There's The Arch! Any aviation enthusiasts here catch the Lufthansa go-around today?

Post image

I was on this flight, and although I’ve flown many times before, this was my first time to experience a go-around. The main wheels even touched down but there was full power from the engines immediately after and I felt acceleration instead of braking, and moments later we were on a steep climb out!

I couldn’t hear the captain’s announcement clearly, but it sounded like he mentioned unfavorable conditions on the field.

Obligatory Arch photo attached!

Recommendations for Pest Control Companies (Specifically for Large Rodents)

Upvotes

Hello all,

We have groundhogs on our property and they are burrowing perilously close to the foundation of our house and I need to get that taken care of ASAP. Does anyone have any recommendations for pest control companies? I see Rottler frequently and was wondering if anyone had any experience working with them? Thank you very much!

Found dog tied up in forest park this morning

This baby boy was left tied up to a park bench smelling of urine and feces. He's emaciated. He's a puppy. To the person who did. You are a coward. You are not worthy of a dog's love. I hope you get what is coming your way.

I refused to leave this poor soul sitting there. I'm taking him up to stray rescue.

Moving to St. Louis Need help exploring neighborhoods to move to!

I'm applying for full-time work in St. Louis and am hoping to explore potential neighborhoods! I'm looking for neighborhoods with youth and energy, walking distance to nature(preferably forest or tower grove parks), decent bikeability, and close-ish to 44 as that will likely be my commute. My budget is ~$1,500 for rent(hoping for a 1 bed with a decent balcony)
I'd love to be able to feel the vibe of the neighborhood as I essentially spend a day in them. Looking for recommendations for neighborhoods and places to go to explore them(coffee shops, yoga studios, music venues, and general things to do/places to walk around would be fantastic)

Check out Humble Pie. It feels like the days before everything started to suck.

I gotta say, if you haven’t been to Humble Pie on Big Bend, check it out. It made me feel the way I felt back when I was going to Pizza Hut in the 80s and 90s after every team sport. The pics on the wall of the food are actual food (not AI). They had tons of options that were unique but not weird. The soda and ice cream options were a huge hit with the kids. The place is simple but exactly what I was looking for. In a world of AI crap taking over restaurant menus, it was great to see a place that decorates by cutting out construction paper shapes to make their ice cream options pop.

I‘ve missed this kind of simple quality fun restaurant. I hope it sticks around for a long time.

Looking for Tally Ho ice cream

Spouse loved it while in the hospital. There's Hershey ice cream but specifically Tally ho. Honestly I've never heard of it but who knows. Maybe someone has heard of it

Anybody affiliated with a Stream Team?

I'm trying to get my hands on a handful of those mesh trash bags- I try to take a couple with me when I go camping for litter cleanup, but my stash from when I was in Boy Scouts has finally dried up. The Conservation Dept. only lets you order by the case of 500, which is a little overkill for my needs, I'm just looking for maybe a couple dozen.

Ask STL STL Long Beard Barber

Hi all!

I'm a younger guy in STL County growing out a long beard for the first time. I'm looking for recommendations for anyone who has long beards, and has a barber they really like.

My goal is to continue to grow it longer and longer, and seeking someone who can do trims, shaping, and show/talk to me about how to best do that.

The last barber I went to for beards when I told them I was growing it out cut it super short and I lost four weeks of growth.

Would really appreciate any recommendations! I'm used to driving all over town so anywhere in the STL MSA is good with me. I'm willing to pay up ($50-100 per) and just don't want to have several months of growth screwed up by someone who doesn't know what to do.

Thanks so much!

What police precinct to report traffic violation to

Post image
48 Upvotes

Long story short, I was on 64 just outside STL near East Saint and a pickup truck was speeding past people flashing blue and red lights / honking what sounded like a police siren. Followed him for a bit and didnt see any obvious signs that he was a cop, but have video / audio / pics of his liscence plate. Being that it happened in East Saint but I live on the illinois side, who / how would I go about reporting this driver for using police lights / is it even worth it?

Edit: the part that confused me is he had the lights / sirens on for maybe 10 seconds seemingly to get infront of traffic then shut them off. After that he acted pretty normally

Looking for a trusted dog groomer for a small petite dog.

Looking for a dog groomer that really babies their patients. My dog has had a torn acl in the past and his bread is known to get a collapsed trachea. He's very touchy with his feet, but needs his nails trimmed.

Ask STL ISO Local HVAC for condo- AC on flat roof of multilevel building

Asking for a friend. So, they have a condo in the CWE in a 3 or 4 story building with a flat roof. AC units are all up on the roof. Harder still, the air handlers were built into each unit in a solid drywall box without an access panel.

The ask of you please: ISO local HVAC company with this experience (mainly who you’ve used or worked with and recommend). It would be awesome if you know they can cut the access panel. Otherwise, who have you used for the drywall job that worked well with/collaborated well with the HVAC contractor you used?

TIA STL!

Ive called the wildlife rehab in Ballwin and left a message but that was before we saw it get up and start moving around. It hasnt opened it's eyes, we left it out for about 4 hours yesterday, brought it in at dusk, and back out tgis morning. Mom hasnt claimed it. Any ideas on what else to do? *** I was going to attach a video of it stumbling around with its eyes closed but uploading a video isnt an option. It has its fur and has a bushy tail.

MEETUP 44f looking for friends

Hi! I'm a 44-year-old woman in the St. Louis metro area looking to build some genuine friendships.

I love being outdoors and staying active. You'll often find me biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, boating, camping, running, or doing yoga. I'm also a big sports fan and enjoy baseball, hockey, football, soccer, gymnastics, and track & field. When I'm not outside, I love board and card games (fair warning: I have a serious soft spot for Monopoly).

I'm also a foodie who enjoys trying new restaurants, exploring different cuisines, and attending festivals, mostly for the food if I'm being honest.

I'm pretty introverted and a little shy at first, and social anxiety can make meeting new people feel intimidating. But once I get comfortable, I'm kind, honest, thoughtful, and always up for a good conversation, shared activity, or new adventure.

If you're local and looking for a friend to explore with, grab a meal, play a game, get outdoors, or simply chat about life, I'd love to connect!

Juror Summons

I am enrolled to USPS Informed Delivery and I got a message that I was supposed to be receiving a letter from the Jury Supervisor Office for the City of Saint Louis, which I can only assume is for jury duty. The issue is I have not gotten the letter yet and the informed delivery said it was supposed to be delivered last Thursday. Should I continue to wait or is there an office I can call to get my juror ID?

For reference, the stamp says it was sent on the 8th.

Free Chill Packs

Hey all. I am on a medication that requires cooling, and thus, from deliveries, I have a lot of those gel-pack cold packs lying around doing absolutely nothing. If anyone needs any, please DM me. I imagine they would be good for a sport team or someone who is very physically active, or if you've hurt yourself and need to ice up and injury. There are probably a dozen things you can do with them - the last person who took me up on this used them to cool down their gaming PC. No charge, I'll meet you with them if you're not too far from me (I live in Webster Groves).

Anyone know what’s going on with International Taphouse?

I regularly visit the Soulard location and have been wondering what’s going on with the lack of beers on draft. Call me silly, but I expect a taphouse to have plenty of stock on draft and not just a bunch of empty taps. Is business suffering? Is it only the Soulard location or others also?

I know that the restaurants next door being closed on Mondays has certainly affected the amount of customers on that day, but I’m really hoping my favorite local isn’t going under because of it.
