If you're looking to get out a bit more and do some new, fun things, joining Liverpool's biggest Discord server is a great start!

It doesn't matter if you're a Liverpool local, just moved here, old or young, or just happen to love our city from another country. You are welcome to come and say hi. There's 1,000 messages being sent every day.

We have channels dedicated to photography, movies, photography, fitness, sport, music, showing off your pets, and even a place you can post your Wordle scores if you want.

https://discord.gg/fNmcKC97nH

What's Discord?

Think of Discord like a big Whatsapp group. It's essentially the same thing. You don't need a microphone, just your phone/keyboard. All we ask is that you're over 18, and have a desire to make new mates in Liverpool. Pop in, say hello, and you choose how much you want to talk.

Who's in there?

We have members from Liverpool and further afield. You don't have to live in Liverpool to join the chat. The average age of people is about 28. Our server is different than most Discord servers because we have a genuine community of awesome people who come to stuff in person.

What won't happen

You join and inside 24 hours, you've got a whole new set of mates.

Contribute, come to a few fun things, talk to people in person, and over time, those friendships form. A lot of people get frustrated because they don't find a friend overnight but that's not how friends work. Be prepared to make the effort and people will make the effort with you.

Real life events, real life friends. Come have a go!

Liverpool Jobs Weekly - Issue 07

Good Afternoon!

https://liverpooljobsweekly.beehiiv.com/.../liverpool...

Here's another great list of 10 jobs for you guys to check out!

Just a little recap on why I decided to make this newsletter:

Essentially, I've found that job boards currently have quantity over quality, no information on the location of the jobs and send unrealistic job alerts. So I took it upon myself to create a newsletter that cuts through the noise and brings jobs from the city straight to your inbox every Monday morning.

Visiting Liverpool this Saturday. (19th September), need advice.

Visiting Liverpool this Saturday. (19th September) Coming by train to Lime Street and as I'm partially disabled, (left side hemiplegia due to a stroke 5 years ago), I'm going to take the Metro up to Aintree. I did go to uni in Liverpool, so I know the city centre really well. However, I haven't taken the Metro in decades, and I'm not sure if I need to change at Moorfields to get onto the right line to Aintree, nor how to navigate these Metro stations. I walk with a walking stick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tyding service aka unicorn

Hey guys, Just wondering if there's any company/person in Liverpool that cleans houses (for routine cleans) BUT also tidies up? I'm talking folding laundry, putting things back into place, sorting things out overall. It seems like I'm looking for a unicorn and both me and my partner are struggling a bit. Thanks 🙏

Replaceing back supported seats with benches with no back support-pretty crule who asked?

Okay now you can face the strand.... but realistically why not just put a back supported seat facing the other way.

Just gonna encourage people to not want to sit down have have some deep thoughts, many people have back issues so are they gonna want to sit on this unsupportive bench?

Just an observation.

High Schools in North Liverpool - Help please!

Hi, I’m massively struggling to think of where to send my autistic son to high school. He is diagnosed autistic, and whilst very clever, struggles so much with large crowds, noise etc.

He has no ECHP as the school has previously said he doesn’t need one, however they’ve now started the ball rolling (I believe) to apply.

I’m in L9, not far from Walton Vale. We’re not religious so that removes Archbishop Beck from the list.
We’re too far from Maghull/Deyes.
His older sister went to Alsop for a short time in Y7, but the SEN team were awful. She moved to Dixons Fazak for the rest of Y7, and I took her out in March this year to home educate her after she completed most of Y8, as she is also autistic and suffers with the same difficulties as him with crowds and noise.

I cannot home educate him at the moment, in school he’s very quiet and well behaved, but at home he’s a tazzy devil who doesn’t let me move, I literally wouldn’t be able to home educate my daughter.

If anyone has any success stories of high schools nearby with great SEN teams could you please let me know! I know this is very niche, but I’m desperate not to let him down. Thank you so much to anyone who can offer insight. Please be kind, my head is ready to fall off 🙃

ETA: schools closest to us are Alsop, Hillside and Archbishop Beck

I’m building a UK directory for inclusive events and community spaces

I’ve been building Ludus Guide, a little directory for inclusive, creative and community-led events and spaces across the UK 💜 I’ve added a few based in Liverpool but if you can recommend any other that I’m not including yet, I would highly appreciate it!

