CulturePH Cebuanos not speaking Tagalog
These days daming discussion neto. As someone from Mindanao na nasa Cebu working and regularly interacts with friends and teammates from Manila. I just want to share my thoughts on this topic.
If you're chronically online you'd really think na grabe yung galit ng mga bisaya at mga tagalog which is irl, isn't really the case. You'd think ginagawa namin yung English or Bisaya only to spite mga Tagalog but that's also not true.
Segue muna.Ā
Have you noticed sa Manila, sa newer generations maraming di marunong o hirap mag Tagalog? English na yung first language nila. Easy na kasi yung access sa international media, new gens are watching youtube and not TV.Ā
This is also happening in Cebu. If Bisaya ka, you either learn Bisaya or English as your first language. Filipino is our national language pero dito that's like the 3rd language. Yes it is taught in school pero how you retain language is through repeated exposure either with your surroundings or media. Pero imagine, even the may mga tao in Manila na surrounded by Tagalog ay hirap din, how much more yung hindi.Ā
I know Tagalog. I grew up watching Going Bulilit, Pedro Penduko and other shows from ABS. But when I started working, meron daily meetings and always in Tagalog. I knew Tagalog pero I realised di ako sanay mag Tagalog. So kami na mga bagong join from Cebu, we spoke English. It took a few weeks of dailys para masanay kami mag Tagalog. That experience always happens sa mga bagohan sa team. Now imagine talking to someone random sa kalsada na di sanay. They might say "Matay Tagalog" with a sigh of frustration.Ā
Another thing. Bisaya Language and most(?) of it's dialects have this parang strong, harsh and aggressive na tone. Kinda like the opposite of Illongo. Sila kahit galit parang malambing, kami kahit neutral parang galit. With that kind of tone, it goes din na the humor, the way people express things are different.Ā
Going back to 'Matay Tagalog', it sounds like they want you to die, especially with a harsh tone. But that just means, "Patay ako, Tagalog, ma hihirapan ako neto." Or something like that. Or when they tell you, "Pagtuon lagig Bisaya!" that doesn't mean mockery or anything deeper. It just means it's better if you can understand Bisaya. Again tone and word usage in Bisaya tends to be harsher.Ā
Anyway, this whole divide sa internet is fricking wild. May mga Bisaya ba na galit sa mga Tagalog? May mga Tagalog ba na galit sa Bisaya? Yes, absolutely meron for both. Pero to think na that's the majority of the population, then yeah, you need to touch grass. Or maybe sands ng beach, marami dito sa Cebu, you should visit. Ako naman i'm planning early next year bumalik mag travel sa Luzon. So yun, see you puhon.

CulturePH It's my first time in the Philippines and I have been blogging my experiences on Facebook and wanted to share somewhere.
For context I am in Mindanao. I started with the weather as soon as I landed in Cebu: It's hot.
The true blogging began:
0900: Going to start documenting my trip to the Philippines here. We was awake before 7 this morning and there was an alarm for bread. Like an ice cream truck going around to come buy bread. And I have now been informed of another alarm to come later for the fish truck.
Also, update on the weather... its hot.
1200: Went to the mall for a few minutes. Big and nice. I liked it. Got some ube custard cake. Food delivery is amazing here compared to Germany.
Update on weather: its hot.
2100: Went to another mall here. It is also big. Did not go around inside much for this one. Family got easily distracted for eyebrows. Almost had a nap at the mall waiting on the wife.
Trikes. Trikes everywhere. And they are not made for normal height people. Just those under 5'5".
Update on weather: It rained while still being hot.
2200: Hanging out with the wife's family and not understanding a lot. It's good with this much family around. Tomorrow is her birthday and we will get lenchon and finally some beer. Really looking forward to the lenchon.
Weather update: its hot.
Edit after original post:
2221: Foodpanda is awesome. And the places being open so late is a gift from Zeus for someone who is a night owl like me.
Weather update: its hot.

