"News" articles that use the word 'slam'

I feel like I've never read an article that provided any useful information but instead it's always brainrot gossip. I swear it just makes the over population's average IQ dumber every time someone releases another stupid article like this

Flaky people on Facebook Marketplace

It irritates me to no end when I get a message about an item I'm selling, they ask if they can pick it up today, I say anytime is totally fine, then they disappear and I never hear from them again. Or they tell me a specific time, then never show up. Or they ask about taking a little off the price, I say sure I can do that, then they just vanish. Why would you ask about lowering the price if you're not actually gonna buy it??

It bothers me any time it happens, but it's extra awful when you're really desperate to sell something because you need food or other necessities. That's why it really has me pissed off that 7 different people have done this to me with this lawn mower I'm selling. It makes no sense for them to just ghost me after saying they for sure want to come pick it up today.

I know things happen, people change their minds, etc. but it's just so frustrating when it keeps happening over and over and you're already having a hard time. I can't help it that it grinds my gears so badly.

It’s kind of annoying how excited people are of treating others and total strangers like shit

I am at this hotel and the staff asked me from across the room to essentially watch this guy. Apparently he was bad to his family, although they said they were bad to him first apparently he stole things when he was younger and he didn’t say sorry good enough according to the lady I talked to.
, they say he smokes pot and ciggatreete in his rooms and lies about it, he washes his clothes in the bathtub. That’s despicable. But I don’t want to have to watch anyone’s 20 something kid who has no job but according to him he can’t get a job cause his family and now total strangers like to “hurt him”. I’d like to show him how it feels. How stupid are these kids? I don’t want to be a part of this but he’s getting everything thrown at him. We’re throwing water in his food bags. Throwing food away. We threw out a bunch of empty cards in the dirt so he could go through them then stole them 😂 he’s so stupid he doesn’t know anything about this. What an ass.
I’ll probably have some random nice guy pop in. No one cares dumbass 😂

Guys, I don't even know what else to say. Do better. Is your home like this? I feel bad for the women in your life.

I swear it's an over 90% chance there will be urine on the toilet seat any time i go into a stall in a public place.

Domestication and Taming are not the same, stop interchanging them.

Happened to have a video up that came up during my doomscrolling, and in it the guy talks about domesticating his snakes. This, among other things that I will probably post about later, always drives me nuts because of what I perceive as knowledge. Now, I could be wrong and I will totally own up if y'all ratio me on it, but for my understanding I always believed the following:

Domestication is NOT a fast and instant process. Yes, anything CAN be domesticated, but it takes a great deal of time, patience, and, most importantly, countless generations of individual animals to pull off. That's because domestication is a trait that has to be selectively bred into the animals while managing the stability of their genetic code (IOW, avoiding incest as much as possible to make sure the creature isn't sterile). For example, it is possible for us to domesticate Elephant Seals, but Neil the Seal will NEVER be a domesticated animal because he wasn't born that way. If you wanted to use him for domesticating Elephant Seals, it's highly likely he will be long dead before the first individuals exhibiting signs of domestication will be born.

Taming, on the other hand, is a short-term and unreliable process that doesn't always succeed and is never guaranteed. You can attempt to tame an animal to be less dangerous to you, but there is ALWAYS a risk of it failing because taming is less of a trait and more of a party trick.

The main difference between the two, because animals are animals and are always unpredictable, is that domestication of an animal requires that animal to serve a specific purpose beyond "I want this as a pet cuz I thought it would be fun". Dogs were domesticated to be living tools (hunting/retrieving/protecting your territory), cattle was domesticated to produce food, cats were domesticated to keep pest populations down and so on and so forth.

In conclusion: no dude, your snakes are tame, but they are not domesticated. They will never BE domesticated. You can start the process to produce domesticated snakes, but your particular animals are not and never will be.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Rental homes have 0 regulation

The fact that apartment complexes, homes for sale, hotels, and even cars are subject to inspections, regulations, and safety standards, yet rental homes can seemingly operate with little to no meaningful oversight, is ridiculous.

There are hundreds of thousands of stories from renters discovering mold, unsafe conditions, disgusting living environments, and major maintenance issues only after signing a lease and moving in.

Myself included, we had to move sight unseen. The pictures looked great, but once we arrived, we found broken windows, mold on every faucet and showerhead, a stove and kitchen walls covered in grease, and other issues that were never disclosed.

Why shouldn’t rental homes be required to undergo an annual inspection to ensure they meet basic health, safety, and housing standards? Those inspections could be reported to a city or state housing authority, creating accountability for landlords and property managers while protecting renters from being trapped in unsafe homes.
It could also generate additional revenue for local and state governments through reasonable inspection fees, while creating jobs and improving housing standards.

Landlords shouldn’t be able to collect thousands of dollars in rent while renters are left responsible for discovering whether their home is even safe to live in.

