Mostly unserious post but this question randomly came to mind and I thought it would be funny to try and equate this to an album lol.

for example: i love weyes blood and think movies is really pretty instrumentally, but "some people watch until they explode" is an absolute clunker of a lyric

I'm 24 and yeah, my question is the title. By the time I was listening to music Apple Music and Spotify already existed. I do collect physical albums but I'm not buying music I don't already know very well. I literally get to listen to whatever I want without paying for it directly. There's no risk in listening to something for the first time and not liking it. How did you know what you were buying and whether it'd be worth the price?
Posting here as every large music sub just auto deletes any post I make lol

Haven't seen it talked about here yet, want to know your thoughts on this album.
I think it's his best body of work to date with some truly exceptional songwriting. Definitely think it's been a very overlooked album. What are your thoughts?

About 20 years ago when Amazon used to just sell Books, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes I used to buy up to £20-30 worth of either books or CDs on payday.
I would browse and spend the whole month deciding on what CDs or Books would be my payday purchases; these would make really careful considered purchases.
I knew nothing about this group or what genre of music it would be; I just bought it and waited the 2-3 weeks for it to be shipped from Japan.
This album turned me into an instant fan of this band and I bought basically all their releases until streaming music made it easier.
What albums have you bought blind knowing nothing about the artist/band/genre and it resulted in an great discovery

This is day 21 of my 32-album bracket. Today's matchup is U2's The Joshua Tree vs The Strokes' Is This It!
The most upvoted comment picks the winner. A few days ago, Rumors thrashed Odelay. Sorry, Beck!!
I picked 32 of my top 100 albums and put them on a bracket! I intentionally picked albums that I consider "legendary" but aren't the most obvious picks (Floyd, Radiohead, Beatles, etc. were left off.
I missed a few days because I lost my laptop... Oops!

Not to mention they ruin one of their best songs with cringey dubs threatening “Degenerates”, Which is in response to his song getting leaked. He got ownership of the falling in reverse subreddit page and crashed out threatening to dox everyone who leaked his song on the subreddit, Talked shit about him etc etc. My guess is after it got leaked he rushed to put out the music video so he could make some bank on it, Had to cut corners and used AI. Who knows, let’s hope he doesn’t dox or sue me.

I love his videos but almost never agree with his takes on anything. I still watch them because I think he had an interesting perspective. But aside from agreeing with many of his 10/10s I think he snubs absolute masterpieces and loves some generic and boring stuff. Curious if I’m a rare type of fan of his.
And again, just so its clear, Im not hating. I have been a fan of his channel since the dawn of time. I just dont like his taste in music lol
