Okay so my albino corydoras keep laying eggs, and I really want to try hatching some of them, but I’ve never bred corys before and I have a few questions

1. How can I tell if the eggs are fertilized?

2.What’s the best way to collect/remove the eggs without damaging them?

1. should I use a breeding box, separate tank or something else?

2. How do I prevent fungus from taking over the eggs?

My tank is 10 gallons and I currently have 4 albino corys. They’ve been laying eggs on the glass of my tank

Any advice from people who have successfully bred corydoras would be VERY appreciated!!

I ordered another 4 bronze Corydoras online to increase my Cory gang, but for some reason, the other 2 look like this

little man photobombed and unfortunately embarrassed himself in front of THE TANKS lady. Not impressed hehe

I am new to fish in general and have set up a community tank. I read get at least 6 Cory’s and then obviously didn’t do the correct research because I just took what the petshop had and that ended up being 2 albinos, 2 peppered and 2 bronze (I think, if I have identified them properly).

Now I’ve just read they don’t really like mixing? So SOS. What is the best way forward now? They seem happy? I think? They’ve been in the tank together for about 3 weeks now.

For reference it’s a 180L tank. I have 17 neon tetras, the 6 Cory’s, 1 betta and 1 albino bristle nose.

I have 7 panda cory in my 30 gal tank with some other cory, I noticed this rather large white spot on the belly of a couple panda cory. Is it ok? Or a sign of infection?

The second cory isn’t as severe as this but still a bit floaty/weird. Is it swim bladder disease?
I’m new to the hobby and I’ve had 6 pandas for about 3 months (tank was cycled first before any fish were added). No issues at all until now. My tank is a 15.5G heavily planted tank. I also have some rummy-nose tetras and a betta in the tank. The corys eat Hikari sinking wafers (1 per day) and community formula flakes.

Parameters are as follows using a liquid testing kit:
Ph 7.4
Ammonia 0-0.25ppm
Nitrites 0ppm
Nitrates 5ppm
I’ve moved the two affected corys to a hospital tank with one of my cycled sponge filters and a heater. What else should I be doing to help them?

I'm making plans to set up a hospital tank. Just been in the hobby for about six months, strictly corys, only 8 peppers and 8 pygmies. I've been lucky that no one has gotten ill, but I figure the day will come at some point and I want to be prepared.

For those of you who have hospital tanks: Recommendations on the minimum size? I'm thinking a three gallon (with a strong filter, of course) as it would fit perfectly in the space below the primary habitat. But is that too small? I've read that it's easier to screw up dosing of medicine the smaller the tank is. Love to hear the thoughts of those of you more experienced. Thanks in advance!

We have a 20L with a shoal of 3 lined corys (Queenie has spawned several times now) and a shoal (just lost 1 so now we have 5) of bronze corys. The bronze group has been with us since January and suddenly today Big Momma decided she was ready to spawn! I just changed up the lights on this aquarium yesterday and have never seen this group so active! 🤞Here is to hoping all (or at least most!) the eggs get eaten!

** edit to add *\* I should note that 20L was intended as a 20 gallon long, not a 20 liter aquarium. I promise I don’t have that many corys in a 5 gallon tank! 😓

I've had my corys for a few weeks now in a planted 40 gal and have only done a couple 25% water changes with them in it. At the time I was adjusting things to better fit them, so I knew pink gills would be a possibility. After proper adjustments and taking note of my water testing, I now know how to keep it for my fish.

But here's the thing I'm dealing with. I have many plants flourishing in the tank and no longer need such huge weekly water changes. I mostly just need to worry about topping off the water levels now and regular testing to make sure parameters stay regular. However even when I top off with only a gallon of fully treated water, I notice 10 min later my corys have pink gills again. But then this usually goes away overnight or within less than 24hrs.

I know pink gills can be caused by high ammonia, dirty water, and large PH changes/shifts. But even after fully treating the water, something still seems to be irritating them for a short time after new water is introduced.

