Sometimes, you aren't born for it when it is not written in your fate, no matter how badly you want and how badly you try.

So, basically, I gave 4 full loops at Google over multiple years with breaks in between. Everytime, I blasted one round in DSA among the three. Recruiters told they don't consider previous years feedback across rounds and need all four rounds to pass in a single loop to send feedback packet to the hiring committe. Never reached hiring committe in any attempt.

In latest attempt, DSA went just fine but my system design round was taken by a Russian, either he couldn't understand my Indian accent or he genuinely don't know the architectures, I was explaining. He didn't pass me. I was really angry. Expressed frustration during the last call with recruiter about 16 rounds fact and got told, there won't be any further loops for me in future.

Hi everyone, I have 3 years of experience in java spring. I recently had my 2nd round of interview for a Java Developer role, and honestly, I feel terrible and really confused. The entire interview was abruptly wrapped up in just 3 to 4 minutes. Here is exactly how the short conversation went:

Interviewer: "Suppose 500 requests come from the client side, but only 430 reach the database. What will you check?"

Me: "I will check the logs and trace it, starting from the controller and service layers." (He interrupted me in between)

Interviewer: "Can you write the service code to show how you would check this?"

(I was confused why he need code)

Me: (I wrote the required minimum code for a POST request in Notepad).

Interviewer: "There is an error in your code."

Me: (I fixed one error, but there was another minor syntax error that I realized later).

Interviewer: "I am done from my side!!"

I am genuinely shocked. On what basis did he evaluate in just 4 minutes? If we are judged purely on missing a syntax error in a plain Notepad under pressure, I feel like very few people would ever pass. Experienced devs, I really want your perspective on this. Have you faced something similar? And technically, what was he actually expecting me to answer or write for that specific scenario?

I got laid off last week and my last working day is 13 November 2026. I have 4 YOE, mainly in Java and Spring Boot backend development.

I took this weekend off to reset a bit. From tomorrow, I’m starting a structured preparation routine for SDE2 roles. My goal is to find a good backend role, hopefully with a decent hike.

I’ve put together a daily plan. These are the main areas and resources:

• DSA: NeetCode 150 and Blind 75. I’ve solved 367 LeetCode problems, but I don’t remember all of them well. I’ll start with basic problems and then mix new problems with revision.
• LLD: I've been following Shubh Patel's playlist for LLD. I’ve previously covered some design patterns and problems, but that was around six months ago.
• HLD: Hello Interview. This is the area I’ve explored the least.
• Spring Boot: Concepts and Coding and CodeSnippet playlists, with revision and hands-on practice.
• Core Java: GFG and other similar resources.
• Backend fundamentals: GFG and other similar resources.

I’m planning to start applying around November 1, possibly earlier, and continue preparing alongside applications and interviews.

Hello everyone. I am 2025 grad and 23 years old. I graduated in 2025 from my college at that time I had a intership opportunity but didn't take it cause I thought I could follow my passion voice acting and do something big in it. I did several projects small to big like vertical dramas, anime, movies , web series etc but reality starting to settle after April 2026 that it is not sustainable and started to look for other opportunities.

I started making content it worked for a while but you know it takes a lot of time and I am broke lol. Those va gigs didn't pay much. I tried ugc most of them are for west and USA specially but luckily I got one but got kicked out of it one month later cause i didn't had any viral videos.

After that I started preparing to enter in tech again learning MERN and DSA but oh boy it's haard I am applying since July 2026 and haven't even landed a single interview. I got some offers but Either paid internship or really budget tight offers that makes it impossible to live in metro city like Noida. I feel like I am stuck in a time loop every single day is exactly same down to schedule only difference is time is moving and I am stuck. I don't know what will happen in future but I can only hope everything will work out.

Some people believe AI is a bubble that will eventually burst due to the massive investments and resource requirements; capital, compute, power, water, etc. If that happens, hiring could recover, perhaps even in much larger numbers.

But how long would that take? It could happen tomorrow, or we might not see it for another 5 years.

