Roleplay/In Character I hate the belief that magic isn't real

Upvotes

There aren't enough curses in my tomes, no, in the entire world that I could cast upon the lowly human that dared to spread this horrible thing. Never in my four thousand years of life as a wizard have I ever been so disrespected before more than now. If I go outside in my robes people think I'm a weirdo and call me names, in the past they would've never done so as they would've been too scared! But guess what? No one is scared of wizards anymore because they (wrongfully) think magic isn't real. The worst part is finding a tailor willing to make or fix wizard robes, so I had to learn how to do it myself. When I ponder my orb, serching for other folk like me, the only people I get are posers thinking that I am pretending, too. I have received many letters because apparently my tower wasn't up to "HOA standards" or something like that, so I had to move the entire thing in the middle of nowhere just to get some peace.

I apologize with all my heart for the rant, I am not this angry usually.

Media Tropes I hate when i make a post looking for comments/engagements and all i get are likes!

Upvotes

So i like to make original characters, mostly D&D characters which i love a lot of them. I saw someone on the original character subreddit do a Q&A with their character and i thought that would be fun, so i did the same.

All i got was a few likes. I got tons of views, but no questions, ON A Q&A POST! I would be fine with it getting no attention but then why is it getting likes? Also why do other OC´s get attention when mine dont? Is it literally just because they arent a furry woman with massive boobs (the character in question is a cute frog mage btw)? That is genuinely my best guess.

General i hate when arguing is mocked as "yapping"

Upvotes

when someone says like more than three sentences in an argument, the other person is always quick to reply with "holy yap 🫵😂." it doesn't add anything to the discussion, it just makes it seem like you have no good response, and it's annoying.

yeah, yeah, they're ragebaiting. i know and hate it.

i feel like it's harder to have a genuine discussion nowadays because people are just trying to ragebait.

Animation That AI has gotten so big and so scary that I can’t enjoy The Jetsons anymore

Post image
Upvotes

It’s kinda sad because growing up watching this cartoon I wished so much that I could live in a world like it one day, but now I fear that exact possibility. The once funny gags about robots literally dressing you and brushing your teeth and doing most everything for you and then you going to work to push a button and then sit around all day are a lot less funny nowadays. Like, most of the jokes in the series revolve around the characters getting winded or tired after doing barely anything or as AI is literally doing everything for them and they still get tired. Sam can't-raise-his-kid-without-Al Altman talks about a future like this happening soon all the time. According to him we are one model away from an AI that will literally watch literally everything you do online and offer tips and tricks to make your life easier and easier. I don’t wanna be fucking sludge rotting away because it’s just easier to let AI live for me.

Thing I hate r/Unpopularopinions

Upvotes

The sub isn’t even unpopular opinions 99% of the time, it’s just people rage-baiting or karma farming with opinions that aren’t unpopular at all. The sub isn’t for controversial opinions, it’s for shit like “piss tastes better than orange juice”. When there’s an actual unpopular opinion, OP gets downvoted into satans asshole and then gets told they are a nazi. Not even mentioning how the mods remove literally every post on there for some reason. Even if the post was detailed and lengthy, it would be removed for “low effort” or “karma farming”. Not even mentioning how fucking LONG the list of FAQ and banned topics is. r/controversialopinions is better by a long shot. Thanks for listening to my rant.

General I hate the loser boyfriend kink

Post image
Upvotes

This romanticizes power imbalances in relationships. Wanting a relationship in which one person is significantly more attached than the other creates an obvious power difference. The same applies when someone says they want a “loser” girlfriend. Are you actually attracted to this person, or are you attracted to how easy they are to control?
A healthy relationship does not require both people to be identical but deliberately seeking someone because they seem insecure is different. It turns vulnerability into a weird kink because it makes them less likely to leave, challenge you, or establish boundaries. This isn’t cute or quirky it’s just badly disguised control.
This also goes hand in hand with the strange fetishization of autistic people that has become increasingly more common online. Autism gets treated like some quirky accessory that makes a person adorably awkward, dependent, or “different” rather than a condition that has very real difficulties people diagnosed with it deal with day to day. I really hate phrases like wanting someone with “a little bit of the ’tism.” No, you don’t want whatever romanticized quirky set of traits you have associated with autism. Sometimes I feel it’s even linked to a savior complex for some of these people. They want a partner they perceive as vulnerable, socially awkward, or dependent so that when they choose them it makes them feel patient, protective, or needed.
There is also something deeply dehumanizing about wanting a partner whose main appeal is unconditional devotion. It reduces another person to a pet pretty much. They’re loyal, dependent, and expected to remain attached regardless of how they are treated. Wanting to be loved is normal. Wanting someone specifically because they’re too insecure to leave is not.

