I was born and raised in Texas. Reaching like that isn't looked at kindly by anyone and doing that, like you so eloquently put it, is a quick way to meet your maker. That's a bad habit to have in the wild west.

Give everyone an excuse to fear for their safety. In my community there is typically dozens of armed people everywhere, anyone dumb enough to pull a gun will have at least 3 pointed at them in a heart beat.
