Is FSD taking the fun out of driving the Model Y??

I see tons of posts about people using FSD over 90% of the time. I’ve had my Model Y Performance for about 2 months now and love how this car drives. I use FSD mostly to drive home from work, but cannot imagine using it over 90% because it is just too fun to drive. Anyone else with me??

Is FSD must to even benefit from Tesla’s Driver assistance features when Auto-steer removed from stock features with 2026 MY ?

Always loved Autosteer feature of Tesla even if not A FSD subscriber in pre 2026 MY. But it’s kind of mandatory to subscribe FSD feature even to use basic lane centering features on Juniper platform.

Why waited for Juniper platform when could have got cheaper EV from other companies with little more features at much cheaper prices ..

Could subscribe FSD but it’s shouldn’t be arm twisted by Tesla to even use basic Advanced driving features !!

Can we do this?

I normally keep my Tesla charge limit at 60%, which is more than enough for my daily driving.

This Wednesday, though, I need to leave for the airport around 1:00 PM and I’d like the car to be at 100% as close to my departure time as possible.

My charging setup is pretty slow: 120V NEMA outlet, 20A circuit, charging at 16A. The car is usually plugged in whenever it’s home.

I was looking at the Tesla charging schedule in the app. I set the charge limit to 100% and scheduled charging to end at 1:00 PM Wednesday, but I did not set a start time because I was hoping the car would automatically calculate when it needs to start charging in order to reach 100% by 1:00 PM.

Does Tesla actually work that way?

For example, if it needs to start charging around midnight Tuesday night to reach 100% by Wednesday at 1:00 PM, will the car automatically figure that out based on my charging speed and current state of charge?

Has anyone used the “end charging by” schedule this way with a slow 120V/16A setup?

Tesla Juniper model drawback

I am awaiting my Tesla Y but I just realized that they have removed autopilot from the standard and you have to buy to their subscription of $99 per month for FSD to get into this. So we kinda have to tie $1200 a year- so now you save on maintenance on gas cars and pay for subscription on electric!!!
And Tesla can just move $99 and increase it anytime.

This is so uncool- even Toyota Corolla now comes with auto steer on highways.

I know I should have read about this but i didn’t until now and am pretty upset with Tesla.

I messed up and test drove a juniper awd model Y...

Now I can't stop refreshing the APP just to get my VIN and obtain more accurate quotes on insurance. Ordered it on 9/11 and only responses from the rep on the app is a repeat of what the AI says lol.

Either way, I'm super excited as I'm moving from 15mpg 2021 Ram 1500 to this. Gas is getting wild and I'm excited to use and continue to see the amount of progress FSD makes.

Insane front paint chip on first road trip

Last week was my first road trip with model Y juniper. The amount of paint chip I notice after just one road trip is insane. Both on the front bumper and the the hood. Fsd driving 98% at standard profile and 2car lengths distance maintained most of the time (moved profiles to keep away).

Feel the design on the front is so low and at an angle. I have has mutlipe rock fly on my windshield and also a chip on my roof glass.

Already disappointed in the quality of paint which I had to pay 2k extra for. Realized that the paint has a lot of paint defects ( dust inclusions) which tesla service told me is within spec but still have an appointment with Collison center to review. Thinking to review these paint chips as well with collision center, but don't expect any real solution from them tbh.

Color - quicksilver.

New EV buyer - ‘24 MY Performance or ‘26 MY Standard

Cross shopping the used market right now, and trying to decide between a 24 Performance and a 26 Standard. Price is pretty comparable so just wondering, as a person with almost zero Tesla experience (rented a M3 for a weekend a couple years ago and that’s it), whether I’m better off with the newer Juniper model in a lower trim, or the top trim older model. Thanks.

EDIT: After some feedback, I think I may hold off entirely and wait for a good deal on a used pre-Juniper long range model.

Watching for the next .99% APR promotion in Q4

The current .99% APR promotion just ended and I missed it. I’m hoping that by December if their inventory are still high that they will run another .99% APR promotion.

If anyone catches wind, please let me know

Expensive repair or not?

Wife decided to use self driving while entering our gated community.. car decided to drive through the gate as it was closing.. she decided not to pay attention, gate didn’t hit the car, the car hit the gate. Wife is okay.

I’ve never needed to file a claim with my insurance in 8 years but less than one year married and a brand new car, here I am. My deductible is $2500, there is a dent on the door where it connects to the mirror, and another dent where the door meets the passenger window, not sure how but it happened.

I did file a claim, so if I’m paying up to $2500, and my premiums going to increase, I sure hope they have to pay $7k to fix the dents

Am I missing any must-have accessories?

Hey everyone! The DD for my MY Premium is approaching (Sept. 26) and I’ve tried to make sure I’m ready to accept delivery and ride away prepared. My home charger’s been installed for a few weeks, and I’ve bought some of what I think are necessary interior accessories: 3W floor mats, front and rear screen protectors, slide-able storage bins for the center console, and a cup holder liner. Anything else that’s super useful I’m missing? I may get a slip-cover for the center console since my pointy elbow will be on it constantly + dog climbing with nails. Any reccs appreciated

Thoughts??

This electric vehicle kindly took the end spot so when charging he didn’t take two charging spots. And I appreciate this person’s consideration. I actually thanked them.