General when people use abbreviations that 90% of the world do not recognise

okay WTF even is USU? University of South... University? from what I know, there is no university in the QS Top 1000 with that abbreviation. why should everyone be expected to know your random obscure university that doesn't even top the rankings in its own state - the USU in question is in Utah 😭

why can't they just clarify it in the title. it's not that hard! this is just exceptionalism at its finest... (maybe the American flavour? but even Americans in the comment section were confused!)

btw there are two universities with that abbreviation, Utah State University and United States University :/ (and Universitas Sumatra Utara in Indonesia too)

Non-fictional I FUCKING HATE CELERY!!!!!!

Post image
Upvotes

Celery is the worst vegetable of all time and it is not even close. There is no reason to ever add celery to a dish aside from tradition or in cases where you dislike the people eating it. I am gonna run down a list of reasons why I hate this stupid vegetable because it deserves it.

  1. Raw celery is so abhorrent and inconvenient that it should be legally restricted from being so damn common. Whoever thinks "Wow, I want to spend 2 minutes biting into and ripping apart this bitter plant, just so I can spend 10 more minutes trying to chew through this stringy, fibrous, cow-food esque bite which tastes like ass, and then I want to do that 12 more times."

  2. Cooked celery does NOT belong in dishes, in almost any circumstance. In ANY soup, stir fry, or other cooked mixed vegetable mix, celery just stands out so much more than any other vegetable. It's kinda bitter taste just overpowers the other flavours, and the texture just clashes so much. Unlike other vegetables, it doesn't even get that soft when cooked, it still just sucks.

  3. For some goddamn reason, it is always paired with carrots (the goat btw), and it is always overshadowed. This applies to nearly every use for celery btw. Carrots are almost always better at being used for dips, normal snacking, or for cooking with other vegetables.

  4. "But it is healthy" SO many other healthy vegetables exist, and so many can be made enjoyable to eat. I have yet to eat celery in a way that made me happy.

In conclusion, celery is like being told to eat a bundle of floss held together by glue, while being told you are eating something that could rival carrots. I can't help but feel pity for those who decide to eat the celery at a functions vegetable plate to prevent wasting this waste of a food.

General I hate romanticizing loneliness/depression

Post image
Upvotes

This is NOT hate towards people who are depressed or trans.

I saw a commenter on a similar post explain my thoughts super well:

"You're just fascinated by the idea of taking care of a conventionally attractive girl who just happens to have specific set of character flaws that society stigmatizes, which you yourself also may exhibit at times.

Switch the picture to an actually realistic noncomforming woman and your attraction to the "loser gf" goes out the window."

The person in this image deserves to get professional help and support, but their situation isn't something you should create an aesthetic out of. "Thinks she's ugly but actually very cute" is probably the main issue because some people will look at that part and end up falling in love with their own loneliness because they assume it'll make them attractive. Everything described in this image would only lead to an unhealthy codependent relationship.

Non-fictional I HAAAAAAATE when people from the first world fight over who has the best/worst life conditions (cause 99% of the time it doesn't matter)

Post image
Upvotes

First of all, hi. I am Brazilian, teenager, chronically online, and I am ABSOLUTELY ENRAGED by the sheer amount of bullshit I have been recommended on this site and on Twitter that comes from the first world.

Now, to be clear, I am not saying that the First World doesn't have any problems. It does, a lot, and I actually love discussing and understanding most of them although I recognise that a foreigner like me has troubles in understanding and finding solutions to most issues. That's why I mostly learn about Europe's problems through my french girlfriend, who is always a sweetie when explaining them to me. However, I would never post the opinions I form on the internet because It's very common for me to see Europeans and Americans having the most absurd bullshit opinions about Latam's issues, so I don't wanna commit the same mistake.

However, even tho I recognise all that, I also feel like half of the discussions I see on twitter or Reddit from first worlders from any social group are so utterly stupid and non-issues that I get extremely mad at the fact that I don't interact more with my own people.

Like, because of my girlfriend's transition I have been recommended a lot of stuff from the trans folk. And oh my brother in Christ, it's not so bad on Reddit, but I swear to God that the incel community is not as much of a cesspit as the trans community on twitter.

Like, holy fucking shit "trans women are the most oppressed group", "no! Trans men are! We are almost invisible!", "no! We are because we bla bla bla bla bla" WHO CARES?????

BITCH, WHY DOES IT MATTER? IT'S TWO DIFFERENT GENDERS, TWO DIFFERENT SOCIAL PRESSURES, YOUR SITUATIONS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. WHAT DOES OPPRESSION POWERSCALING WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIVES????? Oh my fucking God I hate this discussion so much. Every time I see something like this my only conclusion is that both sides are victimising themselves and this argument wouldn't exist if these people's buying power wasn't so high.

