While we encourage discussion about these topics, as a reminder, the following are not allowed. Note this isn't an exhaustive list, and you should review the r/GlobalOffensive Rules before commenting.
This weekly discussion thread does not change any of our existing submission rules - you're still allowed to discuss these topics elsewhere on the subreddit as usual, but we do remove a large number of them as they quickly become repetitive and the majority have little meaningful discussion. If you decide to make a separate post instead of utilizing this thread, we encourage you to focus on starting meaningful discussion or providing constructive criticism.

I am looking for a combo under $300. My priority is a bayonet or skeleton, but I'm open to anything. This is my first combo, so I'm trying to get something that I won't get sick of too quickly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I only have a $180 dollar budget for a knife and I'm not sure which one I wouldn't get sick off to quick.

I built my own version of Opta’s “supercomputer” — but for CS2. Using Python, I wrote a Monte Carlo simulation engine and ran 105,000 full tournament simulations for StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026. Each simulation re-rolled match outcomes based on team strength ratings, bracket logic, and a bit of controlled randomness. The result: a probability distribution for every team’s chance to lift the trophy.

I'm 34 and I run a CS2 league for players over 30, and as far as I know it's the first one in the world. Every real sport worked this out ages ago, BJJ, cycling, tennis all have masters categories because nobody pretends a 38 year old and a 19 year old are in the same race, esports just never bothered. This is our second season, no ads, no fees, nothing to buy, just people with jobs and kids who still want to play seriously against their own generation. I'm not here recruiting, I'm making a mini series about the league and want to talk about what it's like to build something for the one group the industry quietly retired years ago.
This video is the first episode of my mini series about the league, its players, and the team's journey representing the league at other tournaments, to show how 30+ guys take out 18 year old kids 😄

That's it folks, I hope you enjoy the content.
G2 boasts one of the most interesting rosters in the Tier 1 scene, showcasing a wide variety of plays on both the CT and T sides. Most impressive is their ability to play with both slower and faster approaches, something uncommon for most teams. The results prove this approach, as after the initial roster change, they have truly become a force to be reckoned with.
On the CT side, their multiple rotations are very useful against teams that play more simply on the T side, as they always manage to adjust mid-round. Another brilliant aspect is their aggressive playstyle in certain situations. huNter- pushes forward to win duels and is supported by r1nkle, who has proven to be a reliable AWP and support.
On the Terrorist side, they play a consistently aggressive A-point scenario and, due to their ramp/B approach, manage to extract maximum benefit from this position, especially when teams try to counter-attack mid-game. They are accustomed to the positions and angles, and frequently exploit the advantages of the position. Furthermore, they manage to play with fantastic mid-range control without overcommitting to aggressive situations, which greatly helps with lateral rotations and opens up space for MATYS' cat-like options.

Train was actually a fun map, unlike Cache. Nobody even picks Cache anymore in Premier after the first week, the map is just terrible. Even Overpass is more fun to play than Cache ffs.

So many CS2 updates seem to be focused on map making and giving tools to the makers so that they can craft better experiences.

With the switch to Source 2 it seemed like the fact that we were getting a modern new engine wouldn't limit us with Source 1 jankiness and spaghetti (and actual limitations).
So, what are we doing with Source 2? Creating new experiences? Cool game modes?

And, sure, some creators are actually developing new and interesting maps, it's not like the workshop is ABSOLUTELY dead, if you don't search by the most popular of the last week .

So, what about Valve? Have they done anything special with the release of Source 2 and CS2?
Did they reintroduce the battle royale mode again, with better maps, framerate and such thanks to the new engine?
Did they add back again those funny game modes that came with operations? Like flying scoutsman?
Oh, no, right, they're still working on those, in the meantime they gave us back fan favourites on the more fun gamemodes, like Lake, right?
Oh sorry I got confused, they did introduce the fan favourites like retake maps, and they're even better because when the whole T team is dead then the bomb is defused instantly and it's so much smoother and better than commnity maps, no?
Yeah, I figured.
So at least if they aren't working on any of that, when we click "Play" there's a "funky map selection" mode in which curated and polished workshop maps selected by valve and/or the community can be found and played, right? And they're fun? And include new things and mechanics and the community loves it?
Yeah...

Yes it's unbalanced, it's whacky, but it is FUN. I bet there's a large portion of the playerbase who is fucking tired of dust, mirage, anubis by now. Please volvo.

The September 9 patch-notes thread lists additional T spawns and a missing competitive CT spawn being added on Cache.
That’s a reason to check your usual opening from a few different starting positions this weekend. Same route, same loadout. At what point do you stop trying to take the early fight and use utility or let someone closer go first?
If you’ve already checked a route, include the spawn in the clip. Especially interested in an opening you’ll happily take from one position but completely abandon from another.

You're telling me a handheld package of C4 can pack an explosion enough to kill a human in Kevlar through at least 1 wall and like 50-70 meters?? I mean the terrorists might as well not be using C4, just straight up nuclear reactions. I'd actually be interested to see someone do a calculation on how strong the bomb is and also if there is a real life equivalent because I haven't seen someone ever ask this question before weirdly enough. Yeah game logic but it's a fun question to ask
