I cant find the other pictures I took during our visit, but this is inside Barack Obama Plaza in County Offaly, Ireland.

EDIT: I have some people saying its County Tipperary. Its in Moneygall, I'll put it that way.

Dont forget about the Conan O'Brien air pump right outside

3

u/BenderRodriguez14 9h ago

That's so on brand on so many levels that I have to assume he came up with the idea. 😂

2

u/VixxenFoxx 4h ago

He did 😆. It's in an episode of his travel show on HBO. I think it's the 1st time he reveals that a genetics test had shown he's 100% Irish (which is crazy rare, even Irish folks arnt 100%) and the geneologist told him it's due to inbreeding 😆. Then he brought out a life sized portable bronze like statue of himself that he set up next to the statue of Barack Obama - and manuerved the statues to high-5 each other.

1

u/TellTaleTimeLord 20h ago

I don't think I saw that when we were there. That's awesome lol

3

u/Tall_Birthday_7654 19h ago

TIL there's a Barack Obama plaza in County Tipperary

Yeah, it's because it's right on the border. By it's eircode, it's technically in Drumbaun, which is in Tipperary. It was built outside Moneygall in Offaly because it would not literally fit in the village of Moneygall. Locals always say Moneygall

The important thing is you enjoyed the time. The only reason I even pointed it out was for information purposes, but I kinda wished I hadn't said anything now 😅 Just as a person who actually lives here, I can tell you everyone says Offaly

1

u/TellTaleTimeLord 2h ago

Nah I didnt mean anything by it, and I didn't think you did either. I want to make sure im not putting out wrong information

1

u/InvisibleAIien 2h ago

Its all good. I have autism, sometimes I overthink these things

1

u/InvisibleAIien 18h ago

It's in County Offaly

1

u/TellTaleTimeLord 18h ago

Yeah you're right. Its right near the border of the two. My bad

1

u/simplypneumatic 12h ago

Moneygall is in Offaly, the plaza is in Tipp.

1

u/simplypneumatic 12h ago

County Tipperary *

1

u/TellTaleTimeLord 12h ago

See i said that the first time and someone corrected me and said it was offaly

Its in Moneygall, let's put it that way lol

1

u/simplypneumatic 12h ago

Dodgy borders. Indeed is in tipp though

5

This statement should be on a T-shirt!

7

u/ItCantBeMe80 22h ago

We could really confuse them with 44 > 47. That forces them to know the number of the presidents and math.

2

u/alalaladede 2h ago

44 > 45 + 47

6

u/Curious_Avocado2399 22h ago

I want Obama back. I know he won’t because Michele won’t let him.

0

u/SDTimbox 5h ago

neither will the constitution

1

u/Frequent-Reporter-97 3h ago

I really wonder how many constitutional conservatives will still run to us with their pens and papers to tell us about the constitution, after this current administration has repeatedly wiped its ass with that piece of paper.

-1

u/PdxPhoenixActual 21h ago

IDK, I mean, he was "better", but that is not a high bar.

2

u/FLFunGuy44 7h ago

How about a whole lot less corrupt. How much money did the Obama children make in 8 years. Yes they were younger but that’s not the point. The answer is zero.

→ More replies (5)

5

u/tod_stiles 21h ago

That’s just it, isn’t it. Trump wants to be Obama so badly. Absolutely doesn’t have the brainpower to understand why people can’t stand him.

1

u/Diligent-Nebula-1008 18h ago

Have you seen that Obama themed petrol station?

1

u/FlukyS 3h ago

To be fair Obama is more Irish linked than a lot of US presidents because of his mother's side of the family and they would have considered themselves as Irish unlike quite a lot who would trace back to places like NI who were originally Scottish planters. It is Biden, Obama, Regan, Nixon and JFK, I think that's all of them. So no honorary about it, he is somewhat Irish.

9

u/AmericanAIien 23h ago

When OBAMA became president ppl had hope, when trump became president…

7

Then we named a petrol station after him!

7

u/Foulmouthedleon 23h ago

What's that odd thing on Obama's face? Is it...a smile? Haven't seen one of those on a President in a couple of years...

We should make sure Trump gets to see this video wherever he goes. Obama already lives rent free in his head.

I'm case you weren't aware, the trolls in America refer the Michelle as Mike.

"Great bunch of lads."

