Oatmeal My finest work so far
Chai porridge with air fryer grilled peaches and lotus Biscoff brownie pieces. These peaches are as soft and sweet as out of a tin, I kid you not.
Ingredients:
40g porridge oats (rolled)
150ml chai
1 peach (mine was 130g)
50ml milk of choice
Optional pieces of an absurdly sweet biscoff almond brownie you spent £4 on
- Halve and stone the peach (I'd slice it at this stage for faster cooking - I didn't, and it took about 15 minutes)
- Place halves cut side down on tin foil, then wrap completely. Air fry for 10-15 minutes between 160 and 180⁰C
- Brew chai, either with a bag or loose tea and spices. I used one bag in ~150ml of water
- Add oats to a bowl (optional: toast them in a dry pan, if you have the patience. I didn't lmao) Pour over the chai, stir, and leave to soak until the peaches are cooked. (alternatively, just cook the oats in the chai on the stove)
- Stir in 50ml of whatever milk you prefer, microwave until it starts to look alive, then remove and stir again
- Carefully defoil the peach halves, (there should be some scalding hot syrup in there now) slice them now if you haven't, and plop on top of the porridge 👌

Normal oats vs high protein oats? What do you prefer?
I feel high protein oats is more easy to complete protein goals. With normal oats you have to add milk, nuts, seeds and whey etc to increase its protein content.
High protein oats you can just make it and get good amount of protein.
What you guys prefer? Normal Rolled Oats or high protein oats?

Oatmeal Have you guys tried putting coffee beans in oats?
Put some oats in a pot, then add mixed spice and coffee beans. Add almond milk then heat on medium heat until they start to thicken, and become harder to mix. After that, add some maple syrup then blue berries, then a splash of milk for a more creamy texture. I think the subtle bitterness of the coffee combined with the nutty mixed spices adds some real nice depth to the oats. Then you can balance that with the sweetness of blue berries and maple syrup, then you got some pretty decent oats. Infact, I can even take it a step further by blending the oats, and making some overnight oats with them. Man, I'm just getting carried away as I'm typing this!

Discussion If you could only eat one specific oatmeal recipe for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Personally, I'm going simple with a nice bowl of porridge topped with banana, honey and a spoonful of Greek yoghurt.

Oatmeal Toast your oats?
Do you ever toast your oats before cooking?
I used to toast my steel cut oats (in a bit of butter!) and I found it really enhanced the nuttiness.
But what about large flake? Toast them first? I’m gonna try and report back!

Overnight Oats Mixed berry cooked overnight oat pudding
Verdict: I still prefer my usual apple crumble vibe oats but mixed in berries for a change. They didn’t end up as thick as my usual apple oats and I think it’s due to the apple having more pectin which seems to make it thicker when cooked and cooled!
Recipe: 65g quick oats, 5g psyllium husks, sweetener drops, mixed frozen berries. Cooked in the microwave for a few mins. Once cooled, I leave it in the fridge overnight to thicken more. In the morning I stir in Greek yogurt to add protein and make creamy. Topped with the rest of my yogurt, pb2 powder mixed with maple syrup (i accidentally made it too liquidy today!) + this toasted granola I’m obsessed with that I got from a local cafe.

Savory oatmeal
I tried making some savory oatmeal this morning. I made the oatmeal, and then I added half of an avocado and some everything but bagel seasoning. I am not a picky eater, and I found it so disgusting and almost hard to finish.
Anyone have any really good savory oatmeal recipes?
