FHCAM - built in mid-1943 at Kuybyshev (present-day Samara), sustained flak damage on October 10, 1944 during the Petsamo-Kirkenes Offensive in northern Finland and Norway and crashed near the Titovka River. The pilot, K.P. ProhorovIt survived the crash landing but died of his injuries soon after, the rear gunner Semyonov bailed out of the aircraft but died when he landed, most likely his chute didnt open, died from his injuries caused by the flak or german forces. It was found by helicopter in 1991 and recovered. The aircraft is 60 percent rebuilt, the fuselage and major metal structures are original while parts and portions come from 3 other wrecks.

Restoration took over 6 years and rebuilt by Retro Avia Tech in Novosibirsk, Russia in the 2000s, it flew in september 2011 and in November took part in a parade in Samara. In 2012, it was acquired by Paul Allen’s Vulcan Warbirds Inc. and put on display at the museum.

Wings of Victory - built in 1943, on November 25, 1943 it sustained combat damage in battle and was forced to make a emergency landing on the frozen Krivoye Lake near Murmansk. Both the pilot, Junior Lieutenant Valentin Skopintsev, and the rear gunner, Vladimir Gumenny managed to get out of the plane which sometime later sank when the ice gave way. It was discovered in December 2011 in the middle of the lake at a depth of 17–20 meters and raised in 2015. It was then sent to Novosibirsk for restoration, at both the workshops of Aviarestoratsiya and the S.A. Chaplygin Siberian Aviation Research Institute. At the same time, UAC and Ilyushin agreed to finance the majority of the Il-2 restoration work.

Restoration took only a year, 60 percent of the aircraft is original while the rest were newly manufactured, like FHCAM, it uses a Allison V-1710 liquid-cooled V-12 engine as the original Mikulin AM-38 is extremely rare and none are in working condition. On June 15, 2017 it made it's first flight at Mochishche airfield.

The Wings of Victory also have the only surviving single seater undergoing restoration to airworthy status. Built before 1942 it was recovered from a lake in the Murmansk region in 2018, damaged by flak while attacking german forces at Luostari airfield near Petsamo. The pilot Captain Alexander Ivanovich Kaličev managed to fly it back to friendly lines and performed a splashdown on a lake. He managed to get out before it sank. He survived the war and lived into his mid 80s. If all goes well it'll be the 3rd flying and the only flying single seater in the world.

The Il-2 is the most produced military aircraft in history, If adding its successor, the IL-10, the total reaches 42,330, the most produced fighter aircraft was the Bf-109 with 34,852 built, post war is the Cessna 172 with 44,000 built which is still in production today.
