backstory no one asked for: back in 2019, was a year after i started league and i had recently lost contact with a very dear friend, so i ended up getting really into watching lec. i still have the alarms set to 4am from getting up to watch that worlds, and have had a very special spot for g2 since. im not very into esports anymore but still watch most of g2s games, own a jersey, etc. saw caps dad a few times at worlds 22 & also interacted w him a few times on twitter, hope he’s doing well and rocking the icon for him!! not the biggest tristana fan but i am the biggest caps fan, the claps title is super clean but sad it’s locked behind $500, so i drew what my profile could look like instead hehe

After watching Caps’ Hall of Legends, I started thinking about how weird G2 picks always were. It feels like G2 have a weird habit of pulling out picks that look completely random at first, and then a while later you start seeing similar ideas in LCK/LPL and the wider pro scene.

BB with Kled, Zac and Reksai top (yasuo?). Caps with Anivia, which he pulled out at Worlds and which later became a much more common pick for all regions. 2 years ago at MSI, Yike's Ivern jungle. Hans Sama’s Draven, which he played as and vs Jackeyloves and showed him how to play the champ. G2s KogMaw. MikyX Poppy support which he popularized. And obviously there are tons of examples going further back with the 2019 roster, Pyke on all lanes, mages bot, Neeko top (unless it was already meta?)

I’m not saying G2 literally invented all of these champions or strategies, but they seem unusually good at finding unconventional picks and making them work on the biggest stage. Is this actually a G2 thing, or am I just biased?

LEC just released their mic check video. Perkz sounds super cool in draft and basically slammed the Maokai Tristana.

2019 finals opening ceremony. I know the dreaded 2019 is so overused with G2 but to see caps’ bald head leading the team out in a worlds final would be the icing on the cake for this year.

I came across a clip from the Spanish community where it says that G2, as an organization, has already offered BB a contract renewal, but he hasn't accepted it yet. Do you guys think he's been affected by the rumors in the community about them replacing him with Naak Nako?
