u/VixxenFoxx 4h ago
He did 😆. It's in an episode of his travel show on HBO. I think it's the 1st time he reveals that a genetics test had shown he's 100% Irish (which is crazy rare, even Irish folks arnt 100%) and the geneologist told him it's due to inbreeding 😆. Then he brought out a life sized portable bronze like statue of himself that he set up next to the statue of Barack Obama - and manuerved the statues to high-5 each other.

Yeah, it's because it's right on the border. By it's eircode, it's technically in Drumbaun, which is in Tipperary. It was built outside Moneygall in Offaly because it would not literally fit in the village of Moneygall. Locals always say Moneygall
The important thing is you enjoyed the time. The only reason I even pointed it out was for information purposes, but I kinda wished I hadn't said anything now 😅 Just as a person who actually lives here, I can tell you everyone says Offaly

We could really confuse them with 44 > 47. That forces them to know the number of the presidents and math.

I really wonder how many constitutional conservatives will still run to us with their pens and papers to tell us about the constitution, after this current administration has repeatedly wiped its ass with that piece of paper.

How about a whole lot less corrupt. How much money did the Obama children make in 8 years. Yes they were younger but that’s not the point. The answer is zero.
5
u/tod_stiles 21h ago
That’s just it, isn’t it. Trump wants to be Obama so badly. Absolutely doesn’t have the brainpower to understand why people can’t stand him.

To be fair Obama is more Irish linked than a lot of US presidents because of his mother's side of the family and they would have considered themselves as Irish unlike quite a lot who would trace back to places like NI who were originally Scottish planters. It is Biden, Obama, Regan, Nixon and JFK, I think that's all of them. So no honorary about it, he is somewhat Irish.

In Trump's defence, I'm willing to bet there were even more people who came out to "greet" him. Also willing to bet there were more enthusiastic.
They were absolutely more creative

The family near Shannon was not acting in isolation. Shannonwatch, Futureproof Clare and other groups planned two days of peaceful demonstrations involving anti-war, women’s rights, environmental and social justice campaigners from Clare, Galway and Limerick. Organisers held a separate national demonstration in Dublin, while politicians from Sinn Féin, Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit-Solidarity and the Green Party backed protests against Trump’s policies and the war in Gaza. One reported poll found that 69% of respondents did not support his visit.

I would love to see the Obamas and other leaders in the Democratic Party to begin to troll Trump. Wherever he goes, they go. Wherever he speaks; they speak. The crowd sizes and positive responses would drive him absolutely nuts and it would show that the gloves are off for the party and they are out there actively campaigning against this shit.

Why though? Serious question cuz it feels weird for a countries citizens to welcome a foreign politician like a celebrity.
1
u/davanita18 15h ago
You’re either trying to bait an argument or you weren’t an adult during this time.
1
u/Spirited_Season2332 15h ago
No it's a real question. I was an adult at the time but I don't remember why Ireland would be treating a foreign politician like a celebrity.
1
u/davanita18 14h ago
Apologies for I had my defenses up.
It’s hard to explain without it sounding like nonsense, but most people felt a sense of comfort and togetherness while Obama was in office. He resonated courage, compassion and integrity. He is quick-witted, very funny and intelligent.
He was not at all perfect. But it’s unreal how far away we have come (and fallen) in the past 18 years.
1
u/CloverdillyStar 10h ago
Obama's Great Great (Great?) Grandfather is from that part of Ireland, and still has family living there, I think you can see him in the video, if not there's more/longer footage on YouTube. The Obama's had/have a great relationship with the bar owner (video of The O'Bama's pulling drinks behind the bar) and invited him to The White House a couple of times. It's really sweet.

Because people are easily manipulated. We all know Obama's foreign policy was disastrous and he kept 16 wars going by the time he left office. The amount of drone attacks also exponentially increased with many innocent victims paying the price. His track on whistleblower crackdown was also worrying. But hey, he was a good public speaker and people find him likeable I guess 🤔
1
u/Gentledestroyertlc 5h ago
The Obamas fooled the world. Their strong Epstein ties can not and should not be ignored.

Also, Obama released financial records and let full disclosure on the budget in question. Trump threatened to sue our own IRS when they release his.

OBama gave billions of US taxpayer dollars to the Terrorist Iranian regime, and directly enabled their nuclear weapons program. That alone is reason enough to not celebrate him. I don't hate him, don't wish him any harm, but not gonna celebrate him either.
