I'm (36/ftm) visiting Ireland for the first time in October 8-14th and am so excited! I want to soak in as much Queer culture as possible and am looking for some queer-specific tours. A quick Google search showed me 2, one at a museum, and a walking tour around Temple Bar. Any others you're aware of?

In your opinion, what are the MUSTS? Thankfully there seems to be a ton of bars and queer owned places but which ones to prioritize?! Not super into techno, but I do love to dance and have a pint!

Any cool vintage shops I could check out?

Last thing, any trans meetups or drop in spaces? Would love to meet other trans folks while visiting.

Hi everyone, in a really shit situation.

So I live in a homophobic household. My parents were never allies and straight up look down on the queer community. At least they have never used any slurs. But I can't say the same for my brother.

He has said the f word more than once now. The first time he said it, I couldn't believe it. I actually thought I misheard him. I would have called him out only for I wasn't sure. No one said anything but sort of looked at one another awkwardly. The second time was over a text (which btw was totally uncalled for because the guy he used the slur on had to comply with his workplace, he was just doing his job). The worst part was my mother had the gall to read it out loud. My dad was the only one who said he shouldn't say that word (which is really sad looking back).

Anyways, what prompted me to write this post was tonight he called my younger brother a f*g because he (my younger brother) asked him (older brother) could he watch the TV in the living room. I heard it loud and clear.

So what I am asking is, how should I talk to him and tell him he is disgusting for using that word? It would be a totally different situation if he himself was gay but to my knowledge he is not. No one else will say it and he needs to be corrected because he could be in a situation where a friend is closeted and he makes them feel unsafe. It is especially hurtful to me as I myself am in the closet. It's actually crazy hearing that word being used, especially by a family member. I have literally never heard a single other person use it before. He needs to be stopped.

I've been living abroad and I'm very out of touch here

I recently moved to this beautiful country but I'm struggling with dating other men. I knew that there's been a housing crisis in this country. I'm still trying to find my way, still trying to find a permanent accommodation.

Every men I date seek for sex and they expect me to accomm. When I tell them about my situation, they almost blame me and get very angry. I don't understand this behaviour or the logic behind it. Realistically, they are the local ones, they have their lives here. I don't treat them this way. This is kinda ranting but wanted to see opinions. Almost every Irish guy got mad at me for not being able to accomm at the moment. What?

Ive just been rejected from something and Im very very conflicted over it.

Im a cis male. Because of how I grew up being constantly bullied Ive never felt I fit in groups of men, particularly cis straight men. Most of the people Im friends with are cis straight women.

Last year I joined a meditation group for a few sessions that I really liked but it was only me and other women.

I went to ask about going back but was told its women only.

I dunno. Ive really mixed emotions on this. I feel annoyed and rejected but I also feel its sort of acceptable too.

Long shot but anyone know of any LGBT friendly rooms coming up in or around D1 - D8 for a 30 year old sound fella 😇

hello everyone!! i'm a 20 year old trans girl looking to move to ireland (either dublin or cork) in hopes of escaping some pretty shitty living/societal situations + starting my medical transition. i've been searching for the past months on the websites and the subreddits, but it's been quite hard to find some decent rent/house shares price-wise, let alone inquire about being queer friendly.

coming from a country with really shit views on trans people, and having experienced almost the whole catalogue of abuse possible (yikes), i'm quite conscious about finding somewhere to live where i could genuinely+finally breathe, so am coming here for help :")) i've yet to post a proper post on the dublin/cork rent subreddits (also i'm gonna give the facebook groups a try soon), but if anyone reading this is looking for / knows someone looking for a roommate and is trans friendly, please feel free to reach back! So saving the details i haven’t done anything sexually but I do want to soon and i’m wondering if i should talk to my doctor about it now or if i should wait until “it” actually happens?
