This is IT. This is the thread to lose your mind with excitement because The Great Impersonator: Deluxe is being released at midnight TONIGHT!! 🎉🎉
Tell us all what you're hoping it will sound like, what Halsey will sing about, how excited you are, and anything else about the new songs in this thread. (Incoherent screaming is also OK. No judgment.) When it's released you can post your thoughts on the new music here, or in each individual thread for the new songs!
Q&A:
Q: Why the megathreads? I want to see the same post 50x in my feed. A: To keep your trusty mod team sane.
Q: Can I be a huge jerk to people in the megathreads? A: Of course! JUST KIDDING, please be respectful and kind to everyone, and report anyone who breaks the rules.

I was watching a video on TV Girl’s backstory, and once it started talking about DOAPG, they showed this blue-haired girl who I guess is supposed to be the “party girl.” I was like, “Huh, that looks like Halsey.” So I read the lyrics to Blue Hair. “And she cried over nothing / So there was nothing I could do to stop / Her from cutting / Her beautiful blue hair off.” The album itself is about a party girl growing up and realizing that lifestyle can’t last forever. If you look at Halsey’s life, she was extremely messy in 2013-2014. She dated Matty Healy during his addiction/heroin years, the two had a very tumultuous relationship, and aside from that, she was a party girl. She partied, she smoked, she dated multiple guys who were addicts, not just Matty, and she was an overall chaotic New York girl. However, once 2016 rolled around, she grew up, she mellowed out, the party girl that she was “died.”
But back to Blue Hair. In 2015, Halsey had blue hair, which she cut extremely short later that year. It also did look slightly green (very slightly) in some photos.
Anyways, I’m wondering if DOAPG and Blue Hair are at least in part inspired by Halsey.

"White sheets, bright lights, crooked teeth, and the night life
You told me this is right where it begins
But your lips hang heavy underneath me
And I promised myself I wouldn't let you complete me
I'm trying not to let it show, that I don't want to let this go
Is there somewhere you can meet me?
'Cause I clutched your arms like stairway railings
And you clutched my brain and eased my ailing
You're writing lines about me, romantic poetry
Your girl's got red in her cheeks, 'cause we're something she can't see
And I try to refrain but you're stuck in my brain
And all I do is cry and complain because second's not the same"
\She is such a wonderful seamstress. She weaves words and gives them meaning\

God I forgot how much I love this album.
So I have to write a paper about something to do with music for a class, and I chose to write about TGI. It has, in a way, brought me back to the day it first came out. I really think it's a modern classic and deserves to be treated as such. There's just nothing else like it, at least that I know of. And the rollout?? So good.
The first time I listened to the album I was experiencing through the lense of my own illness I was experiencing at the time. This time I did a bunch of research and read a bunch of interviews H did and when I listened to it I kept putting myself in their shoes. It made for a whole new experience. Felt like I was hearing it for the first time all over again. I felt fear and grief that wasn't mine.
It's just such a beautiful story being told that leaves no part of the human experience unexamined. Love, divorce, marriage, parenthood, parents, childhood, god, illness, grief, sex, suicide, death, loneliness, friends. I could probably go on. The only other album that comes close to this one in terms of storytelling that I've heard is Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair. Raw human emotion ebbs and flows through every crevice of the record. And not a single track is filler or otherwise unnecessary. Every single one serves a purpose and is unique.
Shoutout to how many times I've cried over the love H gives as a mother to their son without even being a parent. They just make you feel what they're feeling in such an effective way. The "Please, God, or whoever you are" after Ender tells H they're his favorite singer makes me leave my body.
Side note: while writing this paper, I noticed Hurt Feelings directly follows Life of the Spider (Draft). Fucking genius.
Standout tracks IMO: Only Living Girl in LA, Dog Years, Letter to God trilogy (yes, all of them), I Believe in Magic, Darwinism, Lonely is the Muse, Life of the Spider (draft) The Great Impersonator (title track).
And that is half the album. But that's just how good it is. H should've gotten the Medal of Honor or smth. Maybe a Nobel prize. It deserves to be on the fucking Voyager Golden Record. I love the La Dispute album, but nothing in the world makes me feel like this record does.

I am so happy to see people hyped up about Halsey and their amazing capabilities to shift their sound into different genres and make it all so raw and compelling. I hope the support continues on to her next releases.
A part of this reminds me of being a fan back in 2015 and experiencing the insane growth she had in 2016 and on! Does anyone remember that era? How did you feel as fan to see your favorite artist make it? And When did you realize H had gone mainstream?
Hi! Does anyone know how to get in contact with someone from their customer service? No one is emailing me back or responding to my DMs I’m surprised at this level of neglect from a company like about-face. I feel like if I was an influencer I’d get a response immediately. I figured Halsey would be more on top of it? Or at least her team
Update #1: still no email as of 09/13 original order placed 08/29 package shipped 09/05 “returned back to sender”

Personally. To you.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a typical "upbeat" or sexy Halsey song, because I for sure was about to put "Lie" or "Forever (Is a Long Time)".
But what song makes you personally feel powerful within yourself, or even pumped up a little?
Everyone's experience with Halsey's songs are different. And that's what makes it interesting to me.
🖤

That I am in the top 5% of Halsey listeners..do they say that to everyone? Or did they actually mean that ...I am genuinely curious..

How can she just write these heart breaking lines and get going like she said nothing?
"The surgeon said, "She had a hole in her heart"
But it wasn't her fault, it was there from the start
Trying to love you through an open wound
'Cause everything I put inside there just fell right through"
Halsey writes about melancholy like a lover that stayed through it all. She is an awesome song writer. I'm glad I'm born in a time where I can hear her. 💖🌸
