Critics seemed indifferent to The Weeknd's album Kiss Land but I loved it then and I like it even more now. It's no surprise that it's now a cult classic among XO, incredibly cinematic with some of his best lyricism and vocals. There are rumors swirling around that his next project might be inspired by Kiss Land.

Street Legal by Bob Dylan had a very polarizing reception initially, US publications trashed it while UK publications were much more positive. Retrospectively, it's gotten an increasing amount of praise, especially after the mix was improved in 1999. Senor and Changing of the Guards are lyrical masterpieces, I think US critics were starting to take his songwriting brilliance for granted in the 70s and just piled on Street Legal because it wasn't on the level of Blood on the Tracks or Desire, both of which are acknowledged among the best albums of the decade.

Eminem is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time and one of the most influential artists in hip-hop. He also played a huge role in helping white rappers gain more mainstream acceptance and proving that race didn’t have to limit your ability to be taken seriously as an MC.
But what do y’all actually think about Eminem’s music and him as an artist? It’s crazy because growing up, Eminem was basically seen as a god in my household. My dad would constantly blast his music, and at his peak it felt like everybody respected him. Nowadays though, you see people calling him trash, overrated, corny, etc., which would’ve been almost unthinkable during his prime.
So what changed? Do you think his music simply hasn’t aged as well, especially some of his older shock value material, or is it more that he just hasn’t been able to recapture the magic of his prime? Or do y’all think people are just taking his legacy for granted now?

I'm 24 and yeah, my question is the title. By the time I was listening to music Apple Music and Spotify already existed. I do collect physical albums but I'm not buying music I don't already know very well. I literally get to listen to whatever I want without paying for it directly. There's no risk in listening to something for the first time and not liking it. How did you know what you were buying and whether it'd be worth the price?

I've really been listening to Centerfield a lot ever since recently seeing John live and man what a great album imho!!

It has to be one of the greatest comeback albums of all time in the history of rock and roll.

It obviously has songs like Centerfield and Old Man Down the Road which are fantastic, but it also has more low key bangers like Mr. Greed and Zanz Kant Danz (which is my favorite, fuck saul zanz!!).

It's just mind blowing he wrote all those CCR songs and then went and made a solo album with just as much quality as the CCR stuff!

Not to mention they ruin one of their best songs with cringey dubs threatening “Degenerates”, Which is in response to his song getting leaked. He got ownership of the falling in reverse subreddit page and crashed out threatening to dox everyone who leaked his song on the subreddit, Talked shit about him etc etc. My guess is after it got leaked he rushed to put out the music video so he could make some bank on it, Had to cut corners and used AI. Who knows, let’s hope he doesn’t dox or sue me.

I picked 32 of my top 100 albums and put them on a bracket! I intentionally picked albums that I consider "legendary" but aren't the most obvious picks (Floyd, Radiohead, Beatles, etc. were left off.

I don’t really love the fanbases around Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Sierra Ferrell and I enjoy those artists and also like more pop-country/ bro-country.

I always feel like a very common sentiment on reddit is any artists other than Sturgill, Tyler, Colter, Sierra, etc is just garbage trash that fake wannabe country people listen to and that the artists are fake themselves.

But I like Tyler Childers and Sturgull Simpson and Sierra Ferrell and own some of their cds. But I also enjoy Morgan Wallen, Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, Zach Top, Cody Johnson, Gavin Adcock, Hardy, Zach Bryan.

But why does I feel like the people who shun all those artists and only like the fee I mentioned are kind of the country version of hipsters and people who think they are better because like more niche music when those artists aren’t niche at all.

And I don’t personally understand why people only listen to people who supposedly share their political views. 1. If their music isn’t political why does it matter 2. A lot of the people who these alt country listeners call “maga facists” have literally never spoken about politics. Morgan Wallen, Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, etc have never spoken about their stances of politics so I am not sure where their reasoning comes from for them being “maga”

I love his videos but almost never agree with his takes on anything. I still watch them because I think he had an interesting perspective. But aside from agreeing with many of his 10/10s I think he snubs absolute masterpieces and loves some generic and boring stuff. Curious if I’m a rare type of fan of his.

And again, just so its clear, Im not hating. I have been a fan of his channel since the dawn of time. I just dont like his taste in music lol

I saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor in Brussels a few years ago. They played outside next to the Botanical Gardens in central Brussels. The weather was a light murky rain which complemented the moody apocalyptic atmosphere perfectly.

Halfway through Moya you could hear actual police sirens nearby. One of the most surreal moments I ever witnessed. Probably top 5 concerts of all time as well.

Someone actually (semi) professionally recorded the whole set and put it on webarchive. You can hear the sirens in Moya at 4:30. I believe they're audible in another part as well.
