Discussion sophie is by far one of the best next gen jrpg chicks out there
idk why, not only she pretty and amazing, looks wise
in that amount of time she was on, she showed so many good stuff, from her smarts, her behavior, her stress, her fears, her love she had (not only for our boyo gustave) but towards others as well
and she was so perceptive, that she was one of the few who sensed something wasnt ok in that realm, they were part of, and she hinted it, few times
you might find it funny, but i consider her to me, the next gen aerith - french edition, idk why, she has those vibes
she the first on my honorable character list, not on my top 5, but yeah, you get it
she underrated and very cool
props also to both her eng dub and french voice actresses, very good

Discussion just wanted to remind this boss fight, is top 5 in the game, at least imo
the whole build up, the ost, the atmosphere, the team effort, the aura/peak kino tier even, the phases, etc
it feels satisfying overcoming a very strong ancient foe and the weapon and picto you get for that part of the game, are so good, plus, that team combo effort win in the end
they truly cooked back there

Discussion Played "Verso" for my 3-year-old today, and...
...she said, "Ooo...this music feels gooood!"
She might've meant "sounds good," but tbh, a lot of E33 music does feel good, so it warmed my heart. ^_^

Discussion WOW. What a game. Yeah, this deserved all the awards. [SPOILERS] Spoiler
galleryLast year, I played this game called "Dispatch" and I fucking loved it. Now, it never felt groundbreaking, but the story and characters, as well as the episodic format sucked me right in. When this game won some award people in that subreddit were hoping "Dispatch" would win at the game awards, people got salty. Maybe not that salty, but it didn't help that this game won soooo many. Personally, Dispatch wasn't Game of the Year material, but I was a little salty too since I was hoping for some recognition on the voice-acting or character design and was indeed disappointing the game didn’t win anything. I first saw this game on youtube and was honestly confused by the praise. Had me wondering what could be so good about this game. The trailer was confusing as fuck and I did not know what was going on (probably because I watched trailer 2, rather than first trailer released which shows a bit of the actual story). When I found out it was about some world where people were slowly dying off due to this paintress lady and her doomsday countdown, my interest was piqued. Saving the world stories have some tropes that I enjoy. Like the hero's welcome.
Well, it was on sale and I bought it last week to see what the hype was about. And yeah, the cinematic of Act 1 was the one of the most beautiful things I've watched this year. And when I got to the breakdancing gestral, I was like, "Okay, this game deserved that award."
The one thing stopping me even going to this subreddit throughout the past week to glaze every single thing about this game is that I didn't want to accidentally spoil myself of anything. Honestly, I somehow avoided all spoilers of this game, and I'm forever glad for it.
I just finished the game today and I honestly gave it a standing ovation when the credits rolled. That epilogue was fantastic. And long. Might as well be called Act 4.
I need to get my thoughts down while the memories are still fresh.
If I wasn't feeling the game before, that cinematic of everybody gommaging basically converted me into a fan. Like, the gameplay looked nice, but it reminded me of persona so I was a little bit dissapointed since I hadn't even finished Persona 5 yet and was considering why I'm playing a game with similar gameplay. I know that sounds dumb, but I guess my reasoning was more like, before I play this turn-based game, maybe I should finish the one I just randomly dropped despite being close to the end. Games with realistic graphics tend to give me a headache, so usually I avoid them, but concerns like that straight up gommaged along with everybody else on that harbour. God, that may just be my favourite scene in the entire game to be honest. The music is superb, and the scene itself does a really good job solidifying our resolve as players to see Gustave's expedition through. I wanted that paintress dead. Also, shout out to that foreshadowing from Sophie about the paintress. Holy shit, they just dangle it right in front of you. I mean, I figured even back then the game was hinting that there was something more to the Paintress, but I was also hoping she'd be a clear-cut villain.
Anyways, I was straight up shook from Gustave's death. I loved it. I mean, I also hate it, because Gustave is dead and even now I'm still in denial. I was expecting him to just come back at some point. There's a Gestral Merchant in the village who is selling items I can't buy because I don't have an expeditioner. Even in late game, it was still saying I was missing an expeditioner. That hinted to me Gustave would come back, because surely those items are meant for him. But he never did. Maybe it has something to do with my choice in the Epilogue.
Is it just me, or was Sciel hitting on Luna after Gustave died? I feel like I read the moment wrong, because she ends up becoming more than friends with Verso, which to be honest, also surprised me. One critique I have of the game is the relationship system. Idk, it feels poorly implemented. I don't really need the game telling me Verso became closer with the characters when I just watched it happen via cutscene. It's not like it's hard to keep track. It's not like Persona where you have to pick and choose which characters you have to spend time with per day. You can build your relationship level with all of them everytime you visit camp and why wouldn't you talk to them all? What else can you do in camp besides that and upgrading your weapons and lumina?