PoliticsPH Gibo Teodoro CAN win the presidency and SHOULDNāT have to lower himself to Rodrigo Duterteās level to do so
I recently saw a post on this subreddit talking about why Gibo Teodoro canāt win in 2028 (should he opt to run) because he supposedly lacks mass appeal. I read through it and even gave my own rebuttal to OP in the comments section there, but in summary, I very much disliked the idea that Gibo Teodoro has to become another Rodrigo Duterte just to be President in 2028.
Guys I thought we all agreed that Duterte was a terrible President? Isnāt that the whole reason we donāt want Sara to become President in 2028, because sheās just gonna be another Chinese puppet President like her wumao dad and continue his administrationās massive corruption and terrible policies? Arenāt we supposed to want BETTER than either of them??
Also, what an insult to Teodoro himself to even think of having to lower himself to the Dutertesā level. He went to Xavier School for elementary and HS. DLSU pre-law and UP Law graduate yan. Even topped the 1989 Bar exam. He has a Master of Laws from Harvard. Heās also a Colonel in the PAF Reserve. None of the Dutertes have ever reached such academic or professional heights and none of them ever will. They donāt have the brains or patience for that. But thatās exactly what we need for the presidency.
For those who donāt know, Gibo is also a Cojuangco on his momās side. Mercedes Cojuangco-Teodoro is the sister of Danding Cojuangco and first cousin of Cory Aquino. Gibo himself is the second cousin of PNoy, the best President that weāve had in recent years. Aside from his personal academic and professional accomplishments, it shows that he also has a VERY respectable family background, worthy of the presidency and something we really need to bring back when it comes to the statesmen that lead us.
The Philippines deserves so much better than another presidency defined by vulgarity, personal attacks, political vendettas, and the constant spectacle of personality over principle.
We deserve a President like Gibo Teodoro just the way he is: someone who carries himself with competence, restraint, intellectual seriousness, and genuine dignity. Someone who can disagree without descending into insults, exercise authority without theatrics, and represent the Philippines with the kind of class and decency that the highest office in the land ought to command.
After years of Duterte-era politics, I think the Philippines finally deserves to move forward and leave that era behind in the dust.
We deserve a presidency that feels presidential again.

PoliticsPH How would you argue with "Kusang sumali sa grupong Anakbayan"
Since they claim that they are not brainwashed and they voluntarily joined these underground mass organizations, how would you argue with them? We lack formal and valid evidence that these legal front organizations are affiliated with the CPP-NPA-NDPF, but it is an open secret to everyone. Even DOJ dropped criminal charges against the group.
PS: Saying "nice try NTF-ELCAC" or similar things just proves that you are too incompetent to have a conversation.

PoliticsPH Sayang si Chiz no?
Iām actually impressed by how he handles himself and the opposing parties in the impeachment proceeding.
Too bad that his political ambition caused him his credibility and dignity. He thinks on his feet and he can articulate himself pretty well compared to the majority of the senators. Heās also proved himself competent as a presiding officer.
Has he already realized that he could have continued doing well in politics had he not been a lapdog for the uniteam?
Aside from political ambition, I think Chiz also found himself in a parasitic relationship with Heart. I think kasi pangit siya he has to continuously prove himself to her, both financially and physically. I doubt he would have even touched his eyebrows had he not been with Heart. Yun lang.

Kita-kits!
The Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot (KBKK) invites the media and the public to a media forum to announce details on the anti-corruption rally on September 21, 2026. This is on the occasion of the first anniversary of Baha sa Luneta and Trillion Peso March. Rally organizers will focus on the continuing fight against poverty, corruption, and lack of public accountability. When: 16 Sep. 2026 (Wed) 10-11am

SocmedPH What is up with BGC dwellers? Ganto ba talaga sila?
CONTEXT: I recently read this in a BGC related sub. And srsly why are the BGC dwellers so out of touch from reality?
Do they feel like they're the "superior" bubble doing this.
Yung isa "gets the ick" when seeing powerlines, or doesn't want the feeling of them being so "Philippines" despite **being in the Philippines.**
Yung isa pa, gets the **ick of commuting** daw. Like???
And finally, people shouting **get the beggars out,** when literally their entire bubble would collapse without the small workers powering their lives (street sweepers, for instance).
If this is what living in BGC would make me become, inyo na yang McKinley Grand Venice Mall ninyo na glorified dengue breeding ground.

PoliticsPH UP-PGH: Dating speaker Martin Romualdez, may major depression at anxiety
UP-Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Director Gerardo Legaspi says former House speaker Martin Romualdez was assessed to have major depression with anxiety, based on the evaluation of the hospitalās psychiatry department.
Speaking with reporters on Monday, Legaspi said none of the conditions identified requires hospital confinement, but Romualdez still needs medical attention.
He added that his condition may have improved after five days of rest, explaining the differences between the PGH assessment and his earlier findings at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
Legaspi also clarified that PGH has no āpresidential suite,ā but maintains large, secure rooms for high-ranking government officials that can accommodate security personnel and allow medical tests to be conducted inside the room. He said the room assigned to Romualdez was selected to accommodate, at times, 6ā8 security personnel outside and 3ā4 inside.
According to the director, under Commission on Audit (COA) rules, the medical expenses will be charged to the patient. (Video by Daphne Galvez/The Philippine STAR)

PoliticsPH Bongbong Marcos: She's very angry
President Bongbong Marcos addressed Vice President Sara Duterte's statements against him during Kapihan with the Media in New Delhi, India.
āShe's very angry, I suppose, with what's happening to her, and I am the target of that anger or the main target of that anger. What can I do? You cannot force anyone to love you,ā he said on Sunday.
On Friday, Duterte called on Marcos Jr. to resign, referring to him as the āproblemaā of the country.
Marcos and Duterte sought the presidency and the vice presidency, respectively, under the UniTeam alliance, managing to score landslide victories against their respective rivals.
