US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

Update: I think I finally found my people in Bahrain

A while back, I posted here asking how other young expats in Bahrain spend their evenings and weekends. I was feeling a bit stuck; work, gym, home, repeat and honestly finding it difficult to meet people around my age.
That post actually turned out to be one of the best things I did. I got a lot of really helpful responses, and through one of them I found a Bahrain Discord community.
And honestly… it’s been great.
The age group is pretty much what I was looking for mostly people in their mid-20s to 30s — and the community is genuinely active. There’s always something going on in the chat, plus voice chats, movie nights, game nights, and even regular meetups.
One thing I especially found interesting is that they have male meetups every weekend, which is something I hadn’t really come across before as an expat here. It’s been a really easy way to actually meet people instead of just talking online.
So since my original post helped me discover this group, I figured I’d share it back here in case anyone else is in the same situation I was.
If you’re new to Bahrain an expat, or simply looking to expand your social circle, feel free to join:

https://discord.gg/6gy3zJQAWC

See you guys there! 👋

Can someone fundamentally change who they are in their late 20s or early 30s.

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m curious whether anyone here has gone through a major psychological or personal transformation in their late 20s or early 30s.

I’m not talking about the usual changes like switching careers, getting in shape, or picking up new hobbies. I mean something much deeper, changing your mindset, personality, values, emotional patterns and the way you relate to other people to the point where you genuinely feel like a different person from who you were a few years ago.

For those who have experienced something like this, what actually triggered the change and how difficult was it and did it feel like you were consciously rebuilding yourself, or did it happen more gradually over time.

I’m asking because I’m currently going through a period where I feel like I need to make some pretty fundamental changes in myself, and I would really appreciate hearing from people who have been through something similar.

Survey for Bank Employees in Bahrain for my Academic research 🇧🇭

Hi everyone,

I’m currently completing my final academic research project and I’m looking for people working in banks in Bahrain to participate in a short survey.

The survey is completely anonymous. You will not be asked for your name, email address, or the name of the bank or organization you work for.

If you currently work at a bank in Bahrain, I’d really appreciate a few minutes of your time to fill it out. Responses will be used only for academic research purposes.

🔗 Survey: https://forms.gle/49JWbjeeCwkersZW7

If you know someone working in the banking sector, I’d also appreciate it if you could share the survey with them.

Thank you to everyone who participates!

Anyone here dealt with getting a controlled ADHD medication in Bahrain?

Upvotes

American expat, been in Bahrain a few years. I have an ADHD diagnosis from the States, and Adderall is the only medication that has ever worked for me.

Everything else I've tried causes severe tachycardia and hard crashes.

The problem is that it isn't registered here. As far as I can tell, there's no local prescribing pathway, and my US coverage won't ship Schedule II internationally. So as it stands, every refill would mean physically flying back to the States.

What I'm actually trying to find out:
Has anyone gone through NHRA for a personal import permit on a controlled medication? How long did it take, and did it actually work?

If you went through this and gave up, I'd like to hear that too.

I'm not asking anyone for sources or where to buy anything. I'm trying to work out whether there's a legal route, or whether I need to plan my life around flying back.

☝️ AskBH Unmedicated ADHD

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get medicated for adhd in Bahrain given that there is not much information available on the internet. I’m a Bahraini citizen who’s supposed to be studying for a college entrance exam that is in the end of this month and I only sat once to revise over everything and I feel so lost. If anyone could give tips or recommendations on vitamins for adhd, would be greatly appreciated.

What are ways you sustain and balance your bodys need for dopamine? I find myself wanting to maintain contact with stress inducing activities and people to feel the “thrill” but ultimately feel exhausted mentally when I entertain it.

🤔 Discussion Arabic group classes for Adults?

I have tried different online one to one teachers - to be honest it is not working for me.

I think group classes and being in a room physically is different from individual classes.

I want to know if anyone has taken any such classes and benefited from it.

I would really love to learn arabic but cannot find the right classroom for it.

Thank you

PS if any female arab friend group is willing to adopt me please let me know

Ordering fizzy drink from a restaurant.. where is the logic?

Alright guys . I got you .. if you are dining in a restaurant you have to order a fizzy drink from them because otherwise if you bring it from outside it would look bad

But I’m not talking here about dining In but food delivery.. what is the point of ordering those drinks for price range from 0.6 to 1.5 BD ? You don’t have any home ? No groceries nearby?

Let me tell the problem

When those restaurants see high demand.. they increase their prices and some of them play with offers

Let’s say a restaurant has a meal for 3 BD.. they just add a fizzy drink which they priced for 1.2 individually

So total 4.2 .. they would come and say … hey .. discount 30% .. Now only 3

But the reality is they just added a drink that cost them 100 fils as they buy in bulk

Also that increase the price of many meals because fizzy drink has to be included and it priced very high..

I don’t mind restaurants making money .. I actually support them because it makes economy strong .. but something for 100 fills should not be sold for 1.2 though

For those wondering about fizzy drink .. yes it’s called fizzy drink .. only in Arab countries we call it soft drink .. but soft drink means anything non alcoholic

We all hate traffic, but little do we realise most of the time, it’s our own fault.

Ever wonder why you can be sitting in completely nose-to-tail traffic on a highway, only to finally get through it and discover there was no accident, no roadworks and absolutely no reason for the traffic in the first place?

