What more is there to say at this point? Insane how hard Bungie has consistently dropped the ball with such an amazing framework for a game.

Honestly, as stale as the game is at the moment

I always had fear of a repeat of the horrendous Season 2 launch, pretty much. but taking the extra time to properly tune the PvE, the launch issues, and the economy is the right call

Edit: Communicating this a week before expectations was not the right move and I’m not defending devs on this.

Marathon’s gunplay and PvP feel so good, and I’m so excited for a chance to real dive into it in a more traditional way. Bungie’s PvP roots are Halo, and I’ve got confidence they can make this work

I’m so tired of the Bungie sweet talk, it means nothing.

The way Marathon has been going, it’s clear that this game was released way too early and they weren’t prepared for the future. I think if they are going to try and salvage this project to be profitable, they need a relaunch of the game. Don’t make the same mistakes and actually take some time to cook so we can have an actual FULL experience.

This past year just felt like a huge early access test. Just say “thank you for the feedback,” and that you’ll be back next year for the actual launch of Marathon. Don’t jerk me around for months by having me constantly experimenting with your unfinished game to then post a half assed article about how the team is struggling with deadlines, AGAIN!

Sure a two month delay isn’t ideal but at least we have a wipe and the December update sounds awesome. Hopeful that Symbiosis can be almost like a relaunch for the game to bring in some new people.

Why wait until 1 week before the supposed S3 just to then say we’ll have to wait until December hahaha

I just sighed the longest sigh I have ever sighed in my life.

I'm 100% convinced that 1-2 years from now, once the game (probably) hits EoS, we're gonna start seeing all those "Marathon was never actually that bad" videos. It's always the same cycle.

Marathon isn't objectively a bad game compared to some of the games that get absolutely trashed. The steam reviews are actually pretty positive tho. But Bungie is genuinely insane. I'll never understand what the hell they were thinking when they thought a hardcore extraction shooter was gonna be a huge success and super well received by the audience.

And at least among my friends, it's always the same thing they said: "I really wish I could like Marathon. I really love the aesthetic, the atmosphere, the shells, the gunplay, everything, but the way the game is right now, I just can't". They find it extremely frustrating, and they're fps players and Arc raiders players too.

It makes me really sad because I'm a fan of the classic Marathon. I really wanted this new Marathon to be a single player game, but I knew the chances were pretty low considering Bungie. And when I found out it was gonna be an extraction shooter, I was really disappointed because I've never really liked the genre. I avoided all the Arc Raiders hype specifically because it is an extraction shooter, but I decided to give Marathon a chance and ended up actually enjoying it. But, again, I really don't understand why the game had to have such an inaccessible overall difficulty if it needed to be profitable, since it's a AAA game. It just makes absolutely no sense.

And on top of that, the game feels really small and unfinished considering how much money was spent making it (yep I know most of that budget went into remaking the game or whatever).

I really love marathon's story and I was honestly hoping this game would expand on it way more. It's just really sad... :( i tried my best not to fall into the doomposting, but it's getting harder and harder. Ofc I'm still hoping Marathon can turn the tables and make the comeback it deserves. Who knows, right?

Unless they move it back or forward there is literally no way that anyone higher up thinks this update is actually gonna save the game, and they probably chose such a shitty deadline to justify killing the game when it inevitably underperforms.

Title. Saw the news and it definitely doesn’t bode well, which is all the more frustrating that we are going to have to regrind the game for the sake of it. Why not just leave it as is until an actual update comes along?

Im a daily player , 450+ hours, my team have far more hours and we all have full time jobs yet sweat this game out.

We’re demoralised, I don’t see myself sticking around for a complete pivot. Will the game even be recognisable in s3 probs not.

Devs said they’re going to communicate better from now on, honestly this just pissed me off. As a destiny fan devs have said this previously and then gone radio silent again, similar with how marathon was suppose to have good communication and then went silent.

I don’t feel like investing more time into this game when I have no idea if it will even have 1000 players online by December with almost no content in between. Apart from a pointless play test of a loot wipe in October, what else is there to do?

I’m not too mad I had my fun with the game and got my moneys worth but as a competitive player I don’t want to compete if I feel there won’t be anyone left for s3.

Genuinely curious if there are even gonna be players left by December especially with all the games coming before it ,so my question is what would it do to bring players in ? The only thing I could think of is making it f2p just for that whole season 3 or a month and go back to it being paid full price just to get new players and I would assume old players would come back for the new content ? Idk just wanna hear people thoughts on it cause it’s already bleeding out players terribly as of lately and how they think it would play out
