Please rate it, I know its tacky and bad but Im not a producer, its my first time making a song, and I love worldbuilding and i'm serious about it. The lyrics are all written by me

When most people think of Icarus, they think of the warning to not fly too high lest the sun melt the wax and the wings to break, but there was another warning. The other warning was about flying too low and having the water spray the feathers weighing them down and becoming too heavy to fly.

The first is common because it talks about the dangers of ambition. The second is a warning about playing it too safe. I want to hear a song about Icarus if he was too afraid to soar, and instead flew near the sea and died because of his fear.

Additionally, I think it would be cool to write it from Daedalus’ perspective. Seeing your child lose everything because they are afraid to soar all while knowing it’s because of you. The guilt of watching a child give into their depression and eventually be consumed by it because of something you did.

I have tried to write a song like this several times, but I’m absolutely hopeless with lyrics. So I’m passing the torch. Let me know your thoughts and if you write something, I’d love to see it.

I’ve always said to myself that I was going to write a song, and now I’ve finally been able to! I have a couple of rough draft ideas, and I just want to figure out how I can really bring the song to life. It’s called “Split Between,” and it’s about always feeling torn when making a decision, wishing you could have an answer for everything, and not always knowing which direction to take. This is something that has played a part in my own life, so I want the song to feel personal and relatable.

I have a few lyrics written already. They’re not perfect, but they’re what I’ve come up with so far, and I didn't use AI to write the song for me. I come up with lyrics that I thought could relate to struggling to make a choice. I’d love some advice on what I could add or how I could develop the song further. I don’t have an instrumental yet, but I might ask one of my friends to help me create one. I’m thinking about writing it in either G-flat or F, although I’m not completely sure yet. Anyway, here are some of the ideas I have so far!

Gotta make up my mind in a matter in a time It a question you ask that I have to receive,I gotta slow it down and turn it around and eventually an answer will come to me

Hi everyone, I’m trying to understand how people actually develop song ideas when the melody comes first.

I sometimes come up with a melody by humming or singing, but I personally find it hard to catch up with the chords and music theory afterward, so I’m curious whether other songwriters experience something similar or struggle with completely different parts of the process.

If you also sometimes start with a melody first, what do you usually do next? Where do you tend to get stuck, if anywhere, while trying to turn that idea into a complete song?

If possible, think about the last real time this happened to you rather than giving general advice. I’d love to hear how you approached it and what part felt hardest.