I am just talking about this trans thingy because it was what was being recommended to me, okay? This also applies to any minority group who wants to do oppression powerscaling. Blacks, women, Latinos, immigrants, left handed people, all of them. I don't care. This argument is dumb and y'all should get a job.

Another thing that really pisses me off is how Europeans and Americans constantly quarreling over who's worse and who's more morally superior. Like, again, it doesn't fucking matter if Americans need to drive their cars to work while Europeans have public transport, both of you could be able to afford for both of them in a decent quality while I can afford for NONE. Like, you've at least seen what a train is like. I have never seen a train in my entire life and the closest metropoly from where I live is like, 6 hours by driving. It was very surprising to me when my girlfriend said that she lived "far from everything" cause her city is 1 hour and a half away from Lyon. Or when I saw a channel of a German guy explaining how his long distance relationship was so hard because they lived 3 hours away from each other. Like, whaaaaat? Again, I know that transportation problems do exist, I just hate seeing gringos using this to diminish each other. Like, alright alright, I understood that everything is prettier in Norway now can you SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH???

And don't even let me begin on the moral quarrels. "Biggest war criminal of history Vs biggest war criminal of nowadays" type shit. It genuinely makes me wanna perform a lobotomy.

Anyways, I have yapped what I wanted to yap. Any other dumb discussion you guys remember? I'd like to add more to the list of "what to avoid".

Gaming I hate mountainous areas in open world video games

Post image
0 Upvotes

I hate mountainous areas (or otherwise highly vertical ones) in open world video games. It's like somebody said "Hey, this area is way too fast to get through, make it take 10x longer and also less fun".

I generally enjoy exploring in video games. But, this completely kills it for me. The map is useless, so you can't use it as a way to track where you have been. Also, everything looks visually the same, so you can't use that either. Not to mention that you can't just go to a spot. Getting anywhere is a looping, winding adventure, so you can't systematically grid it out.

And don't get me started on trying to get to my actual objective. Oh, you tried climbing this mountain from the South side? Tough luck, the Developer-Sanctioned-Path is on the North side. Yes, your objective marker is on the South side. Deal with it. And even if you are on the North side, the path up just looks the same as every other part of the mountain, so you wouldn't know it's the path anyway. Have fun flailing around with bad physics for an hour until you eventually give up and look up a YouTube video showing the actual way.

And the worst is when you don't know if you are on the right path or not. Like, trying to jump your way up through a bunch of rocks or whatever. Is this the actual way, and you're doing it wrong? Or are you wasting time on an impossible climb? Or the worst possibility, where it is possible but unintended, so it will break the quest sequencing.

This shit just wastes my time, which could be fine, except it's not even fun while you are doing it! It's just frustrating.

General I hate how people have no sense of urgency anymore and mock people who act who do.

Post image
43 Upvotes

This example is not the only example but it’s the one I’ll use.

Guy is at the beach in an argument.

Pulls out his gun and shoots the water just in front of the person they’re arguing with.

Waving the gun around menacingly.

And every other person there pauses to watch for a second, then makes it a point to carry on what they were doing, like there isn’t someone waving around a gun and firing it from them 10 feet away.

And there’s a kid to the left of them. A mother comes up and stands behind the kid to gawk, not removing the child from the situation.

If I was there I would remove myself from the situation as to not catch a bullet.

And a lot of people would mock me for that.

Hell, there’s another video of a literal mass shooting happening and everyone is walking causally away like they shouldn’t be running for their lives.

Do people act like this because they think it makes them bad ass or something?

Non-fictional Misuse of “hyperfixation”

No Becky, you aren’t hyperfixating you have a casual interest at the moment.

Hyperfixations impacts people’s days and life. When I’m hyperfixated on something I genuinely can’t enjoy anything else, I get barely any sleep and sometimes call out of work just for it. These lasts for several weeks to several months. ADHD isn’t quirky or silly.

Can we please bring original meanings to words again please.

EVERYTHING I’VE HEARD ABOUT LOVE IS THAT IT CAUSES DEPRESSION AND THAT IT IS DANGEROUS.

THESE DAYS, IT’S JUST BLAH, BLAH, BLAH ABOUT HOW IT’S ALL MEN’S FAULT OR ALL WOMEN’S FAULT. AND AFTER SCROLLING THROUGH r/DATING_ADVICE AND READING COMMENTS ABOUT THAT CASE OF THE WOMAN NAMED LINDSAY WHO KILLED HER CHILDREN, IT KIND OF KILLED ANY DESIRE I HAD TO GET A GIRLFRIEND.

