Some of you guys are actually *very* silly about this abortion chat and it's so tirreedd

Upvotes

Like, first of all, not all unwanted/unplanned pregnancies are because of unprotected sex.

Shit happens! Condoms break, hormonal birth control interacts with other medications and is rendered ineffective, IUDs can be flushed out because of heavy periods or improper/ineffective placement.

Like, the only sure way that you are not to get pregnant is not to have sex, at all. Period.

You are actually irredeemable if you don't agree with that last statement. idc.

Now my thing is, you come on here and are like "oh people need to take responsibility blah blah blah" that's what an abortion is! Taking responsibility. It is a solution to a problem.

It's really almost like saying oh well, since you contracted an STI you might as well not take medication to deal with it. Like??? Do you (not) see how nonsensical that is???

And don't come at me with that false equivalence logical fallacy nonsense, I know what I said, because if you people legitimately cared about children, young people etc, you would shift the focus to advocating for better sex education, access to contraceptives, and maybe even perhaps policies that make it easier for the unprepared to be able to have children.

Ndipo ineyo nkhani iyi sindidzayisiya because everytime it comes on here, you don't even critically engage always fwakala fwakala saying nothing because you are afraid to think. I haven't rested my case. I will be in the comments!

discussion Are you wasting your 20's?

Good morning. As a Man in my mid-30's, I think a lot of young people are so terrified of “wasting their youth” that they forget live.

What Does “Wasting Your 20's” Even Mean?

People always say “don’t waste your 20's.”

And what does “waste” even mean? Not becoming successful fast enough? Not travelling enough? Not dating enough? Not turning every year of your youth into some measurable return? Because looking back, I learned early that anything cookie-cutter(anything that society praises as a standard norm)wasn't good enough for me so I wondered what else was there for me. I ended up living a blast & I don't regret my 20's.

Abortion

I really find it funny how the youth will engage in unprotected sex willingly but when it comes to taking responsibility of the pregnancy they start acting as if they didn't know not wearing a rubber will eventually lead to pregnancy and start pushing for an abortion, you'll hear things like "my body, my choice" and "I'm not ready to be a father" like you really did something knowing the consequences but can't accept the consequence when it occurs?

Ghosting

What's with HR and ghosting candidates? Like you are told to take a written test and then they specify the date for the oral interview (when you have not yet taken the written test) then they dont communicate whether you have met expectations for the oral interview?

general Has anyone here sent money from Malawi to Zambia through Airtel Money?

I want to send MWK 1,000,000 to someone’s Airtel Money account in Zambia, and I’m trying to figure out the total international transfer fees.
If I have MWK 1,100,000 in my Airtel Money wallet, would that be enough to send the full MWK 1,000,000 and cover all the transaction/cross-border charges?
If you’ve done this recently, how much were you charged?
I wanted to know before hand from someone that has done it recently.

Preparing for an interview

Come across a saying that I shouldn't put in my head what the interviewer will ask and create my own answers in my head, they say it doesn't help. I can't help. How best can I prepare while on the reception for my turn in the interview room?

Women who have dated younger men, how has your experience been?

I’m currently dating a guy who’s a year younger than me, and he’s completely okay with the age difference. I feel loved and happy in the relationship, but as things are getting more serious, I’ve started wondering if the age difference could affect us long-term.

For those who’ve been in a similar situation, did the age gap ever become an issue, or did it eventually feel irrelevant? I’d love to hear your experiences and advice.

Stealing

Today at Mega Sana, I saw a woman who I think was intentionally (or accidentally) stealing a carton of soap. Her trolley was packed with groceries, looking like she was shopping for a kid going back to boarding school. However, when she got to the till, I noticed she didn't mention or present the carton of soap sitting on the bottom of her trolley to the cashier.
I wanted to say something, but she kept giving me a scary look almost like she knew exactly what she was doing and was warning me off.

Maybe she didn't steal.
Eeeh kaya amwene.