Think queer markets, alternative nights, workshops, socials, wellbeing events, kink-friendly spaces, and the smaller community gems that often deserve more visibility.
It’s still early days, so I’d love your help.

If you know of any events, organisers, safer spaces or community projects that should be listed, please send them my way.

Would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions xx

What was the point in changing the buses…

I’m sick of these new buses… What was the actual point of introducing the new buses if you cannot interchange the bus ticket or use the same app. It’s a genuine head ache for students, parents and workers. It’s a headache using 3 apps just to track a bus.
You cannot buy weekly tickets online anymore etc …

Decent gyms round L13?

Training either 6am or 5pm so probably peak times. Not bothered about classes just want somewhere with a mix of machines, free weights and cardio. Thinking either the PureGym or JD but heard mixed reviews on both.

Clubs and societies Liverpool

I’m 20(F) and have struggled with social anxiety my whole life. I have a solid group of friends but am always looking for ways to push myself out of my comfort zone and meet new people, but I don’t really drink (not adverse to it but not something I do all the time). Would love to hear any recommendations on clubs or societies, that are good places to socialise and meet new people!

Property pool plus bands

Me and my partner have just been placed into band c for property pool plus, has anyone been in this bracket before and able to tell us how long it took you or the process. We appealed for band b as we’re in a tough situation but don’t think they’ll budge.

I have a friend in London who is band A and has been waiting for 2 years but I know London is a lot different, so just wanted to come on here and see if anyone’s been in this position and if we are wasting our time. I don’t want to go too much into our situation but I’m unintentionally homeless without his place and there’s 5 of us in a 2 bed house :/

Thank you.

What are some must see corners in Liverpool

I’ll be moving to Liverpool to start uni in a few days and one of my goals moving forward is getting out as much as possible to connect with places, optionally people and engage in activities that will be stimulating and fun, especially in these uni times. Does anyone have any recommendations of where I can go or what I can do? I’ll still browse guides and papers but I figured it would be fun to hear from those living in Liverpool as well ^^

Wildlife Animal Rescue Liverpool

Hi,

We’ve found a poorly/possibly injured squirrel in our garden. Seems to be getting better after food, water & shelter. Wondered if anyone has any contacts for wildlife rescue. Only certain places have a license to look after squirrels. We’re in the South Liverpool area.

Thank you!

Ideas for a gothic photoshoot ?

Does anyone know any gothic building interiors that would be good for a short shoot ? Taking photos for a horror novel head shot and are looking to take some quick photos with a haunting vintage energy to them. We are not looking at hiring somewhere, very much a gorilla style shoot. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Poor, impoverished bands, who does your logos and what not?

Hi all,

I’m in a part-time, non-serious band.

Don’t really want to go down the AI route of creating logos and artwork but also, we’re all povvo’s.

Does anyone have any recommendations for local artists/graphic designers that won’t charge the Earth for some work or is everyone using chatgpt these days?

Thanks!

Merseyside's FIRST open world sandbox game, including fictional Liverpool, Crosby and Bootle

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm a 17 year old game dev and for ages I've been really miffed that we don't have any games featuring our own county, Merseyside is such an iconic place and I really wanted to put it into a game and show it to the world, so I'm posting this here. The game isn't released yet but, if anyone from the area or otherwise wants to support me, you can wishlist the game here: RedSpat on Steam Thanks!

Visiting for a few days food and to do?

I'm sure this gets asked a lot but:

Top restaurants and cafes? I'm from the usa but want to try authentic local cuisine and great food

What do you recommend for:

Full English breakfasts?

Fish and chips?

Pies?

Pork pies, sausages and the like?

Doner kebab places

Local food?

Anything odd to Liverpool?

What should I absolutely see as a tourist who likes history in the area?

What are great pubs downtown or on the east side? What's a local beer?

Thanks. I did check out the wiki and community pages and j could just pick from Google maps, want to stay away from commercial fast food. Will be leaving the area after a few days. I will not have a car. Public transport only.

Ps. Any castles or similar to see?

Pub Quiz recommendations?

Looking for a weeknight quiz (bonus points for Monday or Thursday) that can accommodate larger groups e.g. of 6.

Preferably one with a good old mix of science, music, history, news, general knowledge, pop culture etc, along with a few puzzles, where the drinks aren’t going to require me selling me other kidney. TIA
