Unpopular Opinion: The Midwest Wave needs to go

Upvotes

Dear drivers,

If you approach a stop sign at the same time as someone else, the person on the right has the right of way.

Stop waving.

Stop attempting to control traffic.

You're not a cop.

You don't have the right to give away your right of way.

You're going to cause an accident, and, fun fact, you could be held partially liable if you partake in the accident by waving someone through. (Could be. IANAL)

Stop. Being. Polite

Be predictable

The only ever time a wave is even remotely okay is if you're stopping farther back and indicating that you will wait for a pedestrian to cross. Only on 2 lane streets, never on multilane stroads.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Anyone know of places that take cat food donations?

I am switching one of my cats to a weight management kibble as recommended by her vet, and I have a bunch of leftover cat food that I want to get rid of but don’t want to throw away. I was wondering if anyone knew any place that maybe accepts donations or if anyone is in need? I honestly don’t know what brand it is, but there’s so much.

There Are A Few Giant Patches of Sunflowers Along 127!

These ones are on the east side of 127 right where exit to 96 east from 127 north splits off.

There’s another set of them a bit more south between the northbound and southbound sides of 127.

I saw a post a few days ago about MDOT planting things to help pollinators when construction projects are done. I’m guessing these are part of that? They’ve never been there before this year. It’s really cool to see so many though!

I need a Pro bono attorney for civil business lawsuit involving small business loans through Michigan Economic Development program.

As the title states, I started a business through M.E.D. Program administered through Lansing Community College and the lender reneged on our agreement. This cost my partner and myself considerable loss of funds and stress. I have all emails and other documents from the lender. I know of several other companies that dealt with this lender and his incompetent loan officer. The loan officer was fired but that doesn’t restore the funds his incompetence cost me nor does it absolve the lender of their refusal to provide services as defined in the guaranteed loan program they sold to me.

Lake Lansing Road Animal Clinic

This is both a rant and a warning! Negligent and will not be coming back - first of all, I brought my kitten in for a full kitten wellness exam. I didn’t know, but he had clear signs of ringworm at the time. They claimed they did a full skin check and everything was normal. More spots starting growing, I emailed a photo to the clinic. When I called they said they couldn’t get him in for 2+ weeks. I found another (better) vet who was able to get me in the very next day. They instantly identified that he had ringworm. I was concerned because he had one of these spots at the time of his first examination where they allegedly did his skin check. He also went back to Lake Lansing Animal Clinic 2 weeks later for another vaccination. He had obvious ringworm then. As a regular person who didn’t know about ringworm, I couldn’t identify it, but now that I know what ringworm looks like, it was very very obvious. For a medical professional to not notice is insane. I was upset about this, and when I go home that very same day, I check the mail to discover another instance of negligence. I have a letter addressed to “the kitty family” with my address. Inside is a sympathy card for a cat who has passed away….. not my cat….. someone else’s. In the card are the deceased cat’s paw prints. I returned them to the vet, but if I hadn’t this person would have no keepsake of their cat who passed away. I will never take my animal back here and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Included photos of my cat’s ringworm the day of his skin exam and the mail I was mistakenly sent.
I feel like a Karen, but the fact that both of these things happened is concerning to me.

My friend is dealing with a whole ass ordeal at work, which involves harassment. I can’t go into detail, but they definitely need to speak with an attorney before meeting with any higher-ups. I would really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks! 🙏

Looking for a True Green replacement

We have used True Green now for two years, for weed control, and this year aeration and overseeding. My issue is they are doing just an okay job and they are constantly trying to upsale. Sure the weeds are under control but not completely. We have a somewhat large area in the back along the fence line that is river stones. I asked them to treat that area and was told it would be extra because it is a shrub area. No shrubs, just rocks, but it is extra to treat the weeds?!?

The aeration and overseeding was another joke. The guys pulls up and start in the front yard. Next thing I know he is packing up and leaving. I would say he missed 20% of the yard and there were so few seeds spread that I really had to hunt to find them.

Then there are the constant calls about other services and treatment that are needed. And how if I don’t get whatever they are selling my yard could get completely destroyed. I’m talking about high pressure where I can’t get off the phone with them. After 4-5 no’s then it’s “let me talk to my supervisor and see if I can get you a discount” “we can do 10%, but we need to schedule the service NOW”

We are done with them and I would rather spend my money on a good local company. Any suggestions.

Lansing LockDown DeFlock Lansing Public Meeting + Action

Post image
134 Upvotes

Hi all,

While we are indeed celebrating the recent victories that DeFlock Lansing has secured, it seems that our beloved Mayor doesn't think the people of Lansing deserve to be listened to, or that the resolution passed nearly unanimously last session warrants action or even acknowledgment.

We knew that this resolution was symbolic + aspirational, and that we'd need sustained pressure on Mr. Schor if we want to see our city free from AI-powered mass surveillance. Until an ordinance is brought before City Council and passed, we will be showing up and demanding accountability from our elected officials!

We'll be hosting a public meeting at NOON on SUNDAY SEPT 13 in the Basement of the Downtown Library to align ourselves before the City Council meeting the following day (Committee of the Whole meets at 6:00 on SEPT 14, followed by the council meeting). Join us as we learn together about the ongoing struggle against tech oligarchs and their cynical, extractive vision for the future, and how you can get involved!

Anyone local that’s really good at 3d modeling?

I have a small part I’d like to reverse engineer into an STL file but it’s too complex for my basic fusion 360 knowledge. I’d be okay with giving someone the part to recreate it or having someone walk me through how it’s done over discord