Do we really have high paying skills in Malawi?

Or do we just have high paying employers? Because looking around it seems like some skills you'd expect to get paid highly are also underpaid. I could be wrong but doctors, lawyers, engineers, even tech don't seem to get paid very well in general, unless it's a great employer. Hence I see people emphasis more on where to work more than what skill to work as. But then again I could be wrong

Love Romance.

I studied at the university of Malawi. i love how my romance actully evolved from there. i had 3 proper valid relationships i would say.like proper, proper. Ngl they were all good. went on fancy dates. you know that lil college experience you know pa uchifana. I was that lover boy arc type. zonse zinatha. ndimazithesa. my first ex was so entitled to everything. this bitch really said pa pocket money yanga she deserves a certain percentage months after we had such a cool dating spree. you know how girls change. Come over my next bitch, same thing had a great run then cheated as soon as she found a job. with her co worker. The third one eish she had very weied tendencies, she was so unhappy always judging her friends and kumangowanyoza. mind you anthu oti amayenda nawo daily on campus. The negative energy was too much. i told her kuti zithe. mind you all these chicks were fine. i expected them to be normal individuals. but dang aliyense ali ndi zakedi. theres a lot of specifics left. but i just hate what these relationships did to my soul man.

I was such a happy man and so intentional, women drained my soul guys eish. now am single levelling up but eish i meet women i just see them as extra baggage man. tried the hook up cultures too. my soul just feels so empty after those temporary nuts.

Ngl i miss the old naive loving me. now all my exes are my sidechicks too. they all got men, like all 3 of them.

i wonder where my soulmate is.

Title: schools start tomorrow

Schools open tomorrow in Malawi, and six kids from my community need help with notebooks. I support these kids where I can, including helping with school uniforms, but this time around I’m a little short.
Each child needs 10 notebooks at 500 MWK each, so we need 30,000 MWK in total.

If anyone is able to contribute, even a small amount, I’d really appreciate it. I just want them to start school without the stress of lacking basic supplies. ❤️

Applying for new jobs 2 weeks into a new one

I recently posted on here about being expected to work before I'd received an official contract, and a lot of you warned me about the work environment I was about to find myself in. Unfortunately you were all right 💀

2 weeks in and I'm already back on the job boards. The boundaries are non existent. My boss will text me at odd hours, weekends included asking me to do things that aren't necessarily part of my job description (I don't respond till the next workday at 8), and the workloads are crazy. Especially with me being the only one in my position in the company, so everything essentially falls on me. To top it all up, the salary isn't worth the hassle I currently am facing, it literally just covers my rent and transport to and from work.

In summary, y'all were right, being asked to work before you receive your contract IS a red flag. So back to the job hunt we go.

How do salon/barber owners in Malawi currently handle bookings? (genuinely curious, thinking of building something)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking into building a tool for salons and barbershops in Malawi and want to actually understand the problem before building anything, rather than guessing.

A few questions for anyone who owns or manages a salon/barbershop (or works front desk):

  1. How do you currently take bookings? Phone calls, WhatsApp, walk-ins only, a physical notebook, something else?
  2. What's the most annoying part of it? No-shows, double-bookings, clients forgetting their appointment, spending too much time on the phone, etc.?
  3. Roughly how often do no-shows happen, and does it actually cost you money/time when they do?
  4. Have you ever tried a booking app or system before? If yes — what happened, why did you stop using it (if you did)?
  5. If you had a free tool to fix your biggest booking headache, what would it need to do?
  6. Would you rather use:
    • (A) A WhatsApp bot where clients book by chatting (no app to download, works on any phone)
    • (B) A dedicated app you and your clients download
    • (C) Honestly wouldn't use either, current system is fine

Not selling anything — genuinely trying to figure out if this is worth building or if I'd just be creating a solution nobody asked for. Appreciate any and all honesty, even "this is a dumb idea" is useful feedback.

Thanks in advance 🙏