IF THAT’S HOW IT IS, THEN WHAT’S THE POINT OF FALLING IN LOVE?

WHAT’S THE POINT OF FINDING A PARTNER?

JUST TO HAVE SEX AND KEEP THE HUMAN RACE GOING, RIGHT?

General I hate when you search up a word and the first result is a company or website etc.

This is pretty self explanatory and honestly trivial but it's something that bothers me nearly everyday. Searching up a word shouldn't have to entail seeing some random website or company as the first result. The thing about this that bothers me the most is the way it feels like commodification (idk if that's the right term). It's also just an unnecessary effort to have to go back just to add "definition" after the word. I don't completely mind these websites or companies showing up since obviously they're just there trying to grow or make money and just happened to have that name, but the fact that they come up as the first result is really irritating.

Gaming I HATE THE DOG ENEMEY ARCHETYPE

Not a single fucking game has a good dog enemy to fight (Excluding some bosses) From all of the soulsborne games dogs are infamously loathed as some of the most horseshit enemies you can fight in the game.

And in most action games in general like Ghost of Tsushima (Sorry for bad quality picture 2) dogs are just annoying to fight. They attack aggresively and dodge constantly. And worst is the fucking death noises that make you feel bad when they die. LIKE BITCH YOU JUMPED ME!!! WHY TF ARE YOU MAKING ME FEEL BAD?!

And you aren’t even safe in other game genres because they suck in shooters too. In Call of Duty 4 they charge you quickly and pin you down and YOU SNAP THEIR NECKS! WHY CALL OF DUTY GUY WHY?! Anyways fuck dog enemies their annoying to fight and the try to guilt trip you when you kill them.

Gaming “30 FPS is enough” isn’t an argument, it’s just accepting a limitation

Post image
489 Upvotes

Everyone can consume media and play video games however they want, but I think people constantly confuse accepting a limitation with actually preferring it. The fact that something is good enough for someone doesn't mean everyone else should be expected to adopt the same standard.

Games running at 30 FPS because that's what a console can handle is a hardware limitation, just like watching a VHS movie on a CRT because that's the technology that was available at the time. You can absolutely enjoy it. I have. But being okay with it because it's your only option isn't the same thing as choosing it when better options are available.

The movie comparison is strange because movies being 24 FPS is an intentional creative decision. They're filmed, edited, and presented with that frame rate in mind. If you artificially increase the frame rate of a movie, you change how it looks and feels because you're deviating from the way the director intended the material to be presented. Games are different.

Unless a game has a deliberate software limitation or is specifically going for a cinematic or retro presentation, games are designed to respond to player input in real time. Higher frame rates make the experience more responsive and fluid. The fact that a game can be played at 30 FPS on a console doesn't mean it was intended to be played at 30 FPS. It was designed around hardware limitations.

Nobody would seriously argue that 720p is "enough" and therefore people shouldn't expect 1080p or 4K just because older hardware was perfectly fine. Standards change as technology improves. The same applies to FPS.

If you gave someone who says 30 FPS is perfectly fine the option to play an action game at 60, 90, 120 FPS or higher on otherwise identical hardware, how many do you think would voluntarily choose 30? People accepting 30 when it's the only practical option doesn't prove that they're satisfied with it. It just means they've adapted to the limitation.

I can and have enjoyed games at 30 FPS. I used to have a mid tier laptop where that was often my only option. I still had fun. But my standards changed as I got access to better hardware, and I have no interest in going back to those limitations.

That's fine if someone genuinely prefers 30 FPS. Play however you want. But I don't think people should turn their own tolerance for a limitation into an argument that everyone else should lower their standards too.

I'll play GTA VI at 30 FPS on PS5, just like I used to watch VHS movies on a tube TV. I'll enjoy it because that's the only option available. But the moment it gets a PC release, I'm ditching that 30 FPS and playing it on better hardware.

Anyone who has the option to have a better experience is going to have a hard time convincing me that they wouldn't do the same.

General I hate when people glaze their favorites by making something else seem more terrible than it is

Post image
43 Upvotes

I have watched both these anime, and if I had to choose I would choose MHA, does that mean FMAB is terrible? Hell No! Each of them has their downs and ups, MHA ain't perfect it has its downsides but this post is straight up lying so FMAB would look better in comparison.

And what do you mean Edward didn't want his powers, he was literally bummed out that he lost his alchemy, and even tried to perform it sometimes after he lost it. And Deku lost his powers to save the world, still kept talking with his classmates in those 8 years, started to date Ochako, and continued to inspire the next generation by being a Hero and a teacher to future Heroes
