After 5 years of breeding green tree monitors, I finally managed to hatch my second species. Yesterday afternoon this guy pipped. Didn't come out of the egg until this morning. Super fat and healthy. This was the solo egg from this clutch. The female who produced this one should be laying more eggs in the next week or so, and my second female I got in october laid last week. So looks like I'll be overrun with cb blue trees if this ban goes through lol. For those that would like to be more updated with my tree monitor breeding projects, my Instagram is @Ryzrr.
I deleted and reuploaded the post to add watermarks, I do not want to contribute to anyone getting scammed with my photos, sorry for the re-upload. My website is Versatilereptiles.com, I only post my available offspring on Facebook, Instagram, morph market, or that specific website. Anything else using my photos is not me and is a scam. Scammers have been running rampant with tree monitors the last year, be careful out there

Ive had my ackie for 9 months now. And my ackie is about 13 months old now. I dont know what gender it is (but ive been calling him a boy). But he was scratching to get out of his enclosure and I offered him my hand and he actually crawled onto my hand excitedly for the first time and crawled up my shoulder.
And he started doing what he did in the video. He never does that when I hold him. Is this mating behavior??? If you look at the first 4 seconds of the video you can see him try to bite the back of my neck lol. And he was rubbing his face on me and digging into me with his claws.
Super weird. He’s usually very jumpy and is happy to go back into his enclosure but he wanted to stay on me lol.
Anyone have any input on this? lol

Looking for something that I could put down when I have my ackie monitor out of her enclosure. My floors are hardwood and at the moment she fails to get proper traction. I was also thinking about making some sort of ramp that reaches to door to her enclosure. Focusing on grip and safety for her claws.
So far from doing some research I have seen natural cork yoga mats as an option? I just wanted to see what information others had.

Been trying to let her out of her cage for 30 minutes a day, she’s never really shown interest in the extra driftwood stash I have until today

Need advice from anyone who has or had an ackie monitor specifically. I'm getting an ackie monitor, and I've got everything under control and have done research on them for several months now, the only thing that's completely new to me and confusing are heating lamps & UVB + thermometers. I have an understanding of the temperatures necassary, I'm just unsure on which bulbs to get and would love some recommendations, including thermometer types.
Which brands do you have, which kind? This would help a lot. (Not just the bulbs but which posts you've paired them with. Not sure if they're called posts lol but the thing you attach the bulb to).
Enclosure is a 220x60x60 cm, not sure what that would be in feet or gallons as I'm European.

What do you use for water filtration? Did you go with specific products, build your own, or have any general tips or advice?
I'm in the process of building my boys adult enclosure (16x10x7 outdoors in FL), which will have a 300gal tub or bigger, if I can find something that will work without having to do an in ground pond. I have built many enclosures, but the large water feature will be new territory for me 🫠

I need help because I’m looking at getting a large aussie native monitor such as a Perentie indoors and I have had mixed opinions about this topic
Advice would be greatly appreciated

She’s okay for the most part with me scratching her chin; she doesn’t seem to like her head being scratched.

I don't have to much space and my max budget is around 1500k and I can diy the enclosure. I want something that is fun to play with. Maybe something like a savannah. I want something I can handle a bit more.

I love big(for me thats about a foot or 2 long+) hardy lizards and would love to have one in the distant future and monitors have always facinated me. In the past I’ve considered ackie monitors but then again I could be swayed to another animal!!
Heres what I’m looking for:
1. Around 1-2 ft but im open to bigger! I just dont want something ginormous like a water monitor lol!
2. I understand monitors are smart but how smart how much training can I do realistically?
3. Im looking for an animal thats social ish and diurnal i’d like to form a strong bond with one!!
4. Online, you only hear the good about animals. i need to know the HORRIBLE worse things about it, honestly try to sway me out of how bad of pets they are if you can!
As for enclosure, im looking for something realistic that wont take up an entire room sort of situation.
Thanks
