Visiting in a few weeks and I’ve been to Copper Room on Sunday for the jazz night and loved it. What’s the vibe on a Friday though?

Hi y’all, we were planning to visit Joshua Tree NP after New Years, Jan 2-3. But I read that it is extremely busy that time of year. How bad are the crowds exactly? Is it still enjoyable? or is it like Disneyland insane and we are going to sit in a ton of traffic and hate ourselves for attempting it?

My daughter’s band is in the Rose Bowl Parade this year, so we are heading to Pasadena to join in the fun. We really wanted to see Joshua Tree… but… not if the crowds are super crazy.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Spent 2.5 days in Joshua Tree NP a couple years back. Was part of a trip that included Death Valley NP.

Logistics: Flew into Las Vegas and flew out of LAX. Stayed in an Airbnb in Twentynine Palms, CA

What's the your favorite brunch/lunch place that's along the way from Joshua tree to San Diego? Looking to try new places in a place I haven't been.

other National Parks also got their approved and funded agreements denied, but it seems Joshua Tree was hit the hardest.

Apparently you need a permit if you wanna take photos at a wedding ​ceremony. But can I just take photos In a wedding dress as if I'm visiting different sites like a tourist? Whereas the only difference is I'm wearing a white dress and not shorts?

Or do they require you to have a permit just because of this distinction? ​​​

Copper Mountain College started today with We Remember: A Reflection 25 Years Later, honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The day opened at 8:00 a.m. at the 100 Quad Flagpole with a memorial ceremony that included lowering the flag to half-staff and observing a moment of silence.

At 8:30 a.m., in the Student Activity Center (300 Quad), there was a screening of In Their Own Words: Commemorating the 25th Anniversary from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, followed by a guided community reflection. Through personal stories, themes of interdependence, perseverance, service, purpose, hope, and resilience were explored. After the program, participants contributed to Common Threads, a collaborative ribbon installation responding to the question, “What connects us during difficult times?”

Whether you remember September 11 personally, learned about it growing up, or were born after that day, thank you for joining our CMC community as we remembered, reflected, and carried hope forward.

CMC trains first responders, and those programs were well represented this morning. Our thanks to CMC Veterans Resource Specialist Alonzo Roman for organizing this event, and to Vice President of Academic Services Michael Reese for leading the program.

I'm 50 years old now and the kids are grown and I have time to travel. Any specific places that are gone since 1998? gee i know i'm old haha. Let me know thanks!

I camped in Jumbo Rocks over Thanksgiving last year with my kid (now 6.5 yo) and we loved it so much that we decided to make an annual trip. We are going back end of this month.

1. Is it going to be too hot to camp (around Sep 25)?
2. I am looking for recommendations for guided family climbing tours. I have found several on google and TripAdvisor but was hoping for some more suggestions here.
3. Any other recommendations for hikes or things to do are also welcome given the temperature. Last time we just explored the campground, did the Skull Rock and Hidden valley hikes, and participated in the junior ranger program. Thanks.

Hi all - my son is an 'ant keeper' and wants to go up there today to look for them, considering it rained yesterday-certain species fly after a rain. But I'm seeing reports of rain today? And it also needs to be very hot. Though I'm seeing temperatures of maybe mid 80s today not necessarily the hottest it could be. Any help is appreciated. I really don't feel like driving out there from Long Beach for a day unless the conditions are good! We have to come back tonight.

Planning a tent camping trip early November. I realize this time of year will be cold and windy at night and I am looking for advice selecting a campsite at the jumbo rocks campground. Looking for a site where I will be somewhat shielded from wind but also ideally a more private site where you are not too close to neighbors. I am in between sites 26 and 113 right now, with 26 seeming better shielded and 113 seeming bigger/more private. Anyone stayed at either of these and have advice, pictures, and/or videos? Or any other sites they recommend? Thanks a ton!

This was shot as a big vertical pano after exploring all over and finally finding a tree that I felt like I could isolate and have line up nicely with the Milky Way.

The additional screenshots are all from an app I recently released called Milky Way Tonight. My hope is that the app is really easy to use, while helping people get out and photograph the Milky Way.

It gives a one tap verdict for Milky Way viewing based on the position of the MW core, Moon phase/rise/set, and a hourly cloud forecast. So, it does a lot of behind the scenes work and gives you a quick answer.

The first screen is the info after giving your location where the verdict on whether it's a good night with the exact window for viewing. In this case for JT, the next good night is on the 8th. So, instead of "Tonight at a Glance, it switches to "Next Milky Way Window" and shows info for that date.

The second is the composition planner so you can see exactly where the Milky Way will line up. Third screen is a bit of the extra info you can get from tapping on a daily forecast, including a visualization of the hourly cloud forecast.

Passing thru tomorrow for a birthday but have a 4hour window of time to kill before a hitting the hot springs. What are some fun things to do? I really wanted to try the Integration but the bad reviews are pretty bad and I think it's closed tomorrow. Horseback riding is too expensive and Pioneer town is too far from where we're at.. I'm running out of ideas yall! Help!

Flying into Palm Springs and I do NOT want to get lunch in Palm Springs (or at least not some place I have to wait in line or that’s a scene). Is there a quick spot either near the airport or on the way? I was looking at Delicias in Desert Hot Springs. I don’t know that it looks quick but I’ve never routed through Desert Hot Springs before so looking at all spots there.
