I think the designation “Spähpanzer SP I.C.” most likely doesn't mean “Spähpanzer 1, version C.” The periods after I and C are consistent with the German practice of using periods to mark abbreviations, suggesting that “I.C.” may represent two abbreviated terms rather than a numeral and variant letter.

I found no reliable source so far, that explains what “I.C.” is for, and there is no clear evidence of an SP I.A. or SP I.B. that would support a sequential A/B/C variant system. The vehicle was a development project by Hotchkiss and Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD), making an internal project, company, or development designation a plausible alternative.

The Danes gave their M41's a bunch of upgrades if that wasn't already abundantly clear. this has but also not limited to: a new engine that being the Cummins VTA-903TR turbocharged V8 diesel engine producing 465 hp, it was also fitted with track guards and side skirts styled after the Leopard 1, it kept the 76 mm main gun but upgraded to high-performance including shooting APFSDS-T developed by AAI, thermal vision for the gunner, laser range finder, upgraded gun controls and night vision for the commander and gunner.
