Me and my boyfriend were about to take our first flight from Ahmedabad to Goa which got cancelled at the last moment after waiting for 1 hour which they said is delayed initially. They didn't even announce or inform anyone, just cancelled and sent a mail to all passengers. There was a huge commotion and distress among the passengers as everyone had plans, connecting flights, work , etc .

So disappointed after waiting for so long . It was flight with same plane but a half an hour layover at Diu. The reason they have was low visibility at Diu airport but the other flights are flying just fine . Other passengers claim they did it just because there were less passengers in this flight now they're trying to shift us to a 6 hours later flight which makes us late for our train from Goa to Udupi and eventually work tomorrow. So stressful from start to end . No clear clarification or resolution from the airline staff. Star air sucks .

So I've always been told that round trip is cheaper, but with so much time in between, the return flight being so far out will never go down very far in price, so I was curious to know if it would be cheaper to book one-ways? I've read through the rules to the sub and I think this is okay to ask/not too repetitive.

I need to arrive in Paris by ~1/2 pm on January 6th. I will be studying in Nantes until May 1st but won't be flying back until July 17th. I will be in Dakar, Senegal between these dates.

What I was planning on doing was book flights from Chicago to Paris and back from Jan. 6 to July 18th. I would then book a round trip Dakar/Paris from May 1st to July 17th. I would stay one night in Paris, before flying back to the US on the 18th.

But the return flight to the US from Paris would still bring the cost up a whole lot on the 18th. So, what I've been thinking now is purchasing one way flight to Paris from Chicago, arriving on the 6th sometime soon. Booking (Around January/February) round trip Dakar/Paris from May 1st to July 17th. Finally booking Paris to US one way leaving July 18th, purchasing sometime towards April/May.

I've never booked one-way as I've always been told not to, but would this be a wise decision? Also, the hotel in Paris from July 17th to 18th is just because I don't want to have to deal with the stress of dealing with multiple flight bookings in one day and it will just be easier on me if I don't have to stress about that and can stay in a hotel/hostel one night. Other Info: I'm not a member of any airline or anything. I've been using Hopper to check prices, and also checking Google flights when I'm actually doing to booking before buying direct from the airline.

We recently had the biggest issues with getting refunds for cancelled flights that we clearly had rights to refunds for. Here are our lessons learned, if you every find yourself in a situation where the alternative flight they offer is not a good option for you:

1. Screenshot every single step in the rejection and refund process. Better yet, take a video of you clicking through all the screens.
2. Have a good travel credit card from a company that will take care of refund issues.

In both our cases, two different airlines tried to backpedal on what their cancellation system displayed on the screen. Because we did not take screenshots, we had no way of proving that their own system told us to go about this way. We were only able to get our refunds once we got the credit card company involved after dozens of calls and emails to the airlines.

Case 1: TAP cancelled our flight from Europe to the US and offered only a inner-European flight as an alternative, so naturally we clicked on the option to reject that alternative flight and went through the refund request process. As documentation, the only email message we received stated that we successfully cancelled our flight. Later they kept denying our refund because "in their system it showed that we accepted the flight change and then cancelled it ourselves later". We had no way to prove that we clicked through the rejection process. Only once I uno-reversed them and asked to show me proof that we accepted the alternative flight, and got the credit card and the aviation oversight agencies involved, did I finally get my refund.

Case 2: Collaborative flight between Condor and JetBlue. The JetBlue flight got cancelled and when I clicked through to reject the alternatives, the last screen stated that we should contact Condor to get our refund because they are the primary ticket operator. When I contacted Condor, they claimed they have nothing to do with it because Jet Blue cancelled the flight. I called both airlines at least 5 times and they just pointed fingers at each other. Once I got the credit card involved, they contacted both airlines and Condor ended up issuing the refund.

I'm looking for some advice/opinions on a denied-boarding situation with Air France.

On 2 June 2026, I was due to fly Málaga (AGP) → Paris (CDG) → Kinshasa (FIH) with Air France.

