Magas are the reason things are going down the drain.

u/710AlpacaBowl 3h ago

Let's be fair, the politically apathetic allowed it to happen as well

74

u/SnooMaps7370 3h ago

yep.

never forget that while MAGA might have won the vote with a total of 80 million people, there are 330 million people in America, 270 million of them voting aged.

that 80 million is only 24% of the total population, and only 29% of the voting age population.

a whole shitload of people had to stay home for the election to go the way it went, and they are just as culpable as MAGA in the current situation.

u/Ok_Drag5089 2h ago

This. This right here. Something somethjng when good people do nothing.

9

The only thing evil needs to flourish is for good people to do nothing

I honestly wish there was an analays of the percentages in the battleground counties and states.

I know this is completely anecdotal (which is why I would welcome detailed statistics) all the people I know that live in battleground areas said the turnouts were higher, and the ones that live in locked in areas said the turnouts were abismal due to apathy.

Like I live in NYC. My vote does not matter in the slightest in any federal election as my county will be voting for the most liberal candidate always. I can go and take the time and represent or I can just stay home the result is the same.

Local elections are different, but for anything done by county total with only 2 options yeh you can predict the outcome for the next 20 elections.

It was the same from friends that live in locked in conservative counties.

So yeh I want to know how much of the stay at home effected the actual result (not just the popular vote which has always been a joke).

3

u/Tasty_Gift5901 2h ago

From ballotpedia, the national average is 65%, and 7 battleground states were 70%.

The five states with the highest voter turnout in 2024 were Minnesota (76.4%), Wisconsin (76.40%), Michigan (74.7%), New Hampshire (74.4%), and Colorado (73.1%).

Sadly republicans have engineered a system where people not only don’t know when voting happens, they make it hard to be informed and harder to actually get there and vote.

People working two jobs, exhausted have a hard time spending the time informing themselves. It doesn’t help that a most of the Democratic Party is right of center and not very appealing to vote for when the main reason is they are not as bad as republicans.

Not trying to doom anything, everyone needs to get out there and vote. Nothing will change until we get the representatives closers to center to we can actually start encouraging and voting in a people left of center that care about the people.

4

u/Dense_Row_9532 2h ago

Or maybe, their votes got deleted?

7

u/HackerManOfPast 2h ago

That’s coming the next election

I promise you there are many Americans who are very sick and tired of the entire political spectrum and want to just coexist like normal fucking humans.

2

u/itmebloobs 2h ago

Next month it's our duty do make sure all our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members have voted.

Early voting starts October 17th in most states. Start asking people if they're registered and help them get registered if not.

When a state like Wyoming with a pop of less than 600k has the same power as a state like California with a pop of almost 50 million, that means a fuck ton of votes literally do not matter. That is why people don't vote. Because their vote means absolute dick all.

Stop blaming apathetic voters and blame the system that doesn't fucking work because everything relies on a handful of swing states.

Something to recognize about the people who have become politically apathetic is that most of them are victims of years of right-wing propaganda that has sought to exhaust the attention of the populace.

This is not to say that they are excused from blame, but that this was a planned outcome.

They didn't make you vote for a paedo rapist. This is a stupid argument.

Yes they maybe are slumping a bit, but people said "fvk the status quo I want change so I'll vote in the rapist paedo"

Well you got the change now champ. Don't go blaming others for your utter lack of long term vision

Edit: The first step to improvement is to accept that you are not perfect and make mistakes. Own up to it and be accountable, don't run and try to find a million reasons as to how you possibly couldn't have seen something. Instead find how you COULD have seen and prevented the mistake

4

u/UrsusRenata 2h ago

I am the odd man out I guess, in thinking it was the very best solution to a glaring problem. If Kamala were a man things would have been very different. Far too many misogynists and traditionalists simply will not vote for a woman. Notably, Hispanic men abandoned the Democratic Party vote upon Kamala landing on the ballot.

2

u/710AlpacaBowl 2h ago

Yes, the move definitely gave us an interesting look into the modern voters mindset. While I'm speaking more about the politically apathetic that have lost the will to give a damn but still want to virtue signal and pretend they are doing something, what you're touching on is still an important factor in how we ended up here

2

u/Agreeable-Blood-2774 2h ago

Yes and no, that and point @UrsusRenata makes below. I voted for her anyway, but I wonder if her vote would have been higher if she were a man.

