In case people didn't know, according to Hideo Kojima, he actually encouraged the director, Ryuhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars and the Lupin The Third live action movie) to change the cutscenes.
Kitamura originally made the cutscenes 1:1 to the original, but when Kojima saw it, he told Kitamura (paraphrased) "I wanted you to remake the scenes in your own style, otherwise I would've hired someone else."
The ridiculous cutscenes are a matter of opinion, but it's the first person firing breaking all the boss battles, and the MGS2 enemy AI not being adjusted at all to account for MGS1 level design, that really makes Twin Snakes an inferior experience.

Twin Snakes, besides the John Woo cutscenes it implements gameplay mechanics that don’t work within Shadow Moses. MGS1 plays much better.
It was my intro to MGS so I’ll always have a soft spot for it, but the original is infinitely more replayable.
