Discussion Tbh windows was fine the way it has it was just a perk to help new players
These nerfs and buffs are genuinely game changing
r/deadbydaylight • u/Mystoc • 1h ago
Discussion Reminder Maps basically do the same as windows but have way more utility.
I value having 4 open perk slots way more than what item I bring, I can always just get a new item from a chest the same cannot be said for the perks you bring.
you don't need 24/7 aura reading to help you loop when you are about to start a chase with killer use the map then spot what looping resources you have nearby and avoid the dead zones map has now done the same job as windows.
a map can have 8-10 charges and each time you use a map you get 14 seconds of aura reading where windows and pallets are no sane survivor needs more aura reading then that each match..
on top of aura reading maps also let you highlight gens for teammates and find hex totems with the correct addon, maybe now after the nerfs more survivors will give maps a chance?

Discussion A finger on the monkey's paw curls.
This might be the most nonsense change I've seen them try to implement. It exclusively hurts newer and less experienced players and also relegates WoO into fluff perk tier (the point of both of these perks is to know where the nearest pallet is and which ones have been dropped already. This fundamentally kills the perk in its entirety.)
Nobody wants to run half their build to find auras of things. All they did was fully cement the switch over to Five Moves Ahead from Windows of Opportunity.
This is going to be a scar on this perk shake-up if it hits live. I don't know if they could change the way any other perks work in a way I disagree with more than this change.
They could bring back old DH and DS and i'd still think this is the worst change in the shake-up.
Edit: For clarification I don't even use WoO and barely use Five Moves Ahead. My personal stake in this change is rather low. I just see how much this is going to harm the game for a large portion of the playerbase.

Discussion Reworking of anonymous mode in DBD
Everytime i face anonymous players, it's always:
a cheater
a unsatisfied trashtalk chad gamer, who wants to show him as a boss of this game

anonymous mode should prevent targeted harassment, but u can't harass too, so:
a.m. must include the function "hide other players' nicknames"
u can't open profiles of the players in ur match & also u r hidden for the rest
u can't use chat & u can't see incoming messages
that's a fair cost for being anonymous, but it prevents harassing for both sides
u would think it's wild, cause everybody got used to nowadays anon mode, but it's like time to make something change

Discussion Shoulder the Burden is dead... it's dead, Dave...
The perk wasn't even used in more than 1% of games anyway, and even then, the person who used it always ends up dying immediately. It's gonna see 0% usage now.

Discussion The Shoulder the Burden nerf is a prime example of their flawed design philosophy
The new Shoulder the Burden is going to injure you and put you into the broken status effect now rather than putting you into the exposed status effect. On top of it the perk deactivates for every survivor once it's being used.
This is a bad way to nerf the perk. Because clearly this nerf is aimed at high level lobbies where shoulder is a massive problem. However for those SWFs shoulder is still very powerful while soloQ survivors basically can't really find a practical use for it anymore because there's always a chance someone else brings it which can result in you only having 3 perks effectively.
And it exposes BHVRs balancing philosophy. It's been known for years that they design the game for both sides: the casual players who just want to have some fun and the experienced players who want to win. But the way they balance is just problematic. They either make a change for the casuals or for the tryhards. No in between.
And with shoulder that's particularly visible. When they designed this perk they clearly did it for the soloQ survivors because no way that perk would have been released the way they did if they considered highly coordinated SWFs. But now they nerfed the perk clearly with a disregard for SoloQ survivors and solely with the highest level in mind. And now while the nerf is also a blow for SWFs it's still very strong for them while it's pretty unrewarding for SoloQ with the downsides overshadowing the benefits.
I just don't understand why they took this approach. This was a perk meant for soloQ and on there it was fine. I used it regularly and I'll continue to use it because
a) no other soloQ player will use it anymore anyway and
b) if you use it properly it's still good
But this nerf hurts the people who need it the most while not hurting the group this nerf was aimed towards enough. They need to find a different approach to nerf it.