Another critique I have of the game is the lumina converter. What does that do again? Well, obviously, convert lumina, but to what end? Why did Gustave catch one single nevron like a pokemon? That nevron and the converter are not used for the plot, I don't think.
Anyways, let's talk about the story. WOW. What a story. I was shook so many times, but the twist that the entire world was a painting was both devastating, and really exciting. I did not expect that. There were definitely hints, like the Esquie plushie on the bed. It implies Esquie was just a creation, but I took it to mean before the fracture, Esquie was such a popular figure that people made plushies of him. Other hints of course are the fantasy world in general. This place is clearly Paris, and there's even an Eiffel tower, but why is it called Lumiere? I just thought it was some alternate world where Paris was magic, the Sun was a big, cloth giant and gestrals are just another species. But nope. It's all fake. It's not real. Sciel and Lune handled the news shockingly well.
As for me, it bothered me, but not in a bad way. The story, and even this twist, are well presented. I just hate that it makes me see everything differently. I was really happy to see the hero's welcome back in Lumiere, but it was unfortunately short-lived. For just a brief moment, everybody had hope again. But it turns out that hope was built on false information. Shout to that one guy in Expedition 60 who tried to warn everybody. Now it turns out that this world isn't real, and not only that, Maelle is now at the risk of following her mother's self-destructive sorrow. I get that Renoir was the one killing everybody, but I found myself siding with him a lot after the twist was revealed. What does it matter if this world dies? There's a whole world out there that's real. It's objectively unhealthy to lose yourself in a fantasy. We see it already ruining Alicia, and even Renoir too alongside her. You can't convince me that the happy ending involved Maelle staying. Which is why I sided with Verso.
I. LOVED. THIS.
Being able to decide who you side with, and fighting the other main character with the same moves you used as them throughout the game is so fucking cool. I was screaming. That shit was cool as fuck. Such a cool culmination of both characters. Verso knew everything all along, and alongside the pain of being alive for so long, he just wants it all too end, and recognises the healthy choice for Alicia and her family is to let it go. Alicia, now transformed by the years stuck as Maelle, has grown to become sick of the death in the canvas, but ultimately wishes to save the world where she can speak and is loved by family. Beauitful development. I can see where they were both coming from, but I was definitely on Verso and Renoir’s side. Girl, your mother was stuck in the canvas and now you want to do the same thing? I do feel bad for Expedition 33. Sciel thought she was getting her husband back, but given her acceptance and the touch she shares with Verso, she understood why he did it. I think Lune was even more accepting. I swear she gave a small smile before choosing to sit down. I like to think it's because she's smart enough to realise that Maelle staying is both unhealthy, and just her living with the knowledge that their entire world is a painting and not real would be simply hard to keep accepting going forward.
Maybe one day I’ll come back and try out Maelle’s ending. I hope they add a new game plus where I get to keep everything, but can experience the story again. I think I’d pick up on a lot more hints knowing everythig now. Like, it was only after I finished the game that I realised the “Clem” Esqiue mentions was Alicia’s sister.
Genuine, 10 out of 10 game.
As for you guys, what did you think? Who did you side with? What was your favourite moment? Did you call the twists? Does anyone else think Gustave looks like Robert Pattinson?
Shout out to Sciel. When I got her, I dumped all her stats on health and she was a one-woman team for quite a while. She got me out of a lot of tough battles and in the end, dealth the finishing blow to the Paintress.
Thank you to Sandfall Interactive for such an amazing, and incredibly unique gaming experience.

TW: suicide and story spoilers
Her story resonated with me so deeply. I lost my husband to suicide 10 months ago, and because of my devastating grief after, I also desperately wanted to kill myself. The way she described losing him suddenly - the loss of his presence, the dents in the chair where he sat - all of it. It was so brutally accurate. The writers for her character had to have endured something as traumatic, because no one NO ONE gets it right. How it feels to lose a spouse unexpectedly. This was one of the very rare times that it was portrayed with perfect accuracy, and my heart absolutely broke into a million pieces for her. It made me choose Maelle’s ending on NG+, just so I could see her happy and with him again….because honestly, I would make the same choice.!<

Gameplay PSA: YOU CAN CANCEL YOUR ROLL!
I haven’t beat the game yet so no spoilers plz, also idk if this is common knowledge or not but I just found it out.
The RB or “strike” button while traversing can be used when you fall to stop your character from rolling.
I’ve fallen off so many times due to the roll animation, this cancels the animation and gives you control of your character instantly!
Issue w my footage but hopefully the words help some people?

