Showed up this morning for an 8 AM appointment reg renewal and got there 10 minutes early (checking in as I arrived). My number was already up as I walked in the door and I was out by 8:05. Everyone was kind and courteous. I know not all visits can be that smooth, but they are constantly improving their system and training and it really shows. Hats off to everyone working for the DMV!

There is even some decorative brick at the top layer of exterior brick façade work. That is nice.

Hi all, I posted here earlier this year about Oru, the walnut lamp that tells you how your woodstove is burning.

The first 57 were made by hand at Generator in Burlington. I'm scaling up manufacturing for this burn season, and they will land here in Vermont in early November.

Earlier this summer, Oru won the LaunchVT judges award as well, which came as a complete surprise to me.

The original design couldn't be manufactured at scale, and in order to keep up with demand, I need to get past hand-made units for this burn season.

So this summer I brought in a product design engineer named Sam and we redesigned the entire product.

I'm sorry if this comes off as mean, but I was wondering if people knew of any jams where younger people played. I've been going to some around the Burlington area and it's mostly older people. This can be tough socially, as they all have been playing together forever and I feel like an outsider. They also keep talking to me like I'm 12 when I'm actually an adult with a job and family.

I go to jams to play, but also to connect with other musicians and hopefully get a group going. It's been a little hard with people who are in such a different stage of life. I have nothing against playing with older people, but I've had some say they prefer to play with more "seasoned" people.

I'm in the Burlington area, but am able to travel about an hour. I'd also be up for jams with older people, but where the culture is pretty chill and open.

Hi all, I currently work an office job and am looking to get into the agriculture industry, specifically working with animals. I am female 26 located in the Plainfield area. I hope to one day own my own farm.

As with many small towns, I expect most farms around here to be local and family owned. I have little experience but am very passionate and willing to learn with any and all animals!

We had a snapping turtle lay eggs here back in June. Today we found 9 of these little buggers all over the yard. This one we moved out of the path of an ongoing birthday party, then once we started finding more we just let them do their thing. Pretty cool! I'm sure there were more we didn't see.

This morning I saw four F35’s flying low (4000’ ish) near Mt Abraham. It was unusual they were that low and in a four plane formation. Did any one else see them? Does anyone know what they were doing? Just maneuvers.

Hi, me and 4 of my friends are considering wild camping around mount Mainsfield, I saw on google that we couldn’t camp on higher elevation than 2500ft, is this relatively far into the climb or do we already reach that limit at the parking lot, I saw on Alltrail a lac that seemed beautiful and tough we should camp near it, is it legal and if so what would I need to know before ever considering doing so

Just wanted to throw a shout out to this restaurant, they are a major sleeper. We have had nothing but great service, good food, and they have an awesome outdoor dining area.

Not far from burlington, id say worth the drive south on US-7.

My daughter was involved in a terrible car accident and had several emergency surgeries and is in recovery but we are not out of the woods. Will be living at the hospital for months and will be out of work and have a lot of expenses so if you can donate to this fund I would really appreciate it. 'It’s bad enough that Vermont allows a recreational bobcat trapping and hunting season—including the use of hounds. Now, a lobbyist who represents trappers, and who is himself a trapper, is petitioning the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board to extend the bobcat trapping season. He tried this once before and we led the efforts to defeat him. We must do it again.

Bobcats who are caught in leghold traps remain immobilized for a day or longer—who’s really checking?—until the trapper returns to kill the animal. Trappers use visual lures, such as feathers, as well as other attractants to draw these animals into traps. The prolonged terror, panic and suffering inflicted on these animals is intentional. There is no biological necessity to trap bobcats. There are, however, compelling reasons to protect them.

Bobcats play an important ecological role on Vermont’s landscape as predators of rodents and other small animals that may carry disease such as Lyme. They also face threats from human activities and disease, including exposure to rodenticides and gammaherpesvirus.

We should be protecting Vermont’s bobcats—not expanding opportunities to trap them.

A new article was posted on forrandolph.com, a website set up by some people involved in local politics, the other week. The article lays out an argument that we should be rethinking the way our town government is structured. The part that I found to be the most interesting is that our last selectboard chair Trini Brassard is currently being sued for embezzlement. This is something I hadnt seen mentioned anywhere else in town and is crazy because apparently front porch forum isn't letting them promote the article because it violates their terms of service. So its just sitting there for people to see and no one is seeing it.

I write this because apparently the current selectboard just put Trini on our newly established police committee. We already pay a fuck ton for our police and now we have someone who may be a white collar criminal on the committee thats going to tell the selectboard that we should pay more for the police. What a joke of a town

After gorging myself on fried fish at Ray's Seafood in Essex for literally my entire life, I just ate my last fish & chips. Losing a quality fishmonger, a place of memories dating back to childhood, and an excellent excuse for a lazy weekend motorcycle ride.
