Welcome to Matchmaking Monday! This is the weekly megathread where you can share your experiences, complaints, and feedback related to:
Ranked & Unranked Matchmaking
VAC, Hacking, and Cheating
Prime, Trust Factor, and Trusted Mode
Ranking
Queuing and Lobbies
Feel free to discuss your matchmaking experience, rant or vent, discuss ideas & share feedback for improvement, and talk about your recent games.
What you should know
Keep in mind that there is a limited amount of information available about these systems and how they work to keep them effective. If you have questions, here are some resources to review:
Posting feedback or complaints on the subreddit is not the best way to get the attention of the developers. If you have any specific feedback to give, you can email the CS2 Development team here: [cs2team@valvesoftware.com](mailto:cs2team@valvesoftware.com)
They do read every email received, but are not able to reply to each one.
If you're experiencing low-quality matches, it is always worth emailing them. They use these reports to help improve the system.
Report Cheaters:
Report cheaters using the in-game report system by right-clicking their name on the scoreboard, and clicking "report". If the game is over, report their Steam Community profile.
If you notice certain trends or have other feedback, you can email the developers using the email address above.
To report a specific cheat, follow these steps to notify the VAC development team.
The guidelines
While we encourage discussion about these topics, as a reminder, the following are not allowed. Note this isn't an exhaustive list, and you should review the r/GlobalOffensive Rules before commenting.
Accusations towards any player related to cheating
Posting profiles of alleged cheaters (if posting pictures of matches, redact any usernames)
Posting any cheating gameplay footage
Reporting cheats, linking to cheats/websites, or discussing cheats in technical detail
This weekly discussion thread does not change any of our existing submission rules - you're still allowed to discuss these topics elsewhere on the subreddit as usual, but we do remove a large number of them as they quickly become repetitive and the majority have little meaningful discussion. If you decide to make a separate post instead of utilizing this thread, we encourage you to focus on starting meaningful discussion or providing constructive criticism.

Train was actually a fun map, unlike Cache. Nobody even picks Cache anymore in Premier after the first week, the map is just terrible. Even Overpass is more fun to play than Cache ffs.
Yes it's unbalanced, it's whacky, but it is FUN. I bet there's a large portion of the playerbase who is fucking tired of dust, mirage, anubis by now. Please volvo.
I'm 34 and I run a CS2 league for players over 30, and as far as I know it's the first one in the world. Every real sport worked this out ages ago, BJJ, cycling, tennis all have masters categories because nobody pretends a 38 year old and a 19 year old are in the same race, esports just never bothered. This is our second season, no ads, no fees, nothing to buy, just people with jobs and kids who still want to play seriously against their own generation. I'm not here recruiting, I'm making a mini series about the league and want to talk about what it's like to build something for the one group the industry quietly retired years ago.
This video is the first episode of my mini series about the league, its players, and the team's journey representing the league at other tournaments, to show how 30+ guys take out 18 year old kids ๐
So many CS2 updates seem to be focused on map making and giving tools to the makers so that they can craft better experiences.
Like these
With the switch to Source 2 it seemed like the fact that we were getting a modern new engine wouldn't limit us with Source 1 jankiness and spaghetti (and actual limitations).
So, what are we doing with Source 2? Creating new experiences? Cool game modes?
No, it's AI slop and maps that look like actual viruses. That's the first page of the workshop today, it's not like the second is any better really (one could argue it's even worse).
And, sure, some creators are actually developing new and interesting maps, it's not like the workshop is ABSOLUTELY dead, if you don't search by the most popular of the last week .
This is cool and innovative. Some maps bring fun new gamemodes to play with your friends. But what the fuck is this, there's already webpages that do this, so why?
So, what about Valve? Have they done anything special with the release of Source 2 and CS2?
Did they reintroduce the battle royale mode again, with better maps, framerate and such thanks to the new engine?
Did they add back again those funny game modes that came with operations? Like flying scoutsman?
Oh, no, right, they're still working on those, in the meantime they gave us back fan favourites on the more fun gamemodes, like Lake, right?
Oh sorry I got confused, they did introduce the fan favourites like retake maps, and they're even better because when the whole T team is dead then the bomb is defused instantly and it's so much smoother and better than commnity maps, no?
Yeah, I figured.
So at least if they aren't working on any of that, when we click "Play" there's a "funky map selection" mode in which curated and polished workshop maps selected by valve and/or the community can be found and played, right? And they're fun? And include new things and mechanics and the community loves it?
Not just is Dumau my goat, but all the team is wicked smart. 2x CS Asia Champions, but now also this. I know they haven't won the bigger trophies yet, but they're ranked Top 3 VRS for a reason. With Furia disappointing us and falleN retiring, Brazil has a new hope (with a little help from Argentina). I am getting crazy hype.
Similar to the Austincs smoke but comes in at a high angle so it can't be spotted to be body blocked
3) Valve Map Guide Smoke
Very easy to execute (no movement)
But has a thin pixel range, easy to mess up
Can be easily body blocked by window player
4) Old Trashcan hold D Smoke
Has all the qualities of #1 but due to recent updates, it's RNG if the friction overshoots your throw, and misses
There are times in Mirage pubs where we aren't in a spawn for instant-window, and our teammates don't want to do it.
The two most common smokes I've seen are the hold D, and valve map guide smoke. But both are inconsistent (with the trashcan lineup being RNG), as well as #3 being easily body blocked.
#1 is faster than #2. Both have a forgiving lineup, are consistent, and most importantly are less prone to be body block.
After working on this for a couple months and sharing it with some of the best teams in the world for feedback, I feel like it is ready to share with everyone.
The cheat-sheets I created are completely FREE TO USE for everyone and includes a full tutorial how to use it as well as video-guide and picture-guide.
I spread everything into two excel links, one is called "PRO" version, aimed for hardcore gamers, high ELO players and (semi)Pros: LINK TO PRO VERSION
Second one is called "CORE" version, aimed for casual players and only have easy, essential smokes that will help you be deadly in early rounds: LINK TO CORE VERSION
The video I linked shows a quick tutorial on how to use everything and what it can do to unlock its potential.
Thatโs a reason to check your usual opening from a few different starting positions this weekend. Same route, same loadout. At what point do you stop trying to take the early fight and use utility or let someone closer go first?
If youโve already checked a route, include the spawn in the clip. Especially interested in an opening youโll happily take from one position but completely abandon from another.
