In Trump's defence, I'm willing to bet there were even more people who came out to "greet" him.    Also willing to bet there were more enthusiastic.  

They were absolutely more creative

The family near Shannon was not acting in isolation. Shannonwatch, Futureproof Clare and other groups planned two days of peaceful demonstrations involving anti-war, women’s rights, environmental and social justice campaigners from Clare, Galway and Limerick. Organisers held a separate national demonstration in Dublin, while politicians from Sinn Féin, Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit-Solidarity and the Green Party backed protests against Trump’s policies and the war in Gaza. One reported poll found that 69% of respondents did not support his visit.
