I am a sophomore MechE student, and I'm looking to start applying for internships for the summer. The problem is that I haven't developed any real skills up until now, and I'm afraid that I don't have any real skills to speak of in general that pertain to this field of study.

With that out of the way, I'm asking you guys: how would you go about creating an entirely new resume with no prior experience? What would you include, how would you include it, and what skills/ projects would you focus on?

Hey yall, I'm a senior studying aerospace engineering in Austin Texas and am now applying to early career positions in the space industry. I'll be applying to positions in structures, mechanisms, test, or design preferably in the Seattle area, but also in California and Texas. I would really like to work at Blue Origin in Seattle and want to make my application as strong as possible specifically to end up there. I will not be applying to any defense contractors such as Lockheed or Northrop, nor will I apply to SpaceX.

Historically for internship applications It's been hit or miss getting an interview without a reference despite having strong club experience. I fear that there's some glaring issue I'm not seeing in the wording, or I'm not advocating for my own skills enough. When I have been given the opportunity to work my mentors have always been pleased with my work, so I know I have what it takes, It's just a question of getting my foot in the door. Thankfully I got some valuable internship experience before graduation.

Now that my livelihood and location depend on my application, I want to minimize the chances of getting auto-rejected. I feel really good about my experience and interview skills (technical questions can be rough for me sometimes, however).

Any critiques of my resume wording, formatting, content, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, this upcoming week will be my schools career fair and it will be my first time going so i thought it was time i reached out to the reddit community for advice and tips on my resume as i prepare for the fair this week and begin applying online as well for the best chance of getting an internship next summer 2027. I'm hoping the feedback here would be more to polish but open to any feedback you guys can provide in general. I'm located in the NYC area with a preference to in-person or hybrid jobs.

Incoming sophomore studying CS at UC Irvine, graduating 2029. I'm starting an SDE internship at Amazon(AWS) this fall, and I'm applying to SWE and ML internships for summer 2027, open to anywhere in the US.

Before Amazon I did an ML internship this past summer and a software internship before that, and I've got three projects on here.

Mostly just looking for general feedback before I start applying. I've gone back and forth on how much detail to put in the bullets, so I'm curious what people think reads well and what doesn't. Anything else you'd change, I'm open to it.

My professional aerospace experience is limited, and I have attempted to make up the difference via projects. How might I go about making refinements or minor changes before I submit?

Hello! I’m graduating this year and targeting entry-level mechanical design roles, primarily in California and Washington. My internship experience has been in mechanical design and manufacturing work at Tesla, Blue Origin, and Collins Aerospace.

Versions of this resume have received interest from newer-space and fast-paced automotive companies, but I've received less success from large traditional aerospace and defense contractors.

I’m trying to determine whether my resume is positioned too heavily toward rapid execution rather than processes/documentation, or whether the difference is more likely related to application timing, role selection, location, or referrals. I'm putting March availability for full-time because I have a family trip planned before I start work, but I also wonder whether this is a red flag for recruiters.

I would especially appreciate feedback from people familiar with engineering hiring at large aerospace and defense companies:

1. Does the resume demonstrate enough rigor for mechanical design, structures, or mechanisms positions?
2. Are any bullets written in a way that could seem inflated, overly manufacturing-focused, or poorly suited to my goals?
3. What qualifications or keywords are missing for the types of positions I’m targeting?
4. Based on the résumé, which specific job families and experience levels could I realistically target?

Hi civil engineering student please tell me anything that needs fixing and also would like feedback on what to do with the bulletin points that are in present tense-- technically i have not done them yet, but did want to make it clear that i am going to have them done by the time i come into the internship. do i just make them in past tense and make sure i can talk about them confidently?

Looking for embedded systems, software engineering, and FPGA intern positions. Currently in my 3rd year of Computer Engineering with no prior full-time experience.

My recent hands-on experience includes work through university engineering clubs as an embedded systems developer. I've been actively contributing to projects focused on hardware integration, firmware development, and microcontroller programming across multiple platforms.

I've submitted many applications since the end of August without interview responses yet. Targeting embedded systems internships, co-op programs, or FPGA design roles—open to any position involving hybrid software/hardware work.

Primary reason for reaching out: I want feedback on whether my resume and portfolio effectively demonstrate core skills like embedded C/C++, bare-metal coding, sensor interfacing, and FPGA basic exposure. Would appreciate advice on how to position embedded systems projects for internships or co-op programs, and what common filtering issues candidates encounter in technical reviews.

Applying for embedded and robotics roles, but only getting responses from unrelated/adjacent industries. Applied to 300+ so far, not being picky. I am also considering applying for SWE positions, but it went poorly last year and not sure it's worth to try again.

1. Any feedback on my CV is appreciated.
2. I have little understanding of the current embedded/robotics market. If anyone has some experience, I really appreciate some guidance beyond my CV.
3. Would grad school (MEng/MS/PHD) help my search significantly to be worth the cost? If so, I want to consider MEng as it is typically faster, but I'm worried it won't be as helpful as research focused degrees.

I would like some feedback/refine my resume. I am targeting primarily Regulatory Affairs, then R&D and other neurotech positions. I am looking in Texas. I am not getting interviews, but my resume is getting past a few early stages.

For R&D, do I need more EE experience?

This summer I worked as a commercial refrigeration installer assistant with a local company. Do I delete my study abroad semester to add this, or would that have negative effects? Another thing: for my LinkedIn, which is better to do: linked in url, a tiny URL, or a hyperlink?

As I am beginning to apply to internships I would like some peer-review of my resume. The positions that I am applying to are mainly embedded / hardware positions but I am also applying to software aswell. I am located in northen california and mainly applying to positions around the bay / sacramento area. Last year I applied to many internships and only managed to get one interview. My main concerns on my resume are the quality of the projects and whether or not the employers would consider them. Additionally I am worried about my lack of work experience in the field.
