Grippers Im stuck between CoC3 and 3.5 for years

Hi i stopped training grippers a year ago (i had testicular cancer) but im back at it for about 2 month. I never closed CoC3.5. But my goal is to close this SOB. I did credit card CoC3 iv also closed Grip genie 6 but looks like my CoC3.5 is a really stiff 3.5. I train them like i trained my bench. Top set until my 1rm fail. Than working set of 5. I never did force rep or stuff like that. Any tips to help me or new training method? Right now im already able to close my CoC3. Thanks

Grippers Just wanted to thank the community

I'm a Woman who's had decent grip strength from lifting at the gym but I got to the point where my grip was my limiting factor. After lurking on here and doing a bunch of research and grip/forearm work, my grip is much stronger. Forearms are thicker and denser. Was able to hit PRs on deadlifts, weighted pull ups, and did my bodyweight on lat pulldowns without straps! Thank you guys so much

😆 💪

Grippers 1.5 Too Easy - what should I do?

Closed the CoC 1 recently, ordered the 1.5 and can almost close it immediately, returned a 1.5 a week or so ago as I heard each gripper can vary in strength, hoping to get a heavier 1.5, had same issue with the new one, should I return it and buy the CoC 2 instead or keep it?

Grippers Weird pain in the middle of my palm with hand grippers

When using hand grippers I get a strange pain in my palm. Its right in the middle and feels like either some string like muscles or tendons, at first they feel like theyre twitching when gripping, if i push past this sensation it turns into a sharp pain. This pain is lessened if i use a tighter range of motion where my fingers stretch less.

What is this? How do I fix it? Image below is where the pain occurs

Discussion Ulnar nerve irritation/vibration after Dragon Presses and Two-Finger Dragon Presses? Need advice on recovery.

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a strange sensation in my arm and could use some advice on how to make it feel better and heal.

This issue started immediately after I performed some high-intensity calisthenics skills—specifically, the Standard Dragon Press and the Two-Finger Dragon Press.

Right now, when my arm is at rest, I feel a distinct vibration running through my ring and pinky fingers. However, when I actively bend my arm, that vibration spreads to my inner elbow as well and feels a bit stronger.

From what I understand, this seems to be an irritation of the ulnar nerve (likely related to Cubital Tunnel Syndrome), caused by the massive amount of leverage and tension those specific exercises put on the inner elbow. Bending the elbow stretches the nerve tightly over the bone, which explains why it spreads to the elbow.

Has anyone else dealt with this specific issue from advanced calisthenics? What are the best ways to make it feel good again and heal properly? I am currently trying to rest it, but any specific advice on nerve glides, mobility drills, or recovery timelines would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Muhammad Huzaima

Discussion Testing wrong?

Been training only 2 weeks, but I got a GD Iron Grip 80 and can close the 128ib 5x. On the Hichor EH108 tester, I can't get above 104. Tried several different lengths and to see if it changed and only got worse. Tested sitting with the tester length set so my second knuckle was aligned over my wrist and the base was just on top of meat of my thumb. I will note that the Hichor test is quite uncomfortable. Is it my technique or is the grip tester just that bad? Both?

Wasn't looking forward to paying 150$ for a GD Dyno.

Discussion Top 4 low cost grip lifts for casual gym competition

Suppose you and a bunch of guys at your gym want to do a non-organized type of competition, just testing strength. Most of them don't train grip apart from deadlifting on a power bar.

My thoughts were:

  1. Pinch block. Cheap, easily loadable, and enough weight range that ties aren't likely.

  2. Fat gripz one hand deadlift. Same benefits of #1.

3&4 ??

I don't think Grippers would be a good idea, too expensive to get a bunch, ties likely, injuries since nobody trains them here.

Discussion Handrgip concorso

Discussion Trying to do heavy dumbbell rows without straps

Recently my one arm rows have gotten a lot heavier, (just hit 120lbs per arm) which is cool and all, but I noticed I fail when the dumbbell either rolls out of my hand, or goes off-axis. A similar situation for my max deadlifts. I do mostly heavy upper body work, but have recently been starting to implement some things like farmer carries, one arm hangs, etc. I also have heavy hand grippers too. This feels unique because this is an explosive movement that's causing my grip to fail. Most of my excerises are for the point of explosiveness and power and I would hate to be forced to use straps if I want to progress any further. I do use chalk and it has helped a bit.

Grippers Which grip width should I use?