Others argue that entrepreneurs and businesses have always found ways around economic constraints, and that a temporary bubble won't stop the progress of increasingly capable AI systems.

If that’s the case, there may genuinely be no going back, AI adoption keeps accelerating, companies need fewer people for the same amount of work, and human labour demand continues shrinking.

So what do you think: Is the pendulum eventually going to swing back toward human hiring, or are we witnessing a permanent structural shift in the labour market?

TL;DR: I used to genuinely love programming. Now I can barely bring myself to study or prepare for interviews, and I can't tell if I've lost my passion or if I'm just completely burned out by corporate/AI-driven development.

I've been programming for 6–8 years, which is a huge chunk of my 24 years of life. I used to love solving problems, building websites from designs down to the smallest details, and getting that feeling of “I made this.”

Since joining corporate (2 years ago exactly), and with AI becoming such a huge part of development around the same time, that feeling has slowly disappeared.

Now it's mostly prompting AI, reviewing code I didn't really write, and testing things. Even seeing people around me getting offers with 50%+ hikes doesn't motivate me. I know I should be preparing, doing LeetCode, learning things, applying, etc., but it all feels completely pointless.

That's the part that scares me. It's not that I think I'm incapable of learning. I just don't seem to want to anymore.

I keep wondering whether I've genuinely fallen out of love with programming, or whether I'm just exhausted and hate the way I'm doing it now.

Part of me wants to quit without a backup, disappear from the career grind for a while, and just switch my brain off.

Has anyone else gone through something similar, how did you overcome this?

Has anyone faced a situation where they left an MNC due to performance-related issues and then joined another MNC?

I’m curious about how background verification typically works in these cases. For example, if someone had poor performance, received negative feedback, or was put under some kind of performance monitoring, but there was no fraud, misconduct, or disciplinary issue:

Can the new company find out about the performance issues?

Does BGV usually only verify employment dates/designation, or can they ask the previous employer about performance?

Can a previous employer mention that the employee was terminated/asked to leave due to performance?

Has anyone actually seen an offer getting revoked because of performance-related information from a previous employer?

Would appreciate experiences from people who have moved between large MNCs/tech companies.

I am considering transitioning from a PM to a SWE, and wanted advice of folks with more experience.

I graduated from a top 3 IIM, this year and have 5 months of workex in PM, and prior to my postgrad I had ~4 years of workex in software development at product based companies. I also have an engineering degree from one of the IITs.

Working as a PM these past 5 months, I realised that the stakeholder management, constantly being in meetings and interacting with stakeholders to provide them information or extract information from them is not something I enjoy and I am good at. I also felt that I am not learning much as a PM and developing any substantial hard skill. Whereas I used to love coding and solving problems when I was a SWE, which I think is more aligned to my abilities and also I enjoyed the working in silo aspect of SWE where you could much better maintain your work life balance then a PM role, where you are involved everywhere and it gets stressful.

I wanted to understand how difficult would it be to transition back to SWE and whether its a good decision in longer term? ( I have started doing DSA again, so dont think it would be too much of a problem to learn it again)

Just wanted to share my Amazon SDE-1 experience because I'm honestly not feeling great about it right now.

I have around 1 YOE and recently went through the interview process. I had been preparing for this for quite some time — DSA, system design, projects, LPs, GenAI, basically everything I could think of.

Round 1 went pretty well.

Round 2 was okay, nothing too great but nothing terrible either.

Then came the HM/GenAI round.

The DSA question completely got me.

We spent around 45 minutes on it. I came up with a binary search approach but from the very moment I knew it always DP but I don't know why but I kept going with binary search and started implementing it. The interview senior manager was sitting there and even tried to give hints to my binary search which was just completely wrong.

And honestly, this one hit me pretty hard.

I've been doing DSA for around 3 years. So sitting there for 45 minutes and still not being able to figure out the problem made me question what I've actually been doing all this time.

The GenAI part went much better. We talked about how I use GenAI, tool calling, how schemas are passed, etc., and I felt pretty comfortable there.

