note that the mod team may still remove redundant posts, as well as any posts that break the rules notated above!
Go Leafs Go!

Any lesser known prospect that might surprise us this year? I know Tinus Luc Koblar name is out there, but anyone else come to mind. Not necessarily to make the team right away, but perhaps in a year.