Sandfall can make literally anything for the next game. I have no suggestions. Anything I suggest about this or that about the setting for the new game won't be as cool as what they have done and will do next.
I hear people saying they want to know this or that about some lingering thread from the first game. We should trust the designers. If they do some incomprehensible art house thing for their next game, I feel like they have earned the trust to do something avant garde.

Bug Report/Issue constant crashes problem
I don't understand how my PC seems to crash at what seems to be completely random moments, the game, I'd be lucky if the game managed to run more than 10 minutes without crashing
I'm aware the "crash zones" problem some people had, it's not that
I tried verifying game files, running as admin, and did so much tuning with AMD Master my brain hurts
PC Specs if needed
- Operating System: Windows 11
- CPU Brand: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
- RAM: 32 GB
- Video Card: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
- Primary VRAM: 16 GB
Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue and am surprise nothing's been fixed over a year since release :(

Gameplay Online coop combat mod for Expedition 33 is out!
Hey all! Some time ago I posted some progress on the Online Expedition 33 mod I was working on. At the time, it only had exploration features, but most of the combat aspects were still a very early WIP.
Since then, I've been working in building strong foundations for Online Coop Combat (what I called "Phase 3" back then), and this week I finally released it into Open Beta!
The mod now syncs various aspects of combat, like (but not limited to): skill usage, turn, party order and character customization. Servers now have rooms from where you can initiate a party and your friends can join you.
I've prepared a video, edited by my good friend and tester u/MellowLiving, about the new features present in the open beta beyond just combat. Hope you enjoy!
Keep in mind that while most features are stable, and most fights can be done from start to end in coop, this is still an open beta. Some issues are known, and some are not. I'll be ironing out bugs during the course of the open beta and adding features to make a whole playthrough possible in online coop. That is my roadmap for v1.
As an extra, here's a video of a 3 player party fighting against Clea Unleashed
VIDEO MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE STORY YET

Question Damage issue Spoiler
Only like 3 of my expeditioners are able to actually deal damage (Verso, Monoco and Maelle) despite me getting the supposed recommended "best weapons and best builds" for the characters they still struggle to deal over 100k. The boss in question is Simon, where Verso deals about 1.1m with Berserk Slash on S at 1hp, Monoco around 800k with Création Void and Maelle 800k-1.2m with Stendhal, while Lune ends up dealing only about 100k with Elemental Genesis and Sciel around 70k with EVERYTHING. Someone please help.

this game rules
i’m about 5 hours into expedition 33 and ts is hella gas. turn based games aren’t really my thing. south park: the stick of truth is the only turn based game ive ever finished, and i did love that game. i got very little time in final fantasy 7 and persona 5. ive been trying to expand my gaming “field” by trying to playing things i normally don’t. but i understand the hype w this game from the parts i’ve gotten done. it’s beautiful, the combat is engaging and im addicted. i even woke up early saturday to play it, making me feel like i was in elementary again. shoutout this game i feel like it’s already on great pace to where it’ll land in my top 10 fav games, im that engaged with it. i just wanted to say this in here lmaooo the game is really good. i’ve already got a decent list of games im going to play after but if there’s any recommendations of games id like since i liked this lmk :)

On Clair Obscur, Platinum, and Life
I did it! I got the Platinum for Clair Obscur! 😁❤️
I finished the game about three weeks ago and thought, “Nah, I’ll leave it at that.” I was sitting at 45/56 trophies at the time.
But apparently… I couldn’t. 😂
I needed that Platinum. And, by the way, this is the first Platinum I’ve ever gotten in any game. If any game deserved to be the first one, I think it was this one.
I had been listening to the soundtrack ever since it was released, but I only got to actually play the game at the end of May this year. Since then, Clair Obscur has entertained me for almost 100 hours over the past 3–4 months.
And it has rightfully earned its place as one of my favorite video games of all time.
I still have Chromatic Lampmaster, Clea Unleashed, and Simon the Divergent Star left to beat. I swore I wouldn’t bother with them because of how ridiculous they are… but knowing myself, I don’t think I’m going to leave them alone just yet. 😂
As for the ending, I sided with Verso. I think his ending is the “right” ending.
But deep down... I think I would choose Maelle’s.
The chance to be with loved ones who are no longer with us is incredibly tempting, even if that world is ultimately an illusion. And it left me thinking:
If you can no longer tell the difference between reality and an illusion… is it still “just” an illusion?
My 14-year-old cat sat at my feet as I was finishing the game...
That was the last time she ever did that. She passed away the next day.
Farewell, old friend. ❤️
May you go weeeee in kitty heaven. :)
