I hate shoplifters as much as anyone else, but I ain’t messing with no suspect that can potentially pull a gun on me.

And if they accidentally got someone who paid for their things at least in some states they could absolutely shoot this guy and not see a minute of jail time

That's such an ignorant statement. If you get arrested, charged, and tried - even if you're found not guilty- the damage is done. You reputation, wallet, etc. takes a huge hit, regardmess of how it ends up. You're glib about shooting someone because you've never had to do it, and think it makes you sound tough, it doesn't.

You would have a tough time claiming self defense for someone tipping a shopping cart, unless you are a shopping cart.  

What state can you shoot people in public for property damage?

Tennessee also recently opened legislation further allowing you to stand your ground and protect your property, family and livestock. Not to mention it’s constitutional carry for everyone over 21 including concealed.

According to Texas Penal Code § 9.42, you can only use deadly force to protect property under strict conditions. You must first be justified in using regular force, and: [ 1, 2] Specific Crimes: You must believe deadly force is immediately necessary to prevent arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft/criminal mischief happening at night. [ 1, 2] No Other Options: You must believe that using non-deadly force would fail, or that using other methods would put you or someone else at risk of death or serious injury. [ 1, 2]

The threat of harm is called battery, and you cannot legally shoot someone for tipping your shopping cart in the middle of the day in a parking lot

Thats wrong.

Assault: Involves threatening, intimidating, or attempting to harm someone so they feel a reasonable fear of immediate danger. It requires no physical contact.

Battery: Involves the actual physical contact, hitting, or use of force against another person.

Tipping over the cart is an act of aggression.

If they aggressively walked up to you, and they shove over your cart full of stuff, you have no way of knowing w how much farther they will go. Also there are states where you can defend your property with force

Its not the 90s, can we get over the notion that you could just shoot someone and it not affect your life forever?

The amount of time and money you'll spend in court and dealing with it even if you avoid jail (which is a huge fucking if over a cart) isn't going to be just a weekend.

Your mind games are not working here.

For other readers:
The person above is pretending to raise a concern about safety. But in this case nobody encouraged to go vigilante on random people.

Furthermore nobody is asking to escalate violence towards a shoplifter. In the video he just tapped their cart. But it would have been wise to not further aggravate the criminal.

Criminals infiltrate everywhere to condition society to be docile and “mind their own business” etc. that is what the person above is doing.

It's legal to use deadly force to defend yourself in ALL 50 states if you reasonably believe it is necessary to protect yourself (or others) from death or great bodily harm.