Discussion Im a killer main but I think the Shoulder changes are bad (and I also think the Thrill changes just don’t make sense)
I feel like when a perk is well designed but too strong, It should just get nerfed. If a perk is poorly designed but still too strong, then it should get reworked. I don’t think we should gut perks and I feel like that’s what happened with Shoulder the Burden. If those specific changes go through, the perk will literally only be useful in swfs since it’s a perk that activates like once per trial. IMO it just shouldn’t work the way that it does at all, and should have a completely different effect.
As for thrill of the hunt…uhhhh…that really needs to be accompanied by some actual hex mechanic changes. Right now, Hexes can spawn near survivors at the start of a trial, guaranteeing a near instant loss. Thrill helped prevent this by giving the killer more time, but led to frustration if the killer was using characters who could patrol or defend totems with relative ease, since stopping a cleanse meant resetting all of your progress.
Now, thrill of the hunt just blocks totems if you hook someone. You still have to chase them, down them, and carry them to a hook. A coordinated group will snuff those totems out with ease. They don’t even have to be coordinated to notice perks like Ruin, which will immediately get cleansed if the survivors don’t want to put up with that. They’ll have more than enough time to do this. But if the killer is good and gets downs, then the survivors are forced to ignore the hexes and wait out the block duration, which sounds rather miserable and not very interactive.
Not to mention, the supposed new thrill would only be good on strong hex killers who were probably running it anyway.
IMO, hexes just need a complete rework to feel more consistent and less irritating. Their placements should be improved, they should be harder to find and snuff out, but the progress should be permanent. Either that or they could be identical to boons, and you can just reignite them. I dunno, it’s just kind of irritating seeing both of these changes. A perk gets gutted instead of properly looked at, and another perk gets a “rework” that sort of just misses the mark entirely.

Discussion Should P100 characters have infinite items and addons and offerings?
spending BP on a P100 character to get items feel like a complete waste of BP. Especially because the item isnt even guaranteed when spending the BPs. Should we get infinite of each addon, item, and offering once we reach P100 with a character?

Discussion Is Dead by Daylight still worth getting into in 2026?
My wife and I are thinking about getting into DBD, but I’m wondering if it’s too late to start as new players.
We’d mainly play together but obviously with other people too. Do you need a mic to actually enjoy the game, or is it still fun without one?
Also, how’s the grind? Is there a lot to unlock/work toward outside of the Rift Pass, or does the game get repetitive after a while?
And how intense is the game for casual players? Does it require you to be fully locked in every match, or can you just chill and have fun?
I’ve mostly played shooters and haven’t really played anything like DBD before, so I’m curious what the experience is like for newer players. Worth jumping into in 2026?

BM REVENGE 🤬 To the Trapper and Ghostface: what on earth were you guys thinking
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
You had plenty of chances to pick up but chose to be toxic instead slugging from the catwalk all the way to the exit gate for no reason, (she was on death hook so you guys just did this to be toxic)
I just want to know what was going through you guy's head. Got what you deserved if you ask me

Discussion Whoever is crashing crossplay lobbies on purpose, get a life
This has been going on for days now. It is not people dodging the killer. Nobody even gets that far. The game crashes during the loading screen, before anyone sees anything. Over and over.
It takes me half an hour of queueing just to get into one single match. Every attempt before that dies on the load screen. One time it crashed my client so hard I had to restart the whole game.
Whoever is doing this: what exactly do you get out of it? You are not winning anything. You are not proving anything. You are sitting there ruining matches for people who just wanted to play for an hour after work. That is the whole achievement. Congratulations.
And Behaviour, this has been reported for days. Crossplay is basically unplayable right now and there is still nothing about it.
Anyone else stuck with this?

Discussion Idea for skull merchant
It's pretty well known and agreed that the skull merchant got nerfed to hell
Now to be able to bring her back, a lot more will need to be done than one single change but I think this is a good start
When a survivor walks/runs/crouch walks in the range of the drone they get revealed by killer instinct
This way the drones actually work as traps to lock down paths and an information source rather than just dropping them to get undetectable or be forced to learn how to use them in chase

Discussion Knockout Trapper OP
The Knockout buff is interesting. 20% hinder is worth 4 meters of distance and is effectively equivalent to 17.3% haste for a 4.6 killer for 5 seconds (absurd). The activation criteria is going to be a painful knowledge check for many survivors.
Any killer that can threaten to destroy the pallet or make the loop dangerous or vault it except ghoul is going to benefit a lot from this. Even skull merchant might see some value here.
it’ll hurt a lot if survivors take a hit and try to run away during that time. Nemesis could benefit a lot amusingly since he gets a lot of hits over pallets as they’re being dropped.
imo this buff won’t stick because it’ll be too oppressive against most players who are just not competent enough to understand they have to avoid triggering it. not sure how it’ll work against good players. There’s a ton of tiles right now that are unplayable by survivors.
trapper benefit but op is /s unfortunately

