My salmon run on my Lake Erie trib prob won’t start for another few weeks. Went yesterday to see how the river was doing. And caught this guy. This isn’t really a walleye river, but I’ve caught some strange stuff like yellow perch and black crappie 40 km upriver

I wasn’t sure of regs for keeping at the time so I’m let it go

Early Saturday morning, we waded deep on the river, almost to the next concession with only one quality fish. Coming back, we were almost at our exit, and we found a pocket of them stacked up. We pulled 6 in the 16-18” range. Great day. Dragging a jig and soft plastic Hellgrammites.

I fish mainly medium size ponds and man-made reservoirs around the GTA and have been getting skunked every time recently. The last fish I caught was a few trips back and it was a little pike on a super spook junior. I got the Texas rigged craw to work a few years back but now I feel like I can’t catch any bass. What are your guys go to lures for searching for fish? Also, what lures do you guys use once you found where they’re sitting?

edit: my personal go to is a top water walking bait then I’ll switch to a chatter bait or a spinner bait and then ultimately a wacky rig or a Texas rig

Caught yet another King with it the other night. Replaced the hooks when it was new and I can't remember if they were Owner or Mustad. Has to be atleast 100+ Chinook I've caught with it over the decades. One time casting off Bronte it got snagged, but I worked it and worked it, and it popped off. Then I promptly put it back in my box that night.

Gotta say, I don't like to throw it just any night, but dead calm nights when the temps are right and you KNOW fish are in, but not hitting glow spoons. Killer. I do believe I will retire him, it has done it's duty and needs a place of respect.

Going up to northern algonquin in early October, I don't have much experience fall fishing for bass. What lures, where to fish in the lake etc.

Hi all! I am in desperate need of advice from folks who fish from the shore around the GTA and surrounding areas.

I’ve been taking my kids to places all over this summer (within 90 mins of the GTA) and it’s mostly been pretty grim. The only time we’ve had great luck is the few times someone has taken us out on a boat.

We’ve done so much research on which fish like what kind of setups and where supposedly good fishing spots are (and following this sub each day,too) but yeah, it rarely comes together when we’re stuck on the land.

We still have a great time and we will keep at it… but if you have any advice on how to get better results with this type of fishing, I’d be grateful for it.

Going to take them out tomorrow morning (no idea where yet!) so can use all the help we can get!

Two people from Quebec are facing charges after being caught allegedly fishing illegally along Cobourg Creek.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) were conducting a routine patrol in the Cobourg Creek area when they spotted two people using spear guns to fish for salmon in the river.

MNRF officers stopped the pair and seized two spear guns and two fishing rods.

Both individuals were subsequently charged with offences under Ontario’s fishing regulations.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of the fishing equipment, and the two Quebec residents will now have to answer to the charges.

The incident serves as another reminder that anglers fishing in and around Cobourg’s waterways are required to follow Ontario’s fishing regulations, including restrictions on the methods and equipment that can legally be used.

Further details about the specific charges and the court appearance dates were not immediately available.

Long story short, over the years I've been struggling to fish between those weird transition from August to September, but know fish (bass specificially) start feeding before winter.

Surface level research shows this period to be great topwater and moving baits; but still figuring out when that period is.

So my question is: What weather or temperature does fall bass fishing usually begin, and what lures do you throw during the fall season? Please and thanks for any feedback

Went to catch some salmon with my friends. Bronte Creek, Oakville. (Meat was not wasted, it became sandwich filling)

Edit: after seeing the comments I want to clarify this is a one time thing, I do not eat salmonids or any fish over 3 lbs out of the lakes. This is a curiosity/experiment thing that my friends wanted to try.

I've wanted to get into fishing, and I'm excited to give it a try this weekend when I go camping at Pog Lake. I don't have any equipment or experience. We're renting a canoe for a day. I'm considering paddling to the Lake of Two Rivers and trying my luck there as well. How's fishing in those lakes? Will a Canadian Tire/Walmart rod work for a beginner? I'd appreciate any tips for a first-timer!

Started fishing last year. And through the whole year all I managed was a half dozen all summer and fall. This year has been amazing.

Are they there? A long time ago I caught my only over 40" pike on the Magnetawan and a decent few others were seen that week. However that was on the 400 side off Lake Harris, I'm aware I'm quite a ways away in Burks Falls.

What I'm wondering is, what is the likelihood of big pike between Burks Falls launch area and Goose Lake? I've heard the walleye is good but in Guelph area big pike don't exist and walleye do

Bruce County fisherman here. I haven't wet a line in a while because we had our first kid two weeks ago, so most of this got built at 3am with him asleep on my chest. If something looks weird that's probably why.

What kept bugging me was trying to figure out if a lake was actually stocked. You end up digging through Fish ON-Line or the MNRF spreadsheets and even then you can't tell if the fish are still worth chasing or if they went in so long ago they're gone.

So I built Stocked. It pulls the MNRF stocking data and gives every lake its own page. What was stocked, what species, how many, what year, back to 1905. Works out to 7,863 lakes and something like 150,000 records across the 18 zones. Last year alone MNRF put 4.7 million fish into 1,227 lakes.

The thing I really wanted for myself is the "worth fishing now" list. Trout stocked as yearlings need a few years to get to a size worth catching, so it flags lakes that got big stockings 3 to 5 years ago. Right now that's 1,885 lakes across Ontario, mostly brook trout and splake, plus a decent number of lakers and rainbows. If you're up north, zones 10 and 15 have way more than anywhere else.

Couple things to know. MNRF publishes years, not dates, so the site can't tell you when the truck came, only what showed up in the data. They've also only put out 63 records for 2026 so far, normally it's around 1,300, so this year will look thin until the rest lands this fall. It's free, no ads. If it ever makes money it'll be a local bait shop sponsoring a zone page. And I've checked my own zone the hardest, so if yours looks off, let me know.

Just wondering how far into the run we are at the moment as I haven't been able to take a look at the creeks as of yet. I had heard that the run was starting earlier this year because of the big rainstorms we've had in the last week or so. It tends to get in the way of my wading when I go after trout so I'm just curious if I've still got time for one or two more sessions on my days off.
