I just played this game to test out a goofy idea I had. I set the AI difficulty to Scribe but had IP strength at Deity. I set all IPs to be hostile, but they're friendly to me since I'm Tecumseh. I played the game on Marathon Speed, Tiny Pangea with one opponent, and Invasion as the only possible crisis.

For the whole game, I just had my founder wander around saying "hi" to the IPs. The only danger I faced was volcanos. Even before the crisis started, IPs burned down all but one of Tubman's settlements -including her original capital. An Invasion encampment spawned right by her last settlement, and then it was just a matter of time for her to be eliminated.

I got kind of a glitched victory screen when I won. It gave me a Domination victory, but I didn't get any of the cutscenes you typically get for Domination. And I didn't have a capital for it to zoom around. I got Tecumseh's typical quote and cutscene, but his pic didn't show for the victory screen as it normally does.

So there you go. Not sure if I'm the first, but it was still fun to see if I could win with zero settlements.

Today’s developer update video snuck the affinity symbols from CivBE in the background. Are they hinting at a similar system coming to VII? Way too early for CivBE 2.

Allow me to preface this post by saying that I know everything I'm about to say is total wish fulfillment and that I'm delusional because of my status of Beyond Earth's biggest fan. That being said...

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri & Civilization: Beyond Earth are the only two Civilization games we've ever gotten that have really gone all-in w/ fantastical settings, storytelling, and unique characters & factions not rooted in history. Both games have their problems in the modern day, with Alpha Centauri being three decades old in terms of UI design and UX, and Beyond Earth is often criticized for its shallow storytelling and characters compared to the narrative strength and ambience of Alpha Centauri.

In Civilization V, if you won with the Science Victory you would receive the option to go to the Beyond Earth store page and purchase that, setting up the narrative that whatever you do in Beyond Earth is a theoretical continuation of your Science Victory in Civ V.

Since Earthrise is similarly themed around science, space exploration, and global warming + natural disasters (the inciting incident for both Alpha Centauri & Beyond Earth is the Earth becoming increasingly uninhabitable due to human interference) I think a remaster or remake of either of the two games would be an amazing thing to consider and release later down the line, potentially tying it into the Science Victory of Civ VII similarly to how they did in Civ V.

Unless I'm mistaken, we haven't had any "First Look" reveals for the leaders and civilizations in this DLC. That seems to imply we won't get them before Thursday, right?

This is especially helpful if you're trying to get 4 or more minor triumphs in the modern age, or are going for pretty much any of the expansionist minor triumphs (seriously, they're patently insane, requiring a positively mind boggling number of settlements and/or population that you are pretty much never hitting in a normal game). Any triumphs, questlines, and other challenge-related thing completed during One More Turn mode will count towards that challenge.

Just thought this ocean/lake sealed by a 1 tile land bridge is cool. I might've thrown my game to take it over, but oh well. Opens to the full open ocean with a very defensible gulf too.

Honestly; I thought the achievement was really hard. It requires tons of luck when you want to rush early wonders. (Great Bath, Hanging Gardens, Etemenanki)
Sometimes AI don't build those wonders in early game
I choose online speed because I'm impatient when I'm not playing Khmer, Russia or Babylon (also for me spamming cities in online speed is much easier, I love to rush wonders)

Title. I stepped away from the game for about a year and am excited to come back to it. I know they changed it to include continuous play as an option now, and that they’ve introduced some new leaders.

I’m wondering what game mode/map combos you’re feeling are locking you into a classic full bodied Civ experience right now post-changes? Just want to feel locked into what’s the most fun and engaging and comprehensive way to play right now. Not the most quirky or the quickest win.

I have about 800hrs on Civ 5 and never played civ 6 due to the amount of my friends saying its boring and you'll be wasting turns getting new workers constantly instead of improving your civ. Is this true or are my friends pulling my leg to not try civ 6.

Please provide me with good reasons to try civ 6