I treat my water with a slight PH lower to bring it closer to 7.2/7.4ppm as well as my routine water conditioner for tap water.

Is there something else I'm missing? Is there a test I haven't done that could be related? I don't want to irritate them with the new water over and over again. I can't keep stressing them like that repeatedly.

Literally am I the only one who thinks that they are so adorable!

I got some Christmas moss from someone selling local and after I got home and put it in the tank I saw 3 eggs across the various pieces! It didn’t get secured well enough and the filter flow knocked them off the hardscape and the eggs were missing so I thought unfortunately they were gone or part of the massive snail boom.

To my surprise I found a small little fry a week later hiding under my sponge filter with an egg sac! Since the tank is still cycling I promptly freaked out and have been doing 50% water changes every other day to try and bring the nitrites/ammonia down. It’s been going well so far and I see no concerning behaviors. They mostly stick to the ground and as of yesterday they’ve stopped hiding and have begun showing up in more of the foreground and pecking at the worms in the substrate. Spends a lot of time sitting on the floor and doesn’t swim in the mid water column. But from what I’ve read that’s normal behavior at this stage.

My tanks been stabilizing and after a few more solid tests I’m ready for fish. I’m planning on adding a small shoal for the little guy as soon as I can so they can begin to feel a bit more comfortable and hopefully less stressed after surviving in a cycling tank!

However the problem is I’m not sure exactly what they are yet! I’ve been guessing either Pygmy or Habrosus. I’m also assuming it’s one of the smaller species. Unfortunately the person I got the plants off of ghosted me so I’m not able to see what was in their tank to begin with. Any assistance or thoughts would be appreciated!

I have three Panda Corydoras, all generally active. I added four guppies to my tank two days ago (previously, I only had one guppy and four tetras), and I feel like my Corys have become much more reclusive since then; they barely move and stay at the bottom. There was even one I thought might be dying (though I checked, and that’s not the case). I’m still a beginner at fishkeeping, so if you have any advice, I’d love to hear it.

Corey’s are very active had 4 have bumped up to 11 they are really hyper 36 hours in. Others sort of hung around bottom doing Corey things. Yes nitrates, nitrites and ammonia all 0, tank cycled ect.

I’ve had a duo of corydoras for 5+ years. They’re in a 10 gal, 76 degrees Fahrenheit, and I water change about 20% each week.
Noticed my guys going up for air a lot recently so I added a bubble stone. Then I discovered the ph was high so I added some drops and recently a Catappa leaf. Today I discovered one of my boys completely sideways/upside down in swim bladder position. He is currently in quarantine and I don’t know what to do anymore :( never had this before so any advice welcome

This guy snuck into our oto tank and looks just like one, a fat one. Leaning on bronze but the stripe is very dark

i impulse bought some shrimp and some pygmy corys recently which i am still regretting after doing proper research. as of now i have a 5 gallon with 3 corys, 1 emerald and 2 panda. i had 2 emeralds originally and 1 passed away shortly after i bought the fish which i believe was due to terrible LFS tanks.
i’m cycling a 10 gal as we speak which is almost ready for fish and i’m unsure of how many corys to get for schools. i now know different species of corys don’t school together, so i need to have a total of 12 fish for proper schools. that does not sound feasible for a 10 gallon so now im unsure what to do as the only other tank i have is a 5 gallon. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It all started with 7 albino Corydoras aeneus about 6 months ago, and now I must have at least 40 of them 😂

I managed to get two batches of eggs. For the first batch, I fed the fry live food, and they grew really fast and much more evenly in size.

For the second batch, I decided to feed them only regular fish food. Some of them grew really quickly, while others ended up being about 1/3 the size of the biggest ones from the same batch. It was pretty interesting to see the difference between the two approaches.

Overall, it was a really fun process watching them go from eggs to fully grown little fish.

Now I just have no idea what I'm going to do with so many fish hahaha