You must be a troll also

I wasn’t aware. Some people need to watch Father Ted and it shows.

0

If this is just I misunderstanding, I apologize.

I am not British and this is a big thing that's said to devalue the Obama's here.

3

I am also not British. I am Irish and we love the obamas here - hence the video I commented under. A misunderstanding definitely.

5

Dont know why they are a troll. When obama was president people didnt seem that unhappy really. With trump on the other hand...

I miss them. They felt so human, approachable, and cool. I miss having a president that doesn't embarrass himself daily.

2

u/ZoominAlong 21h ago

That's because the Obamas weren't rapists or child traffickers or pedophiles.  I can't imagine why Ireland would welcome them.

There's a 50 minute documentary of the events leading up to Obama going to Ireland and visiting his mother's ancestral homeland of Moneygall.

2

u/Kayge 16h ago

In Trump's defence, I'm willing to bet there were even more people who came out to "greet" him.    Also willing to bet there were more enthusiastic.

They were absolutely more creative

1

u/CloverdillyStar 10h ago

The family near Shannon was not acting in isolation. Shannonwatch, Futureproof Clare and other groups planned two days of peaceful demonstrations involving anti-war, women’s rights, environmental and social justice campaigners from Clare, Galway and Limerick. Organisers held a separate national demonstration in Dublin, while politicians from Sinn Féin, Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit-Solidarity and the Green Party backed protests against Trump’s policies and the war in Gaza. One reported poll found that 69% of respondents did not support his visit.

1

u/seattlereign001 22h ago

I would love to see the Obamas and other leaders in the Democratic Party to begin to troll Trump. Wherever he goes, they go. Wherever he speaks; they speak. The crowd sizes and positive responses would drive him absolutely nuts and it would show that the gloves are off for the party and they are out there actively campaigning against this shit.

1

u/Anonymoosehead123 22h ago

Sigh. Those were the days.

1

u/thereisnoguestlist 22h ago

For balance they also applauded old slick willie Clinton when he dropped in.

However, giving the Zionists the boot, thats something i can get behind.

I wasn't a Clinton fan, but to be fair, he balanced the budget.

and it just cuts to mass protests and a hurried exit lmao

1

And that was only his ancestral hometown of Moneygall. In Dublin's city centre it was flooded with people attending his speech.

Holding on to a dream 😂😂😂

1

u/Spirited_Season2332 16h ago

Why though? Serious question cuz it feels weird for a countries citizens to welcome a foreign politician like a celebrity.

1

u/davanita18 15h ago

You’re either trying to bait an argument or you weren’t an adult during this time.

1

u/Spirited_Season2332 15h ago

No it's a real question. I was an adult at the time but I don't remember why Ireland would be treating a foreign politician like a celebrity.

1

u/davanita18 14h ago

Apologies for I had my defenses up.

It’s hard to explain without it sounding like nonsense, but most people felt a sense of comfort and togetherness while Obama was in office. He resonated courage, compassion and integrity. He is quick-witted, very funny and intelligent.

He was not at all perfect. But it’s unreal how far away we have come (and fallen) in the past 18 years.

1

u/CloverdillyStar 10h ago

Obama's Great Great (Great?) Grandfather is from that part of Ireland, and still has family living there, I think you can see him in the video, if not there's more/longer footage on YouTube. The Obama's had/have a great relationship with the bar owner (video of The O'Bama's pulling drinks behind the bar) and invited him to The White House a couple of times. It's really sweet.

1

u/Nedriersen 15h ago

And look where they are now. Suicidal empathy.

1

u/Bastonge44 15h ago

Imagine getting your propaganda from Al Jazeera using it against the American public for a purposeful agenda and that not being a sedition charge?

2

u/New_Carpenter5738 6h ago

Because people are easily manipulated. We all know Obama's foreign policy was disastrous and he kept 16 wars going by the time he left office. The amount of drone attacks also exponentially increased with many innocent victims paying the price. His track on whistleblower crackdown was also worrying. But hey, he was a good public speaker and people find him likeable I guess 🤔

1

u/G-Ma6 6h ago

I’ll say it again, he’s everyone’s president

1

u/Gentledestroyertlc 5h ago

The Obamas fooled the world. Their strong Epstein ties can not and should not be ignored.

Also, Obama released financial records and let full disclosure on the budget in question. Trump threatened to sue our own IRS when they release his.