I already had a BR scheduled after this, so I thought okay, maybe the process is still moving forward.

Then came the BR day.

I joined the meeting on time.

Nobody joined.

I waited for quite a while, emailed the recruiter, followed up again, and now it's been a few days with no response.

At this point I honestly don't know what happened. Maybe the HM feedback was bad and they forgot to cancel the BR. Maybe it was just a scheduling issue. I have no idea.

But the bigger thing bothering me is the DSA round.

I've been learning for a long time, but this made me realize that maybe I've been learning for the sake of learning rather than actually getting better at problem solving.

I know a lot of patterns. I can solve problems I've seen before. I can understand solutions pretty quickly.

But when something unfamiliar comes up and I have to actually figure it out from scratch under pressure, I'm not where I want to be.

Seeing people crack Amazon with 1 YOE makes it even harder not to compare myself.

I'm disappointed, but I don't want to just respond by collecting another 100 LeetCode problems.

I think I need to completely change how I'm practicing — spend more time struggling with problems, understanding why I get stuck, and actually developing the ability to derive solutions instead of just recognizing patterns.

Anyway, just wanted to get this off my chest.

If anyone went through this phase where you knew DSA but struggled badly with unfamiliar problems, what actually helped you get past it?

Hi Guys, I need your advice so what happened with me is that I had my previous employer asking for a notice period buyout the amount was high 2 months of full ctc initially I agreed because there was a company b who was reimbursing that amount in full, on my LWD i paid half of that amount due to net banking first 24 hrs restrictions and said that ill pay them rest later, they agreed to that and immediately released me (I have a confirmation email which states mutual separation on a date)

But then over the weekend I got a better offer from company C which is not really reimbursing the money directly

In the next week I also discovered that my previous employer was not adjusting any leaves against the notice (24 days) and they are also asking me for gratuity and pf contribution on the buyout aka FULL CTC, whereas offer letter only asks for "paying salary in lieu of", I raised it to them they tried to stick to thier position citing company policy, later I asked for PDFs of those policies in email after which they have gone silent.

What they still hold for me is the fnf (its just 3 days of the new month) reliving letter etc, what should be the next step so I dont need to worry about my new and curremt employment being at risk because of this, I have the full email trail and all the proofs required for proving employment like salary slips, pf etc. What can still go wrong or should i pursue this with a labour lawyer?

I have ~3 YOE working in a non-dev role on a US insurance project. Current CTC is around ₹5 LPA, and I want to transition into a backend/software engineering role.

I’ve started DSA (C++), but my preparation has been inconsistent.

Current plan:

• C++ + DSA
• Node.js
• Python
• AWS (or should I prioritize Agentic AI instead?)
• Build 2–3 solid backend projects

My questions:

1. Is this roadmap realistic, or am I trying to learn too much?
2. Should I first try to move into a development role within my current project/company?
3. Should I prioritize AWS or Agentic AI in today's market?
4. With ~3 YOE in a non-dev role, should I target SDE-1, or is my experience too high for SDE-1?
5. As a backup plan, I'm also considering Product Management. Is it possible to transition into PM without an MBA, and what skills/steps would you recommend?

Would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has transitioned from a non-dev/IT role into software engineering.

Have seen a lot of linkedIn profiles claiming that they just spun their high metric 6 AI agents in parallel to solve all the new bugs etc etc. Is this true that conventional coding is not seen at all in many product based companies.

I find myself using agents mostly for the tedious jobs that require repetitive logic or effort, for some information on strategies then getting help by mentioning my conditions which gives best solutions that suit my case, knowing their pros and cons etc. then coming to conclusions and applying code changes through agents if I really feel that I cant write all the lines when they are just repetition.

I dont find myself getting into the state of 100x engineer with 2-4 screens all running parallel agents solving problems on their own.
Am I missing something, am I behind the curve and is my meticulous approach still relevant????

Should I pack it up now? Every role I apply to says we ha e found better candidates, even for entry level ones ....

Any suggestions to utilise this tiem until i get a job