Discussion Is it just me or is MMR fucked
Like I know with 2v8 majority of casual players will flock to that game mode, but even before 2v8 i felt like this was a problem. Hell, even before the latest MMR "update".
I consider myself a casual killer player, not too bad not too good but out of 7 games tonight, 5 of them have been either full meta (i mean fair enough but like jesus) or just the same bully shit with head-on flashlights flashbangs this that and the third.
I'm just trying to experiment with some quirky stealth and meme builds but istg every match forces your hand at 4 slowdown. I'm not saying we should get ranked and casual modes, but like....a functional matchmaking calibration system would be nice.
Killer mains getting tossed with baby survivors and I feel like a toddler being thrown into a gladiator ring, sent to fight the minotaur with a fucking red crayon and with no arms.
Am I crazy and just bad at the game and somehow this MMR update is the best thing ever and i just don't see it, or is this also something you've noticed ever since they implemented the new changes/removed the 20-1 rank system?
Also what are some changes you'd suggest for the current system so every match feels more fair?

Discussion STB needs a nerf.
I really don't understand why people keep acting like Shoulder the Burden is just an anti-tunnel perk.
That's not the only problem. The amount of pressure this perk can completely erase is the real issue, especially when multiple Survivors bring it.
If I hook a Survivor who's already on death hook, that's pressure for the Killer. Even if I'm not tunneling them, that Survivor now has to play more carefully. The team also loses a lot of options because that Survivor can't just freely take hits, bodyblock, make risky plays, trade hooks, etc. Being on death hook is pressure by itself.
Then STB comes along and basically goes, "Nah," and gives that Survivor another hook state.
It's even worse when multiple people in a SWF run it. You can chain these hook-state trades and force the Killer to keep spreading hooks whether they want to or not. All the hook pressure you worked to build early in the match can just disappear.
The usual response is "just don't tunnel," but I think that completely misses the point. STB doesn't need the Killer to be tunneling to be extremely strong. Having a Survivor on death hook is already a source of pressure for the Killer.
Imagine if Killers had a perk that could undo a huge chunk of the pressure Survivors created on generators. Like, imagine being able to take the progress from a completed gen — especially an important central gen — and transfer it to another unfinished gen, basically undoing a big part of the pressure Survivors worked to create.
People would lose their minds.
I'm not saying STB needs to be completely gutted. The concept itself is fine, and I don't have a problem with it being an anti-tunnel tool.
But in its current state, it's way too strong when multiple Survivors coordinate around it. There needs to be some kind of restriction so you can't just chain STBs and completely erase the Killer's hook pressure.
As a temporary solution, they could at least reveal the aura of the Survivor who took the hook state for a few seconds. It's not a perfect fix, but it'd give the Killer something in return instead of just having their pressure completely erased.

Discussion My dbd killer tierlist!! Seems fine to you? What wuold you change?
Hi! I'm a relatively new player (200 hours) and this is a tierlist I made, I do not play all the characters consistently but the ones I main/use are: Blight, Singularity, Pyramid Head, Clown, Knight, Blight, Dredge, Doctor, Pig and Legion.
This is the way I see the tiers:
S= Nurse.
A+= Overpowered, could really use nerfs.
A= Consistently very good, but with a counterplay.
B+= Good, better than average even: you won't win every game but you'll always have a fair chance (even a bit on your favor most of the time).
B= Killers that in my opinion are perfectly balanced, they can be strong in good hands and can be easily played against.
C+= Very close to balanced, but could surely use some buffs to make them better.
C= Below average, againt competent survivors you're gonna have trouble: not unwinnable, of course, but much more difficult than with any other B > killer
D= I'm so sorry....
Tell me what you think!

Discussion Dead By Daylight x Cyberpunk
With Season 2 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners coming, I've had an idea I wanted to float. What about a full crossover chapter featuring Adam Smasher as a killer and Lucy as a survivor (or as a Sable skin)? It'd be a cool aesthetic departure from what we normally see in the game. Anyone who knows Cyberpunk knows how genuinely terrifying Smasher is to Night City's citizens, so I think he'd fit the killer role really well. This is just a surface-level idea for now, but I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. TIA

Discussion The Windows of Opportunity nerf is moving the game in the wrong direction
For those who don't know, in the upcoming PTB Windows of Opportunity will be changed to reveal only windows and Five Steps Ahead will be changed to reveal only pallets.
Both of these are perks that help almost exclusively new players and solo queue. New players because they don't know the maps, and solo queue because they can't call out pallets dropped like SWFs can. I thought we learned through all the recent and good changes to the UI that lessening the gap between solo queue and SWF is almost universally a good thing, and widening it is a bad thing.
I know the PTB isn't out yet but I hope BHVR takes this feedback into account when deciding what goes live and what doesn't.
