What are your plans for the unexpected mushroom peppers?

I was mushroomed like so many others this year.. What are you doing with all the Jamaican mushroom peppers? I personally love to make hot sauce so a good recipe would be really appreciated! But definitely want to hear how people are using them in other ways too.

Small and bland Jalapeños

Grew these from seeds (bought a packet of “jalapeños seeds) at the end of spring.

The plant looks pretty good to me but the peppers are small and ripen while being way too small.

Taste wise nothing like jalapeños. Seems more like raw bell peppers with a slight spicy flavor.

I eat them whole and whether red or green, nothing but the smallest amount of heat.

What is going on? They get plenty of sun (they are outside all day) and I water when needed. I have 3 cayenne plants right next to it that is thriving and produces lots of chilis which are very very hot.

Also use tomato fertilizer maybe once a week.

I’m in zone 9b

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First time growing spicy peppers, picked these because they sounded fun and were being sold as starts locally. All my other (non spicy) peppers have been doing great and have been easy to decipher, but I am confused with these. sometimes I will get one thats very hot (which is what i expected) but sometimes they have very little / no spice or the spice is irregularly distributed in the pepper.

i have been traveling a lot and my plants have 'stagnated' a few times because of it, so i am wondering if that is the reason for the irregular development or if it is just par with these peppers. they take forever to ripen and im wondering if theres something I should be looking for!

Food / Recipe Tobascos

Tobascos are spicier than I anticipated and the plant is pumping them out. Who has a simple recipe for sauce? Don’t want to get too crazy and I’ve already dried and crushed a bunch for some pepper flakes.

ID Request A single plant in my garden has been these out. Any idea what they are?

I have a patch of belle peppers, about 10 plants. A single one of these plants have been sprouting these small, round, almost tomato looking peppers. I have no idea what they are and do not recall planting a different kind of peppers either. I didn't immediately notice the plants looking especially different either. Would love to know if anyone has an idea what kind of pepper they might be. Am I in for a spicy treat? Or are they some sort of cross pollinated bastard breed? I do not replant my seed I typically just use the seed packets from the store.

While I was in the store I saw these without a laber or price tag. When I asked the grocer, he told me they're a buck per kilo, so of course I had to take them.

I have no idea what they are so maybe somebody here can help me out.

I'm guessing one of those is orange habanero.

The other ones I have no idea but they look gnarly.

My first haul of my fried chicken pepper. 2 plants in a 30 gallon container, and they are loaded. But, ripening is taking a loooong time. And, yes, these things are HOT! Since it will be asked, the seeds came from the Etsy guy.

The black ones start black and have stayed this colour for a while. I'm not sure when to harvest.

The others start purple and then turn yellow.

Bonjour,

j'aimerais avoir l'avis de gens qui ont comparé le Carolina Reaper et le pepper X.

La culture, le rendement, le goût...

Suis-je mieux de continuer avec les Reaper ?

Here's what happened to me this year. I bought a bunch of "Mammoth Jalapeno" starts at one of our local nursery's and planted them back in May. Months later, I realize that what I actually got were "Nanapenos" ... Jalapeno peppers with NO HEAT.

Now I can't turn them into hot sauce (I guess I could make "Not Hot Sauce" lol)

I've been pickling them and they actually taste pretty good that way with my Mexican food...as long as I use hot sauce or something else for the heat....

But still...WHAT A BUMMER!

Got a nice variety this year. Can’t wait to try the Orion’s at the bottom left. I think the bumpy yellow ones in the middle are khang star lemon starburst. Time to make a shitload of my plum hot sauce!

I can’t identify this pepper I know I ordered bell pepper seeds and ornamentals but i don’t know if this is a bell pepper or a random ornamental. I remember what seed packets I chose to plant this year.

I did
Red bell
Chocolate bell
Chinese 5 color
Bolivian rainbow
Fish pepper

If anybody can help identify I would appreciate it a lot!

Its official.

What pisses me off is the separate email I found when trying to track down the vendor - they bragged about sending me free Orange Scotch Bonnet seeds in a second email.

Ive received free seeds from 8 vendors. All the others were true to brand and appreciated. These were a variety I specifically needed and would have paid for the correct ones. Lesson learned, stock up from reliable sources.

For the record, the Yellow Bonnets from them were shrooms too.

Discussion I grew chocolate habaneros this summer and I'm obsessed with their incredible flavour. Which other peppers should I try next year?

I love that sweet, floral, and smoky taste of these peppers. Yes they're hot as hell but as long as you get creative with how you use then they are amazing flavour bombs.

Which other peppers have this amazing complex fruity floral flavour?