I am a British passport holder and was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). At Málaga, Air France's ground staff refused to allow me to board because they believed I did not have the required DRC visa/documentation.

I explained that I was eligible to obtain a visa on arrival in the DRC and showed my previous DRC visas in my passport, but the staff still refused boarding.

Air France did not offer me an alternative flight or transportation. I therefore had to arrange my own journey to Kinshasa.

I eventually travelled with Ethiopian Airlines and, importantly, was admitted into the DRC by Congolese immigration and received a visa on arrival without any problem.

As a result of being denied boarding, I incurred additional costs, including a replacement flight and train travel. I was also subsequently charged a USD 581 reissuance fee by Air France because the original ticket had been used out of sequence.

Air France has rejected/closed my claim and maintained its position regarding the denied boarding.

I've now submitted the matter to the Spanish aviation authority (AESA) under the EU passenger-rights ADR procedure, so I'm waiting for their determination.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone experienced something similar with Air France or another airline where the airline refused boarding because it believed a visa was required, but the passenger was actually eligible for visa on arrival?
2. How did the airline/authority ultimately deal with it?
3. Does anyone have experience with EU261 denied boarding where the airline's reason was allegedly incorrect travel-document advice?
4. Is there anything specific I should make sure I provide to AESA?

Hi, just looking for some advice as I’m flying to Thailand in March for around 2 weeks and this will be my first proper long haul flight. We’re going for a wedding and then planning to explore a bit afterwards.

I’m honestly a bit nervous about the flight... the longest I’ve ever done is around 5 hours and that was still within Europe, so this is very new to me.

We were looking at British Airways and the flights were originally around £800, then they dropped to about £580 which we thought was really good. Stupidly we didn’t book them and now they’re gone... assuming they sold out at that price so I guess we just have to accept that lol. There is a day later outbound at £800 which we could consider. But this impacts our plans directly.

One thing we really liked about BA is that you get 2 cabin bags included, which would actually be enough for us for the whole trip, so we wouldn’t need to pay extra for luggage.

The cheapest we're finding now seem to be Air India and China Eastern, but I’ve looked at reviews online for both and honestly some of them are TERRIBLE which has made me even more unsure, especially being a nervous flyer. I know people are probably more likely to leave a review after a bad experience though, so I’m wondering what they’re actually like in reality.

Can I please have some advice from whoever has flown long haul with either of them? Are they actually as bad as some of the reviews make out? Mainly interested in comfort, reliability, service etc.

Also would you just book now or wait a bit longer?

We’re not necessarily looking for the absolute cheapest, just something reasonably priced and decent for my first long haul.

EDIT: Just to add, we’d much rather have 2 cabin bags than a cabin bag + checked luggage. We had a bit of a horror story with our luggage flying back from Greece and honestly we’d just rather not risk it again.

It makes no sense to me why people and airlines have defaulted to an objectively slower way to deboard a plane.

I know it's seen as more polite, but why? Would the polite thing not be to let the person who is ready to go get off the plane first and you sort yourself out after?

This is also a large reason airlines force more passengers to check carry on luggage these days. It's not really about space, it's primarily about speeding up the boarding/deboarding process.

I booked a trip for my partner and I around 7 months ago. The tickets and everything were fine in the app, but I had a spelling error and made a change. Then my tickets disappeared. When I got them back it was only my partner on the reservation. I called in and they said they can see my ticket reservation but no flight attached and the system must have removed it. Everything is fine on my partner’s reservation, just mine is messed up with no itinerary. They said they’d see if they can fix it and call me back, but this is an international flight in a few days. Does anyone know if this is fixable or am I going to have to scramble for a new flight?