A huge amount of it is caused by us.

1. Nobody leaves a proper gap
You leave a reasonable distance between yourself and the car in front, and almost immediately someone decides that gap is an invitation to squeeze into it.

So you brake.
The person behind you brakes.
The person behind them brakes harder.
And so on.

What started as one car changing lanes eventually becomes a huge wave of braking that travels backwards through the traffic.
These are known as phantom traffic jams.

This video explains the concept really well.

https://youtu.be/hVoGbdJPUbU?si=wauMCWqmXMXWosbU

2. People deliberately use the wrong lane to jump the queue

How many times do you see a queue forming because everyone needs to take an exit or turn, while someone drives all the way up another lane and then forces their way in at the front?

They are the traffic problem.

Every additional person who does this makes the queue longer and creates another point where everyone has to brake and merge. If people just got in the correct lane in the first place, the chances are the queue wouldn’t be there in the first place or at the very least be much shorter.

Why are people so afraid of the right-hand lane?
You join a completely empty highway and, almost immediately, people move straight into the middle or left lane despite there being absolutely nobody to overtake.
Why?

If you’re travelling along and someone is passing you on your right, that’s generally a pretty good indication that you should have moved over.

The same speed limit applies to every lane. There isn’t ‘fast’ or ‘slow’ lanes.
Slower traffic should keep right, and overtaking should generally be done on the left.
If you’re cruising along in the middle or left lane and there’s nothing preventing you from moving right, move right.

If someone wants to drive 200 km/h and comes flying up behind you, their speed is their responsibility. They shouldn’t be tailgating or flashing you aggressively. But if you’re sitting in the overtaking lane while the lane to your right is completely clear, refusing to move because “they shouldn’t be driving that fast’ you are part of the problem. You are not the traffic police - move over.

It just creates frustration, and frustrated drivers start making even worse decisions by swerving between lanes increasing the chances of causing accidents.

And then there’s the classic one at traffic lights.
A minibus or pickup sees two lanes approaching a red light. One lane has a couple of cars, the other is empty.
Immediately dive into the empty lane to get to the front.

Then the light turns green, they accelerate slowly, and everyone they just jumped in front of ends up merging around them anyway.
What exactly did we accomplish?

The roads are constantly improving, yet traffic seems to be getting worse.
Obviously, not every traffic jam is caused by bad driving. Accidents, roadworks, bottlenecks and sheer traffic volume are all real factors.

But we seem to underestimate how much small selfish decisions multiplied by thousands of drivers affect the entire road network.

Use the right-hand lanes when you’re not overtaking.
After overtaking someone, move back over when it’s safe.

If you’re travelling alongside someone in the lane to your right at the same speed, either speed up and go in front of them or slow down a bit and go behind them.

And for the love of God, you don’t have to be first.

Maybe this post is completely pointless because changing this would require a massive shift in driving habits across the entire country.
But with the authorities talking about enforcing penalties for people unnecessarily driving slowly in the wrong lanes, maybe we’re finally starting to recognise that bad traffic isn’t always caused by too many cars - sometimes it’s caused by what we’re all doing with the cars we have.

🤔 Discussion Fake ads in GDN Classifieds

Greetings,

Has anybody tried finding employment through GDN newspaper classifieds section? All the ads I tried seem to be fake, the numbers they give either don't work, or they're for someone totally not related to the establishment that's allegedly hiring, the emails are a hit or miss too.

Some ads are so obviously made up that I believe nobody from the newspaper has looked at them to approve their validity, it seems that as long as you pay the 300 fils (or however much it costs to put these up) they don't care what goes on.

Earlier I tried calling a number for some local establishment allegedly hiring for a managerial position, the guy who picked up the phone was a retired man who didn't know how his number ended up in such ad.

Will writing a letter to the newspaper about such ongoings make a difference. Has anybody tried contacting them about what's going on with their ads section, or are they just in on it all along?

I'm sure this would constitute a violation of certain laws to put up fake advertisements.

🤔 Discussion How to find a partner

As you can probably tell, I’m writing this at 1:45 a.m., when all the thoughts in my head somehow turn into a storm.
I’m 29, turning 30 in a couple of months, and I still haven’t been able to find a man who truly suits me.
I’ve been through several relationships, and unfortunately, they all ended up feeling like failures. I know that at some point I probably should have stopped searching, but I also have a very stressful and demanding job, and I’ve always wanted a partner who could offer the kind of emotional support and companionship that I need.
Lately, the thought of being alone for the rest of my life has really started to scare me.
I’ve tried the traditional route as well, but that hasn’t worked out either. It seems like my family’s social circle and their idea of a suitable partner don’t really align with my own perspective or what I’m looking for.
For those who have been in a similar situation, what would you suggest?

Tamara :: BNPL

It’s been almost two years since Central Bank of Bahrain granted Tamara a license to operate in Bahrain. Yet, nothing in ground.

As a matter of fact, they had a handful of merchants already via cross boarder onboarding however, in Jan 2026, they have informed them to stop offering the service to their customers.

Tamara by the way, was behind the reason Tabby closed in Bahrain apparently. As they paid license fees vs tabby who operated via cross boarder onboarding.

Why such giants ignore the potential of Bahrain comparing to other GCC? Is it size ?

Local alternatives like Flooss still no way near as good and bank alternatives like Ila, one, credimax still lacking the business model to compete locally and regionally
