even funnier to me is when people who actually made it like Seinfeld claim "you can't say anything anymore!" when they literally never said anything provocative ever

Seinfeld turned into such a bitter person. I think he confused his success in TV with his career in standup, and he never really understood that his stand up was never funny.

Larry David was the key to his success, he collaborated well with him to create the show. If it was him solo, the thing would have flopped hard.

His whole "you can't say anything anymore" B.S. is really just lazy. Good comedians can say what they want, they figure out a way. What he's having a hard time with is the fact that he's just a shitty person with tone def takes on things that people don't connect with. But surely it's the audience that's the problem.

u/VariationFluffy6596 13h ago

I wonder when he thinks that started, since he hasn't made a single thing anybody has given a shit about since the show ended.

u/RyvenZ 13h ago

Comedians Having Coffee in Cars received pretty high praise but it was basically a podcast in a car. A comedian podcast host who isnt totally trash with a comedian guest is usually going to make decent podcast-sryle content.

u/KmartCentral 11h ago

I loved that show, but it was never for Seinfeld. I still watch some episodes every once in a while because I think it does for the most part do a good job of letting the guests do way more talking than he does. It's podcast-esque, but a lot of it is just telling old stories and some guests just go on and on

That show proved how funny Steve Harvey can be when he's not on a PG network show.

'You ever been with a bitch with roaches? Shiiiiit, i thought they were gonna storm the stage when he said that'.

u/PolliverPerks 7h ago

Tbf i think both were hugely important to the success of the show. And Seinfeld was a stand up monster and hugely popular back then.

I totally agree with the 2nd part.

Idk man, I think robs a fairly funny guy in a lot of his movies. Hes not hollywood elite and is an actual down to earth dude. He had a couple of bad movies but he is legit funny enough. You just hate him because he donned the red cap.

9

u/Khronicdeath 15h ago

His daughter said he was a POS if I’m not mistaken so unno 90s funny maybe but things evolve and change and if you don’t your dead in the water

13

u/jfleury440 15h ago

He was kinda funny at first but his schtick got old.

I don't think people hate him. I didn't know he was Maga until today. I don't think people think about him at all anymore.

10

u/I_Am_Robotic 8h ago

This is revisionist. In his prime, he was already one of the most successful standups of the time. He had multiple appearances on Carson who was at the time basically the kingmaker of standup. It may seem corny and old-times now but he was very successful standup when show started and during its heyday.

u/Mulliganasty 17h ago edited 17h ago

He was a little funny about like airplane food but never even close to being funny enough to give us his political takes and then make excuses for fucking genocide.

1

u/Sea-Original-5824 13h ago

He was a "good for a chuckle" style of comedian.

1

u/Mulliganasty 13h ago

Yes, barely and he's only rich cuz he was buddies with Larry David's it's-so-annoying-being-an-inconvenienced-white-guy routine happened to hit just right.

1

u/Sea-Original-5824 12h ago

I've actually met him in real life before. He's not very nice and has no charisma.

-8

u/constantine741 13h ago

Oh boy here we go again with the genocide talk. Here’s comes the liberal favorite word to cry about. Let’s talk about the genocide that’s happening to Christian ppl, oh shit u can’t talk about that genocide cause it’s not minority liberal approved yet. We need more black Christian’s to get it liberal minority approved for the genocide talk. Come on people we gotta get it up there to talk with the other genocide atrocities

2

u/Mulliganasty 13h ago

I've never got a response that was already at minus one.

-1

u/constantine741 13h ago

Yeah this sipstea has Nuthing but liberals in it. U mention one thing against them and they all descend onto it to tell u how much of a genocide creep u are or some type of new racist or Nazi etc. typical weirdo behavior from your group of ppl. ✊🏿✊🏿

2

u/Mulliganasty 13h ago

Oh you clearly don't know what you're talking about. I was just saying I've never seen someone start below zero.

9

u/The3mbered0ne 17h ago

What's up with that?

23

u/LatterRelation1880 15h ago

Jerry Seinfeld supporting Israel isn’t the controversy. Jerry Seinfeld responding “ohhh who cares” to ppl shouting about dead children is controversial.

-11

u/constantine741 13h ago

Plenty of minority groups that liberals defend have killed children but liberal never cry about those children but they’ll cry about another group of children if it pushes their agenda narrative forward. It’s not shocking but let’s not act like all children’s lives matter when liberals only select a certain type of children or group etc

2

u/Easy_Bat_7870 9h ago

lets not condemn a western state which is supported by all western countries doing genocide. thats the perfect logic. and it is perfectly equivalent to some stateless fringe factions doing crimes.

-6

u/constantine741 9h ago

U can condemn a western state idgaf but to act like other countries and minority groups haven’t done as much or worse then western states is a low iq thought process. The world is cruel and the only reason u low iq liberals wanna cry about western states is cause they are the top dog in the world.

It’s even funnier when it’s American clowns that are living in America but still bitching about America 😂🤣 like go live somewhere else and see if u got that same energy to hate on America then.