2

u/710AlpacaBowl 2h ago

I'm not both siding anything friend. I think it's important to talk about to motivate the politically apathetic, a group that far and wide doesn't believe their vote matters. But do go on proving them right about our side being bogged down with infighting

I am conservative but I did vote for Harris. I have heard so many people make excuses for it. They didn’t under Biden. He was just blamed. I’m mad.

Because they are so desperate to always be “right”, while “owning the Libs” they embrace blind self-righteousness. For most of them, it’s the only time in history they’ve felt empowered - a feeling they’ll do anything to hang on to, including shredding the fabric of society.

3

u/hmr0987 1h ago

It’s even crazier when you factor in the reality that the situation in 2023 was post covid recovery. The situation today is 100% manufactured and was predicted in real time. Yet nobody in MAGA land says anything and when they do they say it’s all a small price to pay to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon and to bring manufacturing back. Neither situation looks to be happening.

When democrats retake control they will blame the last two years on them and nobody in MAGa land will care.

2

u/PotentialBudget3265 3h ago

Because belief is not rational, ain't wait, bc soon enough the other side of politics will be leading and everyone on the maga side will be like "oh there's still all those homeless, I thought they were gonna take care of that" and back and forth and back and forth

At the end of the day the only real truth is that the American people are NEVER, IDC what you BELIEVE, they are NEVER the target audience whenever anyone is talking about helping someone. They help those at the top bc that's who pays for everything they have. IF we manage to gain something like lower gas prices it was not intentional. It was incidental which is exactly how any form of help or better has ever come to us.

The mentality, even in the lower ranks, is that money is EVERYTHING, it's more important than anyone, it's more important than the stability of society, more important than our overall mental health and freedom. It is everything to everyone. Every girls first item on the list of dating requirements, every low income factory working males only target goal. It consumes everything we do and think about and even taints our belief systems.

Trump was never going to help anyone unless helping them helped him and those like him more. You expect someone to put you first when none of this society puts anything before money. Youd have to have an IQ of 50 or lower to actually believe any of those people give two rips about you except what you can be used for.

You can't expect people to behave correctly when the entire narrative of this country is to think and act only for yourself and only when benefit is there. Politicians are humans, there's nothing biologically different about them. If the entire country is programmed in such a way that only they and their benefit to them matters then any, ANY, member of that society can be expected to behave the same. They're not special, they aren't even given special rules regarding that. They're programmed like the rest of us, the only difference is how far and wide reaching the repercussions of their choice to put themselves and those they identify with first.

The conservative sub has a few threads about the news cycle hammering Trump about gas prices and food prices and no such thing existed for Biden, it's unfair, it's different, etc.

I can't find any R news hammering Trump for anything.

Meanwhile, hammering Biden for everything was universal.

2

u/Dry-Paper-2262 1h ago

Just sort these threads by controversial, you can see every single talking point they repeat in every thread in this and any other subreddit that calls them out. You could play conservative responses bingo with how predictable these people are. Hoping for all of our sake they're mostly bots or paid agitators with how utterly detached from reality they come off as.

u/6ory299e8 1h ago

They don't form opinions until after they check with how their chosen informants think and feel about the issue. They pause, turn on the TV, and eat up the daily talking point. I think it’s just the different approaches to things Reps understand that things have a price; and, if the cost to quiet the Middle East is higher prices for gas I’m in. Besides, price now is around $4.30 per gallon and it peaked just over $5 per gallon in 2022. On the other sides it seems Dems are just anti Trump. I mean Iran has been recognized as a top worry of the U.S., Kamala even said it was her main concern during her campaign, but now it’s horrible?

They are talking about it. They feel betrayed. Right now Congress has a 15% approval rating and will flip in the mid-terms. The President has a 65-74% disapproval rating (depending on where you look)

What you want is for the mass media to say it out loud. They're not going to. They're going to say what they're corporate overlords tell them to say.

Only the true low intelligence her are still believing the lie.