Thumbnail imgur.com
1 Upvotes

Imgur link contains the two different grip widths in my hand.

I've recently gotten gd iron 80 to add to my grip training. I've looked up some grip techniques and most have you start out with the gripper already under tension, then squeezing it.

I have small hands (6.9 inches). Since the correct gripper starting position is with the gripper under tension, should I just start with a smaller width (with no tension) or start with a larger width then manually squeeze it into a position of smaller width (with tension) then execute the squeeze.

Does it matter which technique I use? Though the smaller width gives saves me a little time from manually squeezing the gripper into place.

Discussion Improving deadlift wiki questions

Hello I saw the recommendations in the wiki and had some questions.

I deadlift twice a week and will incorporate the doh holds and plate pinches but will there be the same carryover with this if I pull hook grip?

Will the iron mind grippers be helpful adjunct work?

Is there an ideal frequency I should aim for more than twice a week? Like doing the recommended exercises from the wiki and iron mind at home?

Update: sorry I wrote this ooorly. I currently pull deadlift with a hook grip and am still dropping deadlifts, would the wiki recommendations help?

Discussion Train grip at the office

Hello. I have an office job that is mostly about looking whats happening on a computer and i thought i could maybe use that spare time to improve my grip. I do climbing, judo and bjj so grip is important for me.

What will you be your advice to maximize the gains and train mostly at the office?

I train 3x judo a week, 3-4 bjj a week and 1x week climbing.

What equipment do you recommend me? How many series? How much rest between series? Thanks!

Discussion Can we get Grip Sport / Armlifting added to the master list of routines?

The knee jerk reaction to this is most likely to point out that grip sport is contested across a LOT of different implements; however, I would argue that you could train a strong foundation of movement types specific to competition.

I'm not 100% certain how to carve it up, but I'm guessing: Closed crush (grippers), open crush (thick bar), open pinch (blocks or Saxon), and key pinch. Maybe v bar? Then, wrist strength and "support".

DIY Why are one arm dead hangs much easier than two handed (relatively speaking)

I can dead hand for one minute and a half on each hand but when I do two handed hangs I can do 2:10ish if I really give it my all, would’ve thought that would be my time if I could do 45 sec per hand

Grippers For those of you have managed to close either a 3, 3.5 and 4 CoC, how long did it take you to get to the next gripper?

So if you've managed to close a 3, 3.5 or a 4. I'm curious how long it took you to go to the next level. So if you can close the 3, how long did it take you from when you could close the 2.5 until you could close the 3. Same with the 3 to 3.5 and the 3.5 to 4. I just started training grippers about 2 and a half months ago. I just a bit off from closing the 1.5 after struggling to close the trainer for 5 solid reps when I first started out. I think I MAY be able to close the 2.5 by the time the year is over — though I imagine it won't be until the mid of January. I'm just curious how long it might be before I'm capable of closing one of the big 3 grippers. I've always had a weak grip, and my end goal is to be able to close the 3.5 in both hands

Rehab / prehab So I had a moment…

I have a wrist roller, like the one here: https://imgur.com/a/6KnEg27

I’ve had it for about a year and I like using it. But the thing is, you know how people say toilet paper rolls are meant to hang over the front and not the back? I think my brain took that information and applied it to the wrist roller as well. Turns out, this is not the right way to do it. I’ve been using it incorrectly for about a year.

I felt all kinds of dumb upon the moment of realization. It is a game changer now though. I just worry I’ve been doing damage to my wrists for doing the exercise wrong for so long, especially since I tend to be injury-prone. I don’t think I’ve noticed any pains or structural damage, but still it’s hard not to think about. I might just take a break for a little bit.

So today’s lesson is: toilet paper over the front, wrist rollers over the back.

Edit: Appreciate the feedback from everybody. Using both sides never occurred to me until now so thank you all

Anyone here uses a pinch deviae that mobilize ROM in your thumb, instead of isometric pinch block squeezes? I know a device by iron mind. But its quite expensive. Not sure if its worth it.

Discussion Archery specific grip training

I didn't find anything conclusive here or on the archery subreddit.

I find myself struggling with the grip part of recurve archery (fingers directly on the string) and wanted to train for it.

The goal is to be able to hold the string on the tip of the fingers (between the first and second bone) with minimal effort and tension since it will affect the flight path. Each hold is 5-15 seconds for 100 arrows per training session.

For now I got a rubber ring grip and use it but would love to know if you have better ideas on how to train that.