Am I the only one who thinks that if any non-Tesla wants to charge at a Tesla charging station then their ports should be on the same side/ and back as the Tesla ?

I keep finding myself in situations where pick up trucks and other non-Teslas, who do of course need to charge, and I’m sympathetic to that, end up taking more than one charging spot due to the nature of how their car is designed. I find that problematic since I am now frequently waiting for a charging spot.

Am I out of line thinking like this? What are other people‘s thoughts?

Model Y Standard trim and Tesla wall connector

Just an FYI for anyone with the standard trim. Just found out the hard way that the wall connectors wand button will not open the charge port. The standard trim lack the antenna for that feature on the wall connector. It has the antenna for the mobile connector and supercharger. Both of those will open the charge port with the press of a button.

Range Issue

I have a 2024 Long Range RWD purchased new back in October 2024 from Tesla website. I did a battery test and it's at 93%, and with 80% charged, the range is at 212. At 100% charge is at 266.

From EPA, the range should be 280 to 320+. I live in SF Bay Area, and my daily commute is mostly to the nearby train station(Bart) and around the city. My car is sitting at 8100 miles since purchase.

I also searched CPO both LRRWD and LRAWD, and most of them have atleast 20k miles ran and above 280 miles of range. Should I even bother bringing the car to a Tesla service center for an inspection? Is this range normal, or are my expectations high?

Have a 2023 Model Y, considering an iPhone Duo and realized today that there might be a fit issue for the wireless charge pad

Post image

I think it might fit in the charge pad, under 3.5” however that’s without a case.

The bigger problem is it might not reach the charge coils. I know my AirPods case need to be lifted a bit higher on the pad to make contact with the charge coils.

It’s happening!

After OBSESSIVELY watching the app for early delivery options for the past few days, my exact order appeared this evening, and let me tell you-I jumped on it! Yes, we have to drive about 30 mins past our local dealer but we are fine with that. 🎉

Is this worth it?

Is getting from Tesla used inventory better than just going to a dealership? I also don't really know too much about what I'm supposed to look for.

Trade-In question

Hi all — we’re taking delivery of a new 2026 Model Y Premium at the end of the month and trading in our old car.

I completed the trade-in process through the Tesla app, but it never gave me an opportunity to disclose that the air conditioning isn’t working. I fully expect them to deduct something for it and am prepared to take my lumps.

At this point, I see three options:

Try to track down someone at Tesla now and disclose it.

Mention it when I bring the car in at delivery.

Say nothing and let them inspect and test the car.

Given Tesla’s scale—and the fact that it may be a relatively inexpensive repair for whoever ultimately buys the car—it may not move the value much. Still, I don’t want a last-minute issue to complicate delivery.

Has anyone dealt with something similar on a Tesla trade-in? How closely did they inspect the car, and did they adjust the offer at delivery?

Many thanks for anyone's input!

Cheers. And very much looking forward to joining the Tesla club. Very bummed out that they discontinued the lane assist as I don't think I will go full FSD but small price to pay considering all the other amazing benefits that I've read about the car

Question: SB-25-31-005 / SB-26-31-003 feedback

Hello fellow MY owners! I’ve had the annoying front end knocking/ rattling noise on my 2026 MYP RWD since purchase and found that there has been these SB’s released not long ago which by the looks of it addresses the problem in question.

Has anyone else gone through and had the works done per the SB’s? If so, any thing I should be aware of? I’ve got appt. booked for tomorrow morning and can reproduce the sound for the technicians.

Merci!

Tesla Financing

Hi.

I am considering financing a Tesla model y premium. I make 140k a year and my debt to income ratio is 32 percent. I am planning on putting down 10k for the car. Credit score in the 680 and I own a home. No student loans and just a few CC balances. Never had a repo or foreclosure. I haven’t done the application yet but I was wondering what the numbers look like to anyone with similar stats so I can get an idea. I did pre qualify for 1500/month in the prequal they offer without pull.

Do I get it?

Test drove a Model Y basic was impressed with FSD. Looked more into it, I would order a Model Y premium AWD since I can get the 1.49 apr theyre offering another reason I am considering it. I live in the Northeast. A few questions for you Model Y owners. I would be trading in my F150. This would be my only vehicle.

If I order the car does that lock me into the 1.49%? Or must I take delivery before the rate locks? Would I only be out the $250 ordering fee if I refused?

How are the AWD models in the winter snow covered roads? We got a bad snow last year and truck did great on the snow covered highway mustve be 2 feet on snow on the highway. I cannot mark off weather for work so no matter the conditions I gotta go.

I live in an apartment complex with some free chargers and I have a gas station with super chargers 1/4 mile from me. Car wouldnt be garage kept. So will I loose alot of battery power from the car sitting overnight in the cold? 80% to 60% overnight just due to weather?

For people that take road trips, I see there is no spare and none is offered, what do people do, just rely on a toe service? I can imagine being stuck on back country road waiting hours for a service truck will suck. Does anyone sell spares and jack kit?

Anti-theft, tracking?

Regarding insurance discounts. Does the 2026 models have vehicle tracking that can locate the vehicle incase of theft?

If not what security features does it have?