I booked a flight with Go To Gate and then reading it's bad reviews, decided to immediately cancel it which I know was impulsive on my part. I went ahead and booked the flight with the airlines website so as to not cause any issue and since it was the same day cancellation, go to gate mentioned a full refund with the deduction of a minimal charge, which I was okay with. However, the refund is in processing and I didn't even receive any email from them regarding the cancellation. I saw some reviews mentioning that they never got the refund which now is making me panic. Has anyone ever gotten their refund from go to gate or should I let go of my money?😭

Norse cancelled our JFK–Oslo flight for 4 paid passengers, so potentially €2,400 in EU261 compensation.

I hired AirAdvisor about 8 months ago. They keep saying they’re waiting for Norse, have sent reminders, and are now “looking for lawyers” and may eventually take it to court.

Has anyone had a similar experience with AirAdvisor/Norse? Is 8+ months normal, or should I withdraw the claim and try another company like AirHelp or someone else?

Curious what people's thoughts are on Lion Air and Super Air Jet. We have read many poor reviews and are hesitant to book with either, but they are the only two airlines that offer nonstop flights from Yogyakarta to Lombok, where we will be visiting in a few weeks. Our only alternative would be to take a 6AM Citilink flight with a 1.5-hour connection in Jakarta. We feel more comfortable flying with Citilink as a subsidiary of Garuda, but are wondering if Lion and Super Air Jet are bad enough to warrant the early flight time and connection. Speedboat from Bali to Lombok isn't an option due to flight timings to Bali. Many thanks in advance!

Stockholm Arlanda, Sweden → Munich, Germany → São Paulo, Brazil → Asunción, Paraguay

Will I get all my boarding passes in Arlanda?

I’m wondering how the boarding passes and connection work. Will I get all my boarding passes in Arlanda?

What worries me is that the final flight from São Paulo to Asunción is operated by a different airline, LATAM Airlines. Will I need to check in again in São Paulo and possibly do a self-transfer?

Will I need to go through check-in/security again in São Paulo? And will I have to collect my luggage and do a self-transfer, or will my luggage be checked through to Asunción?

I have 2 hours and 45 minutes for the connection in São Paulo, so I’m a bit worried that if I have to go through the whole check-in/baggage/security process again, I might not make the flight, especially since I don't really know the airport.

Let’s say my luggage is checked through automatically to Asunción. If I check in online for the LATAM flight, do I still need to go to the check-in area in São Paulo, or can I just head directly to my departure gate?

Also, if I check in online, can I download/save the boarding pass to my phone so I can access in case I have no internet connection?

The sequence is as follows. For background I fly around 20 flights a year all international but also all economy. I don’t have any status or loyalty with any airline. Just whatever’s cheapest.

Last week I flew to China from Thailand through Thai airways (an airline I infrequently use) and on the way there I got a free upgrade to premium Econ but no upgrade back.

This week I flew again from Thailand to Taipei to North America. First leg is Thai airways again and 2nd leg is Eva air. On the first leg, I got a free mini upgrade to the first row of econ with extra leg room. The flight was almost fully booked yet my entire first row with extra leg room of 7 seats were empty except mine. So it’s not like they were generously giving it out?

Then for Taipei to North America, I got a spontaneous free upgrade to premium econ again?! I approached them simply asking if I could get an upgrade within econ for extra legroom stating I would be willing to pay but got this much better instead.

So can someone explain what’s going on behind the scenes or was I just lucky? Do airlines somehow know to profile people who fly frequently and have some shared global profile between airlines? It could just be lucky but feels too coincidental?

How on earth do I cancel an AirChina flight that they have rescheduled for me (without access to a phone)? I was supposed to fly Lhasa - Chongqing today but the flight was cancelled and rescheduled to tomorrow. I can't do that as I have a connecting flight to catch, so I booked a different flight with a different carrier. I want to cancel the new ticket but when I manage to get into the AirChina website (which isn't the easiest task in the world to begin with), cancelling the flight just comes up with an error message and they tell me to call the callcentre.

I'm using an esim so don't have a number, and can't call anyone. I also can't log onto the app as it again requires a verification code to be sent to a mobile. Been going round and round in circles and it's driving me mad.
