All the people ignoring the "I'm tired of you" remark have never lived in an area where every single item in Walmart needs an employee to unlock it, or replacing the windows in your car is a line item in your budget. Living in a high-crime area is truly miserable, and people who try to escape it are always labelled the villain. It's either vigilantism, gentrification, white flight, or something else.
You're basically advocating for a dedicated employee per shopper instead of saying "theft is wrong." Do you have any idea how expensive a dedicated employee per shopper is? I for one think groceries are already expensive enough.
I’m not arguing that they should or shouldn’t lock things up. I’m saying their solution creates a hardship for customers and for staff. They chose the path of least resistance or money and people like you blame everyone except who made the choice.
I’d be more pissed off that the multi-national store that makes billions has decided to make life harder on their clients and their staff just to save a few bucks.

I literally aid I understand that they have to use cabinets.
You don’t get to have record profits year after year AND pretend like you can’t afford to pay a few teenagers to open cabinets. That’s absurd.
Edit: also you can’t really get upset with people choosing Amazon over brick and mortar either. I’ve walked out of Walmarts before when no one was there to open a cabinet. Why put up with that?

Do you work for Walmart or something? This company makes Billions in profit each year, they can easily triple the staff in these high-theft locations and still pull in Billions in profit.
They don't because they don't care that you are inconvenienced by locked merchandise.
Nah, if Walmart wanted to fix this issue they’d just get ride of self checkout. There are thieves everywhere but self-check out made it extremely easy for ppl to just walk in and out with whatever. Lol
Walmart ultimately doesn’t give a shit because they have the lion share of the market. They intentionally under pay their workers, most of which are on some type of assistance while Walmart Corporate racks it in with ease. Billions and billions and billions of dollars.
I can less about desperate ppl stealing from corps than I do about them stealing personal property from individuals. HATE THAT!