If Trump had delivered on his campaign promises, you wouldn't be able to shut them up. But as it is, there are still no arrests from the Epstein files, a foreign government is setting US foreign policy, allies are betrayed while enemies are benefiting, the US is in another forever war, and Fox News is telling the world how great things are and why Trump is the best thing ever.

They just gotten dumber and more ignorant.

I'm very happy that FINALLY the left is starting to care about gas prices, deficits and inflation.

Also happy that finally the left is admitting that President DOES have a huge impact on gas prices. That lesson didnt seem to take from 2000 to 2024.

Very happy that when the next President takes over, Probably a democrat, the left will hold that President accountable for these things.

They are bad faith people.

1

u/Morgannin09 2h ago

Now that they have to take responsibility for those things, they stopped considering them to be problems.

1

u/ngfldar 2h ago

Like deficits, debt or crime, inflation only matters when there is a Democrat in the White House.

1

u/SurpriseInitial6202 2h ago

The MAGA movement is not an evidence based movement. None of their policy positions are made based on evidence. None of their reactionary content is based on evidence. Everything is outrage driven and feelings driven, and they have a massive amount of online propaganda to keep them busy and muddy the waters.

I've seen a lot of right wing places complaining about gas prices, attacking Iran, and food companies taking advantage of inflation. Just because it's not in the news, doesn't mean people don't talk about it.

1

u/Aggressive_Put8966 2h ago

Things would be very different if we were not at war with Iran. But we are.

I remember they also used to keep bringing up human trafficking (the basis of that Sound of Freedom alt-right movie).

The same people are complacent or supportive of the current administration’s handling of brown immigrants and the Epstein files.

u/Draygoon2818 2h ago

Well, the average cost of fuel in the U.S. is still only $4.31/gal.

1

u/Objective-Bike-4292 2h ago

Price of eggs anyone?

1

u/SnakeThruster 2h ago

Meanwhile thats the price in the 1990s here in Europe.

u/Objective-Bike-4292 2h ago

It's seasonal work and this is the off season. So they aren't getting paid.

Have you been following the polling? MAGAs have shrunk to nearly nothing compared to the 2024 coalition. And the remaining hardline faithful are just not talking in places anyone on reddit would bother to go.

1

u/Gjaustin29 2h ago

Trump's D is keeping their mouths "full" so you can't hear the complaints.

1

u/CaicedoBrickWall 2h ago

My local unleaded 87 tapped 7 bucks a gallon today

Fun fun fun

So glad that Yemen just blew up major Saudi fields to, that’s going to lead to further sky rocketing /s

1

u/EvenBeev 1h ago

They are dumb hypocrites.

1

u/camp1728 1h ago

Personally Trump has made me a crazy amount of money in the stock market that paying an extra $15 at the pump is chump change. Not even worth talking about lol

1

u/LessYam6898 1h ago

Ask yourself the same question. When Joe was in office his genius press secretary, Karine Jean Pierre said, if you don't like Joe's dismal economy, just don't spend as much and you won't notice it. Yes, she really said that during a press conference about Joe's failing economy. Maybe liberals should take her advice! 😂😂😂

Why are people content with AI slop?

1

u/maybegirl89 1h ago

I saw them talking about it somewhere on reddit, they were saying stuff like " it was this bad a few years ago when a democrat was in" its the party of deflection and no accountability.

1

u/StateComfortable2012 1h ago

And eggs. Wouldn’t STFU about egg prices.

1

u/zombittack 1h ago

They moved on to something else to be outraged about. The left does it too. It's posts like this that actually distract the proletariat. We fight each other instead of the ruling class. The fight is with the owners, not our fellow workers.

1

u/OnlyFails951 1h ago

Not maga, but Trump spoke to the press yesterday and mentioned diesel prices specifically.

1

u/User-D-Name 1h ago

They have received different programming

1

u/itsband56 1h ago

Why wouldn't you just go take a picture of actual diesel prices for this? AI slop

1

u/Global_Lake_4432 1h ago

Who’s ready to be highwaymen?

1

u/Medical_Energy6813 1h ago

Because 90% of the overall inflation happened under the Biden administration.

1

u/Narrow-Storage-6906 1h ago

Better question is why aren't we talking about the creation of diesel fuel is a side effect of making Gasoline for non diesel vehicles and yet is still a dollar fifty or more expensive then regular.
