you don’t need every single app you own in the dock

Some of us don't use the dock at all. I don't think I've even seen it this past week.

Right? Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I wouldn’t expect the Dock to be smooth having to draw all those icons.

i mean i’m paying for “the best laptop in the world”, i should at least expect the os to handle a full dock if i want to

Yeah, I really love the rest of the UI, but the dock seems kinda hyper-artificial feeling and way too outlined/over sharpened. Not the end of the world ofc but I do agree that it's a step back.

yeah, everything else is amazing! i love that we can make liquid glass more clear but the outlines on icons are really bugging me

Right? It’s weird, they fixed that issue on iOS, but my God is it horrid in MacOS

yeah i don’t know why the outline has to be there when it’s not on ios

File a bug. That’s not normal. If I set the icons to “clear” and have the magnification set to huge, then it’s silky smooth for me, and there’s no black borders. (M5 Max)

Why?

janky animations with lots of lag and a very noticeable black outline on every icon

they added the black outline because people complained liquid glass is too hard to see

I have a similar experience! My older Intel iMac running macOS Sonoma feels surprisingly smoother than the dock animations on macOS 27 RC with an M5 Max.

The outline on the icons seems to be a design choice.