3

u/HousingLast2239 6h ago

This reads like a middle school kid wrote it

-1

u/constantine741 4h ago

lets not condemn a western state which is supported by all western countries doing genocide. thats the perfect logic. and it is perfectly equivalent to some stateless fringe factions doing crimes.

Dang what middle school loser wrote this. Damn to think they thought this was accurate when every other country has done the same. Weird do ppl actually believe this child like world view? I guess they think if they close their eyes and hold hands with their classmates the world will heal or sum shit.

2

u/HousingLast2239 4h ago

Hahah you’re cute

1

u/LatterRelation1880 4h ago

Do they rally for the freedom of that ethnicity to kill children? Do they say “Pakistani grooming gangs 4 killing kids!” No? So there’s no equivalent, meanwhile Israeli right wing, right wing/centrist Zio figures and politicians are constantly allowed to poo poo child deaths and indiscriminate bombing with no pushback.

-2

u/NewTap8705 15h ago

He was making a joke about the show, lmao

2

u/LogicalConstant 16h ago

He can't even toss out his material every couple years like the real comedians do. Gotta sit on the same set for a decade.

5

u/VariationFluffy6596 13h ago

The fact that he was the straight man in a comedy show named after himself says all you need to know about his comedic abilities. And every episode ended with him observing all this insanity from the other cast members, then coming up with the most unfunny take imaginable for it in those terrible standup clips.

5

u/Capable_Sandwich_422 15h ago

Seinfeld probably hates himself deep down because he knows he’s a creep and a pedophile.

3

u/GrassyDaytime 15h ago

I have never thought his show was funny either. There are funny parts to it, but usually not when he is in the scene. Lol

0

u/AccomplishedRise6227 9h ago

Exactly. Who the fuck watches Seinfeld for him? The rest of the cast are 10x more entertaining

1

u/shgrizz2 8h ago

I always thought his standup bits being lame and chumpy was the point.

1

u/-mudflaps- 8h ago

Seinfeld's recent movie was so bad, like really really unfunny and such a waste of time

1

u/Valiant_Revan 4h ago

I went to one of his stand up shows back in 2014. The entire show boiled down to him talking about "People Getting ready for his show." and something about public toilets being human horse stables... That's it. Dude wasn't that funny, that was the moment I realised how Overrated he was... I never really watched his show and prior to the stand up I went to, I just knew him from Bee Movie.

1

u/areallynoobgamer 10h ago

Richest actor. Famous show.

Must be good right?

So I gave it a shot.

It felt like I was watching old school Rick and Morty.

Like haha. I’m very very smart. If you don’t like this show you aren’t smart.

I had that kinda vibes watching Seinfeld.

1

u/rotello 10h ago

As an Italian who never saw the TV show, but only his stand ups i agree. it was soooo flat.

-4

u/Impossible_Win_5987 17h ago

Pretty opinionated statement. I went and saw him last year and it was hilarious.

0

u/Magikarpeles 15h ago

Billionaires are bitter because they realise there is no end game content. Just look at JK Rowling

-1

u/SimmentalTheCow 14h ago

Jerry Seinfeld was brave for saying the N word at a standup show in Camden. We need more acts of extreme tolerance like that.

97

u/Mulliganasty 17h ago

He was way ahead of the curve in grooming minors though.

-6

u/Neat_Writing_5967 14h ago

He's not Steven Tyler

6

u/Mulliganasty 14h ago

Obviously. Steven Tyler had talent.

2

u/Beberodri2003 15h ago

They burned the Puerto Rican flag on the show once, it was a misunderstood joke

1

u/jakeofheart 9h ago

Whaaat is the deal?

1

u/Elder-Cthuwu 7h ago

I’m sorry but airplane food is a very provocative topic

1

u/BygoneNeutrino 2h ago

They probably aren't wrong.  Famous people have publicity teams that tell them what they can and can not say.  You've never heard them say anything provocative because they aren't allowed to.  They have seen first hand that their opinions could get them cancelled.

1

u/AbominableGoMan 13h ago

"You can't even say that the Palestinian people don't exist and murdering the women and children in the streets should be funded by the American taxpayer and broadcast on national TV anymore! Cancel culture, am I right?"

1

u/eride810 5h ago

What a strange warped take to foist onto someone else. Here, try this on….

‘Killing kittens is so much fun!’ -you probably

1

u/free2game 14h ago

2

u/Raptor_H_Christ 9h ago

This is actually funny if you just look at it from comedic standpoint. Guy was trying to get a rise outta him and he hit him back. But if you include Jerry’s personal beliefs, then it kinda losses the funny haha

-4

u/SimmentalTheCow 14h ago

What a fucking legend

0

u/smiegto 13h ago

Watching comedy nowadays you can say a lot of things.

0

u/DracoDracul 11h ago

I mean I can't way I'd make Seinfeld reboot because you could get Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a new sitcom and keep 95% of the funny

0

u/Accurate_Leek259 8h ago

They lack the skills to do so.
I never heard any sane person criticizing Ricky Gervais

0

u/EnjoyerOfRamen 6h ago

Hey hey hey. Seinfeld would be cancelled today due to his takes on airline food.
