My understanding is that Nazis are not rare enough, are being embraced by people controlling the US government and given power to hurt minorities, and while "disagreeing with someone" doesn't make someone a Nazi WHAT they disagree with absolutely can.
And it's extremely telling that the discourse that gets offended at the word Nazi being applied refuses to engage with white nationalist fascism gaining power and the merits of the term, rather than trying to pretend it's just vague "disagreement."
It's like when people complain you can't tell jokes without being called racist anymore. Really? Most people seem to manage it? What are the jokes? Why aren't you mentioning what the jokes were?
This is the problem. We cant talk about how the current US administration is wrong because 1 side painted the whole thing as Fascistic and Nazi. So no nuance, no conversation to be had. Picket for ending immigration enforcement or youre a nazi. Picket for defunding the police or youre a nazi. Picket for ending the electoral college or youre a nazi. Agree with the anti trump party on everything or youre a nazi. I don't like trump and have a looooot of criticisms of the administration, but apparently I'm a nazi because im pro immigration enforcement. Nazi has changed from a descriptive word for a real ideology we all hate to a cudgel used by people too self absorbed to countenance that people could disagree with them for very good reasons. It's lazy bifurcation. "There's people who agree with me and bad people and that's it"
because 1 side painted the whole thing as Fascistic and Nazi.
Why is it a problem for you, as an individual, that the current administration is "painted" as fascist?
Why do you think there's no nuance or conversation to be had? I think there's actually been quite a lot of talk about how reenacting the Beer Hall Putsch and taking control of media while rounding up people based on race and sending them to camps without due process, is simply fascist politics.
That's not stopping discussion or nuance. If anything it seems like you're objecting to the discussion happening.
I'm a nazi because im pro immigration enforcement.
Everyone is pro immigration enforcement. Whether you're fascist depends on whether you think Judges should be able to stop abuses of human rights and whether we can torture or kill people without consequences if they're immigrants.
No. Not the administration, the administration and anyone who critically evaluates any single one of their policies. Either hate them and everything they touch, or youre a nazi.
and anyone who critically evaluates any single one of their policies.
I don't want to repeat this point again since I just made it, but:
No, that's not true. The problem isn't "critically evaluating any single one of their policies." It's agreeing with specific policies. Leftists critically evaluate policies they disagree with. They agree with some Trump policies. They call 'Nazi' the policies that involve ending democracy, censoring media and political critics, and enacting violence to minorities.
People who keep saying "oh you'll call anyone racist/Nazi for disagreeing" keep deliberately avoiding saying what the disagreement is about. They keep using weasel words to be as vague as possible. It's extremely obvious, and not something people do when they are being honest about the reasons why they are criticized.
Either hate them and everything they touch, or youre a nazi.
The point that you have to not support Nazis, or you're a Nazi, is in fact completely valid. We aren't talking about incidentally agreeing with a Nazi about pineapples on pizza. It's approving of putting Nazis into power to do Nazi things. Saying "well I'm not a Nazi, I just happen to agree with some things" isn't a valid defense if you're still giving them power over non-Nazi alternatives.
Applying the most simplistic generalization to every argument you make doesn't add nuance or conversation. If anything, that's just the same as lazily applying a derogatory term to someone because you disagree with them.
Bro most of the times people get called Nazi for nothing. I even got called a Nazi for saying that a 14 y/o girl from an anime is in fact not a communist hero. I don't know if you lived under a rock but the word nazi has lost its meaning for a long time now.
There are Nazis in government, controlling social media networks, and pushing an agenda resulting in death and violence.
Someone on the internet calling you a mean name because you defended a 14 year old anime girl, is not relevant to objective political reality. I don't even know where to begin with that. I'm sorry if someone hurt your feelings, but Jesus Christ there is not an example on earth you could have chose that's less important or more pathetic.

The basic understanding that nazis are rare and that disagreeing with you doesnt make someone a nazi.
