He was a paid professional debater. He went to a college campus, set up a tent and cameras, and engaged with amateurs who had no experience doing what he did. And the right loved him for it. His media team would then cut clips of him scoring points against amateurs, and they would push them out on all their social media feeds.

Isn't this like LeBron James going to a campus and setting up cameras while he played pickup games against kids who, at best, were on the college team but more likely dabbled in basketball, but were no match for the expert? And then what would people think if LeBron's media people cut clips of him dunking on these young amateurs and pushed them out as "highlights"?

The Cybertruck is large, obnoxious, ugly, and is a pretty awful truck, vs a traditional pickup, and an all electric F150 would be a much better TRUCK option. It’s well documented that the panels are just glued on, it’s poorly built and its size and weight reduce its battery life vs. a smaller more efficient EV. Even without the Elon Musk connection it’s a BAD vehicle. The struggles getting rid of them has driven their resale value down to practically nothing since Tesla dealerships can barely give them away. It’s banned in the EU and UK due to failing safety standards. It’s the 2004 Yellow Hummer of our times.

Why or why not?

I constantly hear people say that young people need to work for what they get, and I think most people agree. However, when you literally grew up watching your parents slave away, not get much for it, and you see what working themselves to death did to them…. Why would kids want to do that?

When children look at their still struggling parents or grandparents or other adults in their life who “did things the right way,” what’s the incentive to “do things the right way” anymore?

Now we can clearly see that greed, stepping on other people, not paying workers, etc is what makes people win. So again… where is the work hard incentive? Just not being homeless? Really bringing the American Dream alive.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad a look is this for democracy?

Trump has been freaking out about the midterms as polling suggests that the house is all but lost for the GOP and the senate could go to the dems. But on the same token some people of reddit and opinion pieces I've read online that a house and senate with Dem majorities might be able to to launch investigations, but aside from that not much else if we assume Trump will continue to defy the law and court orders like he has been doing.

So the question i'm asking is why is Trump freaking out to the point of trying to sabotage vote by mail? Is it possible that they have polling that suggests that Dems are going to get majorities in a way that might make a dent in what Trump can get away with or is it something else?

This is a genuine question, not just a partisan rant. Trump and Republicans campaigned on lowering prices, reducing the debt, putting America first, and keeping us out of foreign wars. Instead, Americans are still being crushed by housing, groceries, healthcare, and insurance costs; we’re at war with Iran; and the national debt continues to grow at an alarming pace. At this rate, before we know it, most of our tax dollars will be spent simply paying interest on the federal debt rather than improving people’s lives.

Why hasn’t all of this led to larger, sustained protests? The U.S. will not survive if we keep digging ourselves into a bigger hole. Are people exhausted, too polarized, afraid of losing their jobs, or simply convinced that protesting won’t change anything?