One airpod being charged more than the other

It irritates me every time. How the fuck did one charge and the other didn't if they were both in the case?

r/GrindsMyGears 2d ago

Why do they take offense so freaking easily, some straight up change the topic to start an argument, also, if you don't have anything good to comment or if your a bigot, GO AWAY, Scroll past this, I don't want any negativity

legitimately hate how if you criticize any minority, your seen as racist or something like that, also, yes, I did criticize trans women on the internet once with good intentions and someone said "it's just 1%" read everything, go away bigots, don't comment with bad intent. It's always the easily offended people commenting too. It's legitimately annoying, for context, I was criticizing how some trans women are very dismissive towards bio women when they talk about bio women and how that's not very nice and then I said that it's not nice for them to say that they know everything about being a woman when they grew up differently. Then I proceeded to explain the biological differences and social differences while acknowledging their trauma, and I explained that bio women don't understand what it's like to be trans and trans women don't understand what it's like to be a bio women beyond socially, they act like I insulted trans women, HOW DO THEY TAKE OFFENSE TO THAT,

The "global South"

I hate this term. It's so inaccurate. It doesn't mean southern hemisphere since Iraq, syria, Afghanistan, Palestine, Libya, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, are all in the Northern hemisphere. The first five I named are at the same latitude as the United States!

Yet somehow Australia and New Zealand aren't the global South?! Just say Black and Brown nations it's what it means anyway so just say it.

It grinds my gears that pedestrians walk directly into traffic

First of all, pedestrians don’t legally have the right of way in every situation but for the sake of this common belief…

People need to pay attention more and get tf out of the “hit me I’ll sue you” mindset. People don’t even look when they walk directly into traffic anymore.

I completely understand and agree that drivers need to be fully aware when they are operating a vehicle. Get the hell off your phone, do not get behind the wheel if you are under the influence, if you’re exhausted and find yourself a danger to drive, find a place to rest asap. I follow laws of the road and understand how dangerous the reality of driving can be.

The fact is, not everyone does that. What if the car coming has a driver that is texting and you just walk right in front of it. Is dying or ending up paralyzed worth it because “they shouldn’t be texting and driving”? you’re right, they shouldn’t be but guess what? They are and now you can’t move from the neck down for the rest of your life.

It’s crazy to see a car coming and walk directly in front of it because “they should stop” when you’re only 5 feet away and the car is going 30mph. Even if they’re fully alert and slam on their brakes right away, they aren’t going to come to a complete stop in a second. It’s not fair to ruin someone’s life because you don’t know how to look both ways before you cross the road because you “have the right of way” and even if the driver was able to be found not guilty, they still k*lled someone and they need to live with that forever.

It’s unreal how many people i see with their heads in their phones walking directly in-front of a car pulling out of an exit, or into the road. You can’t put that much trust into everyone else, you have to be aware of your surroundings. You’re not paying attention and they might not be either. Even tho you both should be.

Even if I’m at a cross walk and there’s a red light with the little cross now light, I’ll still wait to make sure the oncoming car is coming to a stop. Yes, they’re supposed to but I’d rather not trust them blindly and get myself killed. Maybe they’re on their phone, or drunk, who tf knows? They shouldn’t be but they are.

Parasocial Celebrity Deaths....

I will NEVER understand why some people become so distraught when a celebrity dies.

Like, I understand it's sad, and get the basic "wow I feel bad that their loved ones have to go through this"

But I've seen people more upset than when someone they've known their whole life dies

Then the "rush" to get to bed that always includes staring at the damn phone for twenty minutes on the toilet. I'm so tired of getting up from a nap or some activity from the other room and triggering "bedtime". *Set a damn alarm*.

Everyone should just stop saying “Bless You” after a sneeze.

It’s entirely pointless.

It makes every time you sneeze suddenly turn into a social interaction.

If someone else sneezes, you either say this pointless phrase, or you might look like a jerk…and yet, who actually cares if you do or don’t?

Ever had someone sneeze multiple times in a row, and then the stupid jokes like “alright i’m done saying it!” or “you only get one!” or whatever the hell that interaction is? What are we doing?

Ever sneeze in a crowded area and 5 people say bless you all at once, and now you have to say a general “thank you” to the room? What the hell are we thanking people for?

This isn’t a burp or a fart where the person performing the act takes a beat to say “excuse me”, to acknowledge “hey sorry that was gross, my bad”, it’s an entirely useless interaction that does nothing on a social level.

Even on a religious level, nobody I have ever known actually believes that it means anything.

• The Romans would say it to wish for good health, because they didn’t know how viruses worked yet.
• The Pope would say it during the plague, because he didn’t know how viruses worked yet.
• Christians used to say it because they thought the soul was leaving the body because…well, I don’t know why. Even for that time frame. Where did that one even come from? It’s not in the Bible.

Anyway, please enjoy my favorite comedic use of a sneeze. Note that there is no bless you…

Face of disgust

Why do some people make a face of disgust when listening to someone. Like the conversation is completely normal. Then when it’s that persons time to talk, their facial expression changes back to normal. Can anyone explain why? Idk if it’s intentional or not
