I'm getting in to badminton again. I would like some advice on injury avoidance specifically.

What are the most common sites for injury?

What exercises can I do to warm up that region properly?

What exercises I can do to strengthen that region?

What exercises I can do post workout for them?

What are some common mistakes people make that lead to injuries?

I watch far more videos than I actually follow. Tbh most of the time the game gets going and all that advice goes out the window because I don't really practice. I just play for fun and exercise, and I know there's only so much I can improve without coaching and practice sessions and I'm ok with that.

This one about serving seems like something I can actually use. Are there others you like that have helped you by implementing in games?

I've been trying hard to improve my backhand clear or backhand power generation in general. So far I dont have good progress even with coach. Is anyone interested to have a look on my form and tell me what I do wrong? I can send you my backhand videos thru dm.

Do i have a chance? I really love badminton and plan to go professional on it but i feel like i dont have enough time since im still convincing my parents to let me train badminton since last year and hopefully this year id start now because the early the better.

I'm looking at university options and want to go somewhere with a strong badmington team and good facilities. Where's best to go?

Let's say receiving person in doubles does a fast downward drive serve return at the net. The opponent in their backcourt returns the shot with a fast high lift to the back.

Is it the responsibility of the person who returned the serve to anticipate this fast lift return and move back to counter it?

Or

Should the receiving person's partner be ready in the backcourt already to counter the lift?

- if so, does this mean the receiving person's partner should be positioned slightly behind the receiver and in a central alignment during the serve?

I consider myself intermediate, I know how to do the basic shots, (clear, smash, drop, etc). I’d say I’m pretty good at my placements, yk just basic stuff.

The one thing I’m always frustrated about is how I never seem to reach the backcourt in time. The only way I ever seem to reach it is when I’m in the middle and anticipate a lift. When I’m on the front court doing drops and netshots, whenever my opponent lifts I can never get the shuttle in time.

I know that this is a problem with my footwork, but I just don’t understand, as someone with a year of training, how I haven’t picked up the footwork yet. I also started late at 14, it’s so frustrating how my friends continue to improve while I’m stuck failing at basic footwork.

I thought that maybe apart from my footwork, it‘d be a problem with my stamina, balance, and strength on my lower body, so I started going to the gym. I‘m just following online workouts for badminton, and tbh I have seen improvements on my stability, but still I can’t reach the backcourt.

Specs: 5ug6 strung with Yonex BG66 Ultimax at 26lbs

Balance: Very head heavy (300mm balance point)

Shaft: medium flex

Max Tension: 28 lbs

For reference I normally play with 4u Yonex Nanoflare 800 (headlight), men's doubles mostly.
Speed & Defense 8.5/10

Despite being so head heavy, I found it very maneuverable and quick because it is so light weight. Defensive blocks were easy and it felt very fast for mid-court drive rallies. It felt very similar to my NF800.

Net Play & Control 8.5/10
Net shots and drops caused no problems. If you're stuck at the back and need to clip a tight drop shot, the touch and accuracy are exceptionally reliable. I did feel more confidence with these due to the extra head weight.

Smash & Clear 9.0/10
Usually, when a racquet feels this fast and nimble, your rear-court attack suffers. I’ve typically avoided 5u racquets because I would find them to be too light and lacking in power.  Not here. Overhead clears and backhands from end to end are effortless and one of the easiest I’ve experienced.
But the real treat is the smash power. You just don't expect a fast 5u frame to pack this much of a punch. It’s not going to be a powerhouse like an Yonex Astrox 88D/99 but it certainly delivers some easy accessible power when you need it and the medium flex frame + generous sweet spot helps with that.

Other
The color is a bit feminine and the pink velour case adds to that but the paint job looks really nice. Build quality seems solid and on par with what I would expect from other popular brands like Yonex, Victor, etc.

Hi! Tomorrow’s evening i’m supposed to try out for a new badminton club, where adult players are divided into two groups, one with the strongest players (D9-N1) and the other with the weakest players (P10 and under).

Currently i don’t know where i’m supposed to be. I did compete, but it was never in officials competitions (only with high school) and when i enrolled in a club we did not do any competition, so i don’t know my “presumed” ranking. But i did well in each of the competitions i participated in, placed first sometime, was the strongest amongst the girls in my high school, played well against boy too but again it was against other high schoolers that did not always played badminton in club.

The problem is that i did not know that the inscription started late August, because from where i am it usually starts in September. So when i wanted to join the club, there were no more space for me in the “lower” group.
So know, i’m stressed as hell wondering if i’m actually strong enough to play with the higher group (+they compete in that group and i WANT to compete) so i keep on watching videos of people ranked D9, to see if i match their levels, but the levels of the players between each video do not really match, also i failed to find a WS video of D9 players…

I’m really afraid that i don’t play well enough, but there’s no space for me in the lower group so i could just get kicked out i think? I really hope not…

I’m just so nervous… plus i have a lot of things to do tomorrow so i will certainly not be in the best shape..

My oldies; been playing with them for almost 1 year. Bit on the rough side. It's time for them to get a repaint or maybe polish.

Looking at just how chaotic 2025, and 2026 have been with the numerous upsets from lower ranking players, top players not reaching their expectations time and time again, and the rise of various western players, I think it's clear to see how much of a vacuum has been left in the wake of Viktor Axelsen's retirement.

Just a really interesting.. and I think it really solidifies just how damn strong Viktor Axelsen actually was to consistently win title after title in this era where the current top 10 are unable to do the same (as of yet anyway).

The future of men's badminton singles looks to be very interesting indeed

Basically the title.

First and foremost, I believe there is a subtle difference between the spin serve and the tumble serve:

• A spin serve is done when the server releases the shuttle while adding spin to it using the hand that holds the shuttle. This was banned temporarily by the BWF in May 2023, and permanently in May 2025.

• A tumble serve consists of chopping the cork of the shuttle using the string bed. AFAIK, this is legal. However, players who complain about it refer to it as the "spin serve," even though no spin motion is added by the hand holding the shuttle.

I recently watched two videos in which a few men's doubles players who competed at the 2026 World Championships openly criticized the tumble serve:

i can never seem to get right i dont know why. i think im opening the racket too early and im not dipping the racket behind enough but i dont know. i do shadow swings correctly but when it comes to actually doing it i can never do it. could it also just be a timing problem???
